Wouldn't it be nice and title track.
Such a tough decision, God Only Knows, or Don't Talk, or You Still Believe In Me.
Here Today
I can appreciate the rest of the album, but it's a bit "clean" sounding for me personally.
That song however is in my opinion the most musically and lyrically interesting.
God only knows tied with dont talk (put your hand on my shoulder)
it wasn't though was it
it fucking WASNT that tough fuck off kill yourself
That's not me OR I wasn't made for these times, very tough decision
Sloop John B.
Pet Sounds, Sloop John B, Caroline No
Listened to it for the first time last night. Probably God Only Knows or Caroline, No. Don't really have a definitive answer though - it all came across as well produced but kinda breezy pop music. Nothing wrong with that but it didn't rock my world or anything, just decent music overall.
oh damn, that's tough. god only knows, i suppose.
Here Today is underrated
it wasn't though was it
it fucking WASNT that tough fuck off kill yourself
Who on the cover sings what song?
I'm Waiting For the Day or God Only Knows
> dat "DON'TCHA KNOW"
> tfw I usually have to skip Wouldn't It Be Nice because I hated it so much as a child
still the greatest rock album ever made, quite possibly
Ok
Never skip that glorious opener!
Don't Talk
>
I know theres an answer or you still believe in me
I Just Wasn't Made For These Times.
>PLEB CHOICE
God only knows
Wouldn't it be nice
>PATRICIAN CHOICE
Caroline, No
Don't Talk
>UNDERRATED
Here Today
>OVERRATED
Wouldn't it be nice
>you will never hear Smile as crazy druggie 1960's Brian Wilson intended it
god only knows
God Only Knows > Caroline, No = That's Not Me > Don't Talk > I Just Wasn't Made For These Times > I'm Waiting For The Day > You Still Believe In Me > Wouldn't It Be Nice > Sloop John B > I Know There's An Answer
Oh shit, forgot Here Today, it'd be between Sloop John B and I Know There's An Answer
Don't Talk is the best song on the album and you can't convince me otherwise. Then it's That's Not Me in a distant second. Sloop John B, Caroline No and God Only Knows are all tied for third.
Is Brian still worth seeing live? He's coming to my town for the 50th anniversary tour.
SOMETIMES I FEEL VERY SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD
I have to say the section of Wouldn't It Be Nice (Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through), is one of my favourite moments in music, period. The lyrics, Brian's singing, the backing vocals, the backing track. For 15 seconds, everything comes together and sounds amazing.
That's Not Me. It's a cool part of the album because it doesn't employ the Wrecking Crew like the rest of the tracks, not that they aren't stellar as well.
>best
God Only Knows
>runner up
Pet Sounds
>worst
Sloop John B (it's still a good song but let's be honest here)
>honorable mention
I Just Wasnt Made For These Times
this
most relateable song ever
Best: Here Today
Worst: I Know There's an Answer
caroline zez
I would also like an answer to this.
But on topic, That's Not Me.
Does anyone know what the background vocals are saying at 0:44? I could never figure it out.
God Only Knows & You Still Believe In Me
That's Not Me doesn't get enough love on here. Such a great song; musically, and lyrically.
The real answer is Lets Go Away For Awhile
Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into
No, it's just before that and higher pitched. It could just be gibberish but it sounds too precise. It starts at exactly 0:44.
Oh, I have no idea. I'm going to check live versions and try to understand
I may have to say sloop john b is my favorite.... but god only knows is probably one of the best
answers so far
From wikipedia:
"O cuando sere? Un dia sere"
What the fuck
You Still Believe In Me
1. Don't Talk
2. Caroline No
3. I Just Wasn't Made
I saw him a couple months ago. His backing band are literally god tier musicisns and perform his music how it should sound
HNNNG. I'm going to see him in less than a month and this just got me even more hyped
It actually sounds right. That's pretty fucking weird.
...
you could have just used that goolge poll thing ya goof
That settles it, I'm going.
That's Not Me
i'm waiting for the day tho
God Only Knows and Caroline, No.
I passed on seeing him. His voice is pretty shot.
The title track is GOAT
a damn near perfect album. I Know Theres an Answer is my favorite, but every track is great
honestly, Sloop John B
Hey Sup Forums, cum on feel the noize in this listen-along in honor of the 50th anniversary of Pet Sounds:
dubtrack.fm
I Just Wasn't Made For These Times is the only song that has made me come close to throwing up. It hits a bit too close to home.
I'll have to listen to that one again
God only knows tears me up inside desu.
Listening to it now and I was just wondering what my favourite is. Probably You Still Believe In Me. Honourable mention to Sloop John B.
The very fact that the song is so popular only goes to prove that it works within a very entry level emotional space. The most emotionally sophisticated art leaves normies confused, angry, and clawing at their own faces. God Only Knows is pandering "muh accessible feels"-core.
You're the worst kind of person
(You)
This was so close the scaruffi pasta but you didn't actually do the pasta. That make me more angry than anything about it
Let's Go Away For Awhile
Halfway in the sound just does it perfectly for me
You clearly know fuck all about music theory
>muh theory
The more sophisticated the art the fewer people are able to appreciate it. It's as simple as that.
you're super epic dude
You Still Believe in Me
People who have not heard Pet Sounds are missing out and I feel sorry for them.
it's really not, other wise you would know about the genius use of cadences, textures and even things as basic as the chord progressions in God Only Knows
If people without formal musical educations can enjoy the song then it's certainly not "genius". Genius by definition can only be enjoyed by the few.
I know you're probably trolling but even so that sentiment is pretty genius dude
>Genius by definition can only be enjoyed by the few.
If stupid people are equipped to appreciate it then how sophisticated can it be.
>Release track
I just wasnt made for these times
>Backing track only
Wouldnt it be nice
Here Today gotta be my fav
Something can be both immediate and complex and still be good you tard. When most people look at the Mona Lisa they just think it's a nice painting of a woman, by your logic, the fact that people look at it and like it means it's not very good.
>I know theres an answer
seconded
That's pretty much how I felt the first time I listened to it. Pet Sounds is one of those albums that takes a few listens for it to really get to you, but it became one of my all time favorites.
The Mona Lisa really is shit.
I just wasn't made for these times
God only knows
'I'm Waiting For The Day' is my favorite song on the album.
Does anyone have any other albums or musicians that sound similar?
Van Dyke Parks-Song Cycle
The guy worked with Brian on Smile
it's typically between You Still Believe in Me and I'm Waiting For The Day
Rad. Thanks user.
listen to more post pet sounds beach boys
Those harmonies during that part are incredible.
That bridge in Here Today is fucking amazing
That's Not Me, I'm Waiting For The Day, or I Know There's An Answer
Honourable Mention: the first minute of Let's Go Away for a While
Wouldn't It Be Nice, Don't Talk, I Just Wasn't Made For These Times, and Caroline No
couldn't pick just one
bump
"Oh, when I will be? A day I will be"
my thought exactly
