I'm pretty proud of this song, except for my shitty voice.
This does certainly not deserve it's "hype".
Production is sub-par, composition aswell, claims to be pop yet is lacking any vocals.

I agree with you on the production. I actually mainly released this demo so I could get some feedback from people more knowledgeable and experienced than me.
As far as the composition goes, I'm saddened to hear you don't like it. Is it the structure/duration that you don't like, or the melodies and hooks themselves? Both?
Vocals are lacking, and they will be introduced in the finished version. I mainly consider it pop because of the way the hooks and melodies and such are used; it's not really EDM, at least I don't think it is. However, I can see it's not 100% pop. What would you say the genre is?
I liked and followed a bunch of stuff I liked from here.

I can also give mixing advices and that's what I'm gonna do in the next minutes. I'm making some coffee and then I'll try to give an ear to everyone just to spend my NEET night.

I have literally been making music for 5 months and only about 2 of those have been actually making music but somehow I'm spending like 12 hours a day fucking around lately because I'm kinda bored living with crippling mental illness on disability. I'd say a lot of it isn't very good. Most of my time is spent trying to find the oddest, most roundabout and non-linear methods possible and not even making songs because that's pretty fun to me in a sort of imaginary "sonic explorer" way. I imagine if I actually knew how to use ableton even remotely or just anything about music in general it would be much better, but I'm trying to stumble upon a unique sound. Right now it's pretty garbage. Anyway, leave comments or some shit, even if it's negative. For real, even if your opinion is that it's hilarious garbage. It'd be refreshing simply to see someone even heard it and I don't live in some fantasy bubble.

Never even give up dude. I was a NEET and trying to make your own "sound world" is what got me to work with label. Now they're telling me that they are working with me just because I got my own unique sound and thus it's not a waste of time to try to make something good out of it.
I might have weird sounds but every fuckin synth I use is from my massive 130+ sound design library and I'm always discovering new things.
Last month I discovered how to emulate a cello and a flute with the feedback option in massive.
Really my life would be nothing without music.
So try hard and get better and if you keep spending your time in music you'll one day end up with beautiful things.

I like the sound of everything but the beat. I feel like it would sound a lot better if it wasn't... too "glitchy" sounding. I mean keep the stutters in. i love those. ...idk im high.
Also mine
me, thanks for the feedback so far. some real talent in this thread, still browsing.
just me fucking around in audacity, nothing at all serious but would like some feedback
Your comment is the only criticism I won't consider. .
It's difficult to say whether posting in these threads is even a good idea for anyone developing their sound, or anyone in general. Given how music isn't objective by any measure whatsoever, especially if you don't make any sort of genre music. In which case it is entirely subjective opinion. For instance, I have no idea what sort of music you like, or if you even listen to music. Though believe me, I don't think much of the music I've made is worthy of anything. I simply put it up so I'll quit working on it, at this point. Though I hardly spend my time "making" music. Rather experimenting and trying to find odd sounds.
But ultimately, I think posting in these threads could be a form of weakness and insecurity. The desperate need for others' approval. Which is, sadly enough, only really negative for someone developing their voice. I think the key is spending as much time in total creative isolation as possible. No outside input, no influences, no methodology that does not come from directly inside your brain. It seems if there is too much input, or even any input at all (or aknowledgement of that input) then you will be subverted from making something that is really you. Then it becomes "you+conscious or unconscious suggestions of people you don't know and may not like/care about"
Though music is definitely one of those things where I think you have to be confident in what you make and just stick up your middle finger to people who don't like it. And the only way you can really do that I imagine is by making enough of it and getting to the point where you can stand up for what you make and have total confidence in it. Which obviously no one posting in this thread has, otherwise we could all just post the shit and have full 100% satisfaction by that alone.
That probably takes a fuck-long time. Like "most of your life" kinds of long-time. Maybe I and most people are too impatient about that.
It's definitely about patience. It's probably way too early for me to know, or even have a point in posting the stuff. It's probably harmful to release anything that is not 100% formed, and very little of the music on soundcloud is, let alone mine, which is very infantile and floundering at this stage.
So yeah, I guess the point is that outside influence is bad if you have not achieved the sound you truly invision in your head. It will only stop you from really going for that sound. I haven't reached that point yet, so I don't really know if it's beneficial to post the stuff at all. It's almost like an expedition to a distant place and you're bragging about being there when you're 100 miles away. In my case somewhat vaguely upset when someone says "you're not there" when of course I know that myself, or I wouldn't even be posting in this thread.
If you truly believe this, you don't have the heart to be an artist. You SHOULD be influenced by other people, things, places, etc. Obviously your sound is going to change/evolve with time, however you will never be complete. You will never be able to take what you hear in your mind and make it a reality. You just keep getting closer while "it" gets farther.
Most music advice is pointless to me
In my opinion a true artist must she'd he is need to gain approval and embrace the alone feeling which leads you to your true pcreative self and away from group creativity that is heavily influenced by the masses. Once you being to vpcrwat for self you rezch a unique kind of inovation which is very rare.
Also check my music I have some very new wave shit

You guys should read this book:
en.wikipedia.org
diggin this new track
Obviously everyone has some influence from the outside simply by virtue of being human, and as a human being you are inspired by things that as a human being seem real and important to you.
And I'm inspired by other artists definitely. I just try not to be too influenced by what I hear. Though it's often the case that I make something that I want to be from the gut but I realize later I was basically copying X artist because where else am I getting my ideas from?
I mainly mean in the sense that I think it's important to live in basically a fantasy universe where other people do not matter, and "correct" methods do not matter, genres do not matter, absolutely nothing matters until what you have made satisfies you to the upmost level it possibly can ("ok this is good enough").
But until then, I think any opinion, any going to the internet to look how to do something, any new methods, any new software, anything at all, is just going to subvert your own creativity.
Eschewing influence 100% is impossible. If you did, you wouldn't even make music, because at some point you were inspired to make it likely by a particular artist or song or type of sound.
And yes, I understand that you never get exactly what you want in art already through being a writer and drawer for quite some time in what seems like a lifetime ago. "Good enough" is good enough for me. I guess you just have to know when "good enough" is.

I actually liked it a lot man, but if you jettison melody and traditional rhythms in your music expect stuff like this It's the same thing that happens when artists in film or literature abandon narrative... Or when painters abandon the concrete for the abstract, some people just don't really have a mind for truly abstract art. I like it though.
