make Sup Forums patrician again

Kpop threads.
People who like Sup Forums more than music are killing Sup Forums.
The average Sup Forumstant couldn't have given less of a shit about music when they came here, but they needed a new group to belong to, and Sup Forums was perfect for them. They quickly began to listen to the same albums recommended for years, listening to albums and treating them like they're fucking pokemon cards, and are afraid of sharing their opinions of these albums for they have no knowledge to start a discussion with, nor do they want to venture and discover other music for fear of being a pleb or poseur.
Then come the memes, which is the only thing they're good at. They shitpost and bait the hours away, adding no discussion. Meanwhile, all good thread are being sent to page 10.
Eventually they either outgrow it and find another hobby/board, or they actually begin to take music seriously and find out that what I just said is the cold, hard truth.
People are going to say it's me, but I honestly think it's the people that draw attention to me and making a big ass deal out of me.
tripfags
you've achieved more musically than most of the people who shit on you
All the 90's dad rock talk. Blur, Oasis, Nirvana, and now fucking Radiohead.
desu i just ironically hate you at this point
its like one big joke
youre infinitely better than some other people on this board. you at least try to talk about music
Anthony Fandango
makes me miss the Sup Forums in 2011 even though 80% of the content was just itaots spam
>90's dad rock
underage confirmed
The anti intellectuals that constantly hamper any form of civil conversation. They know who they are. This is compounded by the misplaced belief in the general population that you can, in fact, be patrician by listening to rock or popular or traditional music in general or listening to any of those qualifies as "good taste".
Anybody who uses this board other than me
anime posters are whats ruining Sup Forums
Friendly reminder that Sup Forums's history with Sup Forums has been far longer than Tumblr's history with Sup Forums.
The only difference regarding Sup Forums's presence on Sup Forums 3 years ago and its presence on Sup Forums today is that now Tumblrites constantly whine about it.
Sup Forums did nothing wrong.
You could honestly avoid that entirely if you just took off the trip, and I don't know why you wouldn't if you think it would improve the board
Also, this board has many larger problems than that. Shitposting about trips derails individual threads but well over half of the threads started are already shitposts.
No it's definitely you.
False.
But fails immensely.
You
oh he definitely fails, but thats just because he doesn't have anything fresh or original to say.
hes a pretty generic indie Sup Forumstant
The glorification of Pitchfork, and actually giving a shit what they have to say, to the point where people make "review countdown threads".
If you do this, please do me a favour, real solid mate, and hang from the highest tree.
You win
I feel like rate threads are just based off of things people didn't see
I truly believe that those Pitchfork threads are made by someone from Pitchfork.
I feel like that isn't even the worst though. Simply because the countdown threads have been something apart of Sup Forums for at least 5 years.
Considering how monumentally buttfucked by advertisers they are, this wouldn't surprise me.
That's 5 years too many.
yeah so he should drop his trip
honestly like 100% of my problems with him would be solved by that
why is /daily/ shat on so much exactly?
I disagree completely. Anime posters outside of emoe (excluding the emoe vermin that leave their containment thread) are generally quite agreeable and have a small presence on the board which causes no real disruption to any of the intellectually inclined posters. /mu would be better with more anime and intellectual music.
basically enables a bunch of really whiny and reddit-like tripfags who don't belong here
Just filter them out
And to answer the question, no actual discussion of music, its awful.
I definitely agree that it's 5 years too many for the countdown threads, but what I'm trying to say is Sup Forums has made much more shitty things since then/in comparison to.
>Anti-Elitism
>People who like Sup Forums more than music are killing Sup Forums.
THESE
the way I see it is
none of Sup Forums's boards are ____ discussion
they are for people who have, at best, an entry-level interest (sometimes they don't), in a certain subject to shitpost all day on
It applies to every single board, from Sup Forums to Sup Forums to Sup Forums
That is strange. I had thought I had properly linked the posts. You'll have to forgive me but I suppose mistakes do happen, we must endeavour to limit them in the future. This is so embarrassing.
i can agree with that.
For example, I dont like how kpop threads are a waifu containment thread, when really it should be banned entirely.
Or how threads of music that isn't in the meme cycle get minimal discussion. Makes me question if people here actually go out of their way to find new music that isn't sanctioned by p4k, fantano, or whatever.
Where does Sup Forums fall, then?
Hey Avant-Math God. Missed you. I owe your recommendations more inductions into my music library than anyone else on Sup Forums. Don't care about replies to this post, just thought I'd let you know.
everyone has an entry-level interest in being a degenerate
>and now fucking Radiohead
have you been here for a month? Radiohead has always been massive on Sup Forums, like from the beginning
nah, you were right the first time: prejudice is whats killing mu
anti-elitism grows out of it anyways
i believe it is irony, user
just delet the whole board senpai
>radiohead
>dadrock
90's radiohead is objectively dadrock.
It really didn't appear ironic, and upon review doesn't look like it was made to appear ironic either.
Treating music listening like a competition.
Yeah the whole pleb/patrician thing has been around forever, but it was always based in hints of irony. People nowadays will literally just completely discount music they haven't listened to because they don't view it as fitting into the "patrician" narrative they're trying to cultivate. It's honestly just awful for discussion.
reddit tourists and fourteen year olds to tell each other to get cancer and act like they're jacked
Anything released after The Bends isn't dadrock in the slightest.
Using albums like pokemon cards instead of actively talking (and enjoying for that matter) music
kpop is well contained to one or two threads at a time
normies
seriously
>Treating music listening like a competition.
more importantly, assuming what music someone consumes (maybe even yourself) is an extension of their identity
see: "guess muh personality" or "people who like this must be x"
People caring about review scores
Kpop threads and ITT post ur fav album and give me pics to wank to
Trip/dubs/quads, I think one person pointing it out is enough.
Acting as if someone's background effects their taste
Arguments derailing into cursing contests
Political discussion, unless the music is very political, even then its usually a huge shitshow
Racism, homophobia and bigotry in general.
Laggards posting pastas like a week after they were funny
Contrarians to some extent, although I feel like a little bit isn't that bad, sometimes its overkill though.
nice dubs user :)
If it preserves art that would otherwise be forgotten in attics and bins then so be it
Nothing except for you. Sup Forums is a place where anyone can post so you can't help changing others but if you don't like an aspect of culture, be the change you want to see.
I wanted to make someone's day by getting them free vinyl so I made giveaway threads. I wanted to discuss daily listenings so I created /daily/. I'm just a bottom of the barrel fish, you could end up doing way more impacting things if you decided to act/post positively (this is a good step in the right direction btw, proud of you OP)
>People caring about review scores
Fucking this
>yes
>yes but its tradition even if its dumb as shit
>yes
>yes
>yes
>yes
>mega yes
>yeah
This, my cousins a Sup Forums poster and he's fourteen, biggest wanker I know. Always shows embarrassingly cringy 2010 memes and saying shit like get cancer, kill yourself and sjw, really is fucking cringe. Sucks too because he was a real cool guy when he was like 11-12, I guess it just comes with the age.
sorry i missed the review scores one
>mega yes
he'll grow out of it, just going through an edgy phase atm
I was once like him and now I'm a pretentious Sup Forums hipster so I guess all will be well :^)
The "meme magic" "people". They're not people. They're teens and young adults.
Why are you even here? other than politics, which i agree with, all the other things you mentioned have been here for a very long time and won't change.it's timee for you to find a new home.
I will try
That's pretty nice. What kind of music though? Any notable artists or albums?
Yeah, but that prejudice has "anti-elitist" roots, imo. I just think my new suggestion covers way more ground than the previous one.
>What kind of music though? Any notable artists or albums?
'You Wanna Kiss About It?' which I'm getting more into by the day -- the rate at which their music changes and tempo are just right (I actually browsed through top-rated math-rock albums on RYM to see if they're exceeded by some other band, apparently not really), 'Yowie' partly for laughs but partly for a genuine inspiration how dense writing can be, and possibly Tipographica too (can't remember). I like 'Critical Meat' too, sadly only the first two or so songs.
