Are you new?

Also, Blooflowers is underrated af. Lush as fuck, really dig the subtle acoustic textures and long jams.

I remember talking to this guy in Buenos Aires who had a tattoo of the cure lead singer on his arm. I told him I kinda digged them, and every day after that when he would see me he would lift up his sleeve, stick out his tongue and show me his tattoo. He had a sandwich shop that made the worst sandwiches I've ever tasted, which was surprising because I normally love argentine sandwiches.

Get on Bauhaus my friend, best gothy post punk band from the 80s

>best gothy post punk band of the 80's
OP already posted it. Bauhaus are still one of the GOATs but they were inconsistent in album format.

>they were inconsistent in album format.
So are the Cure

I've only listened to disintegration from the cure. What else should I listen to?

youtube.com/watch?v=xik-y0xlpZ0
The bass in this one is really good

Faith, Pornography, Disintegration, Wish, Seventeen Seconds are all consistent m8. Bauhaus had a wilder sound aand messed more with other genres. Sometimes it paid off other times it didnt.

I mean album wise, who hasn't heard their singles

I hate when you tell someone you also like the band they're obsessed with, and every time you see them they bring it up. It was the same with me and this guy, with the worst halitosis ever. We both liked the Dead Kennedys and every time I saw him he'd sing a DK lyric and talk about them for hours.

Well, Pornography is definitely my favorite album from the Cure. You may not like it if you're not into Coldwave though.

I was surprised about how reliant on synths the whole thing was the first time I heard it. Amazing album.

Seeing them in 11 days. Fucking hyped

Isn't it depressing now that they're so old?
I don't go to any concert because of this, I'd especially love to see Sisters of Mercy live but Andrew Eldritch is so fucking old and ugly now.

It matters seeing them in person and having them perform despite it being shitty or not

Dunno, Robert may look old, but it's cute seeing that he didn't change one bit. I mean the way he acts on a scene, almost childishly, suits him well. Also, it's amazing, how strong and young his voice remains, considering his age.

Wish they were coming to Dublin, it sucks knowing I'll probably never see them

Well you can try Wish, if you liked Disintegration. If you wanted darker or more depressive stuff, try Pornography or Faith. Also there are some great punkish tunes on Three imaginary boys.

Bloodflowers is the one that sounds more likee Disintegration
Wish is more upbeat, shoegazish and psychadelic
Faith and 17 Seconds are more minimal and post punkish
Pornography is more coldwave and goth
Head On the Floor and Kiss Me are more poppish
3 Imaginary Boys is more punkish

Just choose what you like

You've ever been to the Fibbers in Dublin? I'm wondering what kind of music they play there

Nah man sorry

pls some one identify the first song of the background of this?

Disintegration > Pornography

Patrician opinion

I love this version of A Forrest

youtube.com/watch?v=-DE1ndftmPE

and i'm not even trying to be patrician or anything here, but Pornography is just too cold and dark, i usually don't mind it but it almost feels lifeless

On the other hand, Disintegration finds beauty in sadness, and i just find it amazing

When I was in the last years of high school (~10 years ago) there was this one goth girl in my English class. Didn't really talk to her or know her but she was just 'there'. One day I had to sit next to her for some reason or other and this conversation ensued:
>(her) "Do you like The Cure?"
>(me) "Yeah I suppose so"
>"I like Robert Smith. He's a nice man."
>"Yeah, he seems alright."
>"I really like him. Have you ever seen him live?"
>"No, afraid not, would be a good band to see though."
>"You should. I'm going to see him in person next weekend."
>"Oh yeah? Where are they playing?"
>"No you don't understand, I'm going to his house"
>"Okay"
>"I found out where he lives. I've bought a tent and everything"
>"Okay..."
>"I'm going to camp there until he comes outside"
>"Cool"
>"He's such a nice man" (starts crying)
>"Sure"
it kinda just went on and on like that with her talking about her clearly deranged obsession with him, all the memorabilia, the works. felt sorry for her desu, she was obviously genuinely crazy. but goddamn it was awkward, and of course it was the middle of the lesson too so I couldn't just get up and move elsewhere.

>too cold and dark
M8
That's LITERALLY the whole point. Criticizing an album whose main point is to be cold and dark for being way too cold and dark is shit criticism.
I do agree that Disintegration is better out of sheer instrumental magnitude though.

Pornography >> Disintegration

That’s the true contrarian and patrician opinion.

By the way, here’s a photo of me with Rob.

You look like a nice guy. Rob looks great.

>mfw it's almost summer
>mfw will have to wait an eternity for the cold times to listen to early Cure again
