>He hasn't ran ethernet cables to every room in his house to provide fast and stable network connectivity to all the devices other than cellphones on his network
What's your excuse?

I live in a rented loft

Kinda hard to run anlot of cables through walls. I use Powerline adapters tho.

>he uses a consumer grade unmanaged switch

>wired networking in current year

but i do tho

>he shitposts on Sup Forums about a basic technical task in a vain effort to make himself feel superior

Not using 10Gbit in the year of our lord 2018. I thought this was Sup Forums!

>>he shitposts on Sup Forums about a basic shitposts spoting in a vain effort to make himself feel superior

joke's on you, faggot, my PC is the only device I have

All the devices other than cellphones on my network live in one room. No need to knock holes in the walls to run ethernet to all of them. Don't tell me you have roommates, or that you wasted your money on an overly-large dwelling.

my last house was new enough they used cat5 for all the phone lines, was pretty easy to convert to network (even left a few phone in and just did the 4 wire network 100meg thing)

I dont understand your post.....

10gbe routers and adapters are so fucking retardedly expensive that it's out of the reach of most people, and absolutely not worth the cost

Last I checked the cheapest 10gbe switches/routers were something north of $400 or $500, and then each NIC is minimum $100

10gbe would be awesome for a home NAS, but it's just too god damn expensive and far from accessible or easy to set up and use

Wifi exists

>he got his jimmies rustled enough to reply

My house was built in 2000, just new enough to also have cat5 phone lines, but damnit they’re wired in series and there’s no central punch down. Luckily I was able to use couplers and switches in the right places to get connections to the right rooms.

My previous home was plumbed for an in wall vacuum system so I easily ran cat5 through that by sucking weighted string through with a shop vac.

I just use a poweline and a unmanaged switch to connect everything I need in my bedroom.

I've had that since 1998. Sadly they're Cat5 so the speed isn't very fast. Still better than wireless.

enjoy your brain cancer, soygoy cuck.

When I get a house I'm putting these everywhere. No wifi too.

I have three ubiquiti routers, one on each floor. I get around 400 to 500 mbps in every room in my house except for the garage. My PC and workstation use wired

My house is old and not designed with internet in mind and i'm too lazy to do all the ceiling climbing required for this to actually be feasible in my situation.

>running WiFi cables everywhere

i have a finished basement with drywall ceilings and really don't feel like going in the attic to physically connect the two set top boxes that would use it

I just run them along on the ground to every room I have shit in. It's a slight tripping hazard but I don't give a fuck.

use staple gun and run cables through the windows and on the walls outside .

nop.

But I have

How progressive!

>wasting bazillians of electrical power for 5 devices
how does extreme autism feel like?

Why is there a toilet paper under your switch?

Sweet, what about your Router?

>bazillians

i do a lot of testing and im lazy so i prefer to have a tonne of ports to plug and go.

autism feels like a warm embrace from a friend.

router = dogshit,
please dont make me photograph that

>>He hasn't ran ethernet cables to every room in his house
THAT'S A GODDAMN LIE!!
I tore down all my walls so I could fit conduits with CAT7 everywhere.
Turns out I'm pretty good at drywalling.

My man. Never serviced better than ourselves.

Just run them inside your walls

I have but the server and the switches are currently offline.

Are you me?

to clean up after shitposting

Wait, you don't connect your phone to ethernet?

...

I have ethernet cables in every room except the bathroom

>get home after a long day
>connect phone to ethernet
>read new messages

>Not having it in the bathroom

my excuse is that I know the past perfect tense of the verb 'to run'

this thread is just a condescending circlejerk

>he doesn't use ethernet entirely
>what a faggot!

>he uses ethernet exclusively
>lmao for what purpose?

Just run direct attach cabling between the nas and your computer then. You can buy two cards and a cable for less than $100 on ebay
