turns out Luke Slater had a third LP planned under his 7th Plain alias that never saw the light of day, one of the tunes is an ambient track that saw release on the 2011 Planetary Assault Systems LP while the other is an awesome minimalistic trip-hop/shoegaze mix

It'll be like that for at least the next 3 years. If I have no guide to share but in general I don't think they're helpful, you might want to take a look at soundonsound (synthesis series etc) tho, it's a goldmine.
