On this day, 50 years ago. Two albums were released that changed music forever. More specifically, they elevated the artistic merit of rock/pop music to soaring heights and began an era of unmatched progress and innovation in popular music. Ofcourse, i am talking about:
Bob Dylan-Blonde on Blonde The Beach Boys-Pet Sounds
Gavin Baker
>everyone will die soon
John Sanchez
4 real? they were both released on the same day?
Noah Cox
>Meme Sounds >Meme on Meme
Lmao, neck yourself rockist.
Jeremiah Miller
I know Sup Forums mocks born in le wrong generationers, but imagine being a teenager into music in the 1960s. Every couple of weeks or so you'd have a release that makes you think 'huh, I guess music has been transformed forever... again'.
Levi Cox
>Pet Sounds >rock
Luis Brown
What a day this was in '66
I wonder if people of then thought the music of that time will be forgotten, 'cause in the future it's gonna get better and better. How wrong they were, if so.
Parker Sanchez
>The dating of the album's release is uncertain. May 16, 1966, has been widely accepted as the official release date;[24][110][111] however, Michael Gray, author of The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia, disputes this. Gray maintains the earliest Blonde on Blonde was available was late June or early July.[28] This coincides with the album's promotion in Billboard, which carried a full-page Columbia advertisement on June 25,[112] selected the album as a "New Action LP" on July 9,[113] and ran a review and article on July 16.[105] The album debuted on Billboard's Top LP's chart on July 23 at No. 101[114]—just six days before Dylan's motorcycle accident in Woodstock removed him from public view.[115] Clinton Heylin argues that early July is the probable release date, stating that an overdub on "Fourth Time Around" was recorded in June.[116] What the fuck?
Logan Fisher

Jose Ortiz

Josiah King

Benjamin Gutierrez
Pet Sounds is great, Wouldn't it be Nice and Sloop John B are the only weak tracks. One of my favorite albums.
Zachary Russell
Sloop John B is a slapper family to be honest shaking my head
Luis Davis
>caring about dadrock

Jeremiah Morales

Anthony Reyes
comparing blonde on blonde to pet sounds
>WEW
Robert Garcia
Why? They're both GOAT records
Zachary Stewart
if u think pet sounds is better u should probably consider ending ur life
Jonathan Gonzalez
Blonde on Blonde is legit one of the most boring albums i've ever listened to. People were right to be angry at Dylan going electric
Asher Moore
if trips both Dylan and Wilson will be dead before the month ends
Robert Gomez
Considering I'm seeing him in a month I'm glad you're wrong.
Pet Sounds is one of those where it stands up to the hype built over time, great on acid too.
Jack Mitchell
>I'm fucking sick of sugar sugar. the starchies and the monkpees are the worst thing in music. why wasn't I born in the 50's
Matthew Robinson
Listening to Blonde On Blonde for the first time, why does Dylan have such weird inflictions on his voice? Does he normally sing like this? Never listened to anything by him before.
Asher Long
Yes, but BoB is possibly the most extreme example. He started by kind of imitating an old folk singer, but then kind of developed his own weird voice which peaked with BoB.
The weirdest voice is on Nashville Skyline, though, because he goes Full Country. Sounds totally different.
Samuel Barnes
>elevated the artistic merit of rock/pop music to soaring heights and began an era of unmatched progress and innovation in popular music That would be Sgt. Peppers in 1967. The biggest cultural impact an album has made.
Jayden Fisher
>sgt. peppers >album strongly influenced by Pet Sounds
Cooper Ortiz
No one did that.
Benjamin Cook
both are 6/10 albums
Ayden Martinez
>I listen to real music. Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi, the list goes on...
Ayden Johnson
what albums do you consider to be better?
Nolan Sanchez
I always felt Sgt Peppers was the turning point of my dislike for the Beatles.
Anthony Watson
That's pretty interesting as the time most people start to dislike The Beatles is when they encounter Beatles fans.
Matthew Morgan
reroll
Grayson Diaz
Beatles fans are literal cancer. I like the Beatles but I actively try to distance myself from being called one
Jordan Sullivan
Beatles fans =/= Born in le wrong gene pool fags
Jose Lewis
More like every couple of months or so. I went through an oldies phase, and the vast majority of music of the 1960s was very unimpressive
Alexander Ortiz
no u
Jayden Wilson
wouldnt it be nice is fucking sick man
Xavier Green
Music being transformed forever every few months is still pretty damn good.
The problem is, if you're listening to try and get a sense of the innovation of the time you have to be listening in chronological order. Phil Spector's stuff all sounds basic to our ears by now.
