What are your thoughts on ublock origin? I feel that they're getting paid by showing glimpses of ads, as I keep seeing ads for a few seconds before they're hidden. That's definitely more effective marketing, IMO, for the advertisers: to show you an ad so quick, system 2(slower thinking) doesn't even process the ad, but it's on your mind, and it indeed processed.

Did you enable prefetching?

Read what you just posted and think about it for a minute.

yess... ?

I've never seen it actually work.
Not like noscrypt or Umatrix anyways.

Love it, best extension for when you want to hide ads instead of blocking them.

Paid adblock shill detected
This guy is right

Install pi-hole!

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read. Kys

Or it's too intelligent for you, pea-brain. Do you even system 2?

not OP, should prefetching be on or off?

What is the "Nazi Germany" of Ad block software? I need something that is 24/7 full Third Reich gas all ads mode.

This. I think adblock plus... ?

jesus fucking christ, it's open source. Go audit the code if you think it does this.

pi-hole, blocking ads at the router level. THEN running uMatrix and further blocking invasive or dangerous site elements.

On obviously. It will slow down your internet but otherwise ads can get through. OP is a fucking idiot, you can test whether or not uBlock is working or lying about blocking shit through the developer's tools built into your web browser, uBlock's own log or a web debugger with HTTPS decryption facilities (there are a fuckton like Charles and Fiddler.)

is the slowing down noticeable? i never really mess with the settings on it and see 'disabled prefetching' is checked

nigga why the fuck do i keep seeing ads then ? especially on Sup Forums, they usually load up at the bottom(not completely, but alt tags with the text and link). will snap a screenshot next time.

I only use ublock origin and I sometimes see preview ads at the last 20 seconds of youtube videos. It's not a youtube setting doing that, I checked. can't block the fuckers either.

>is the slowing down noticeable?
Not particularly on my third world tier Australian internet.
Okay are you on uBlock on a laptop or PC? Go to options/3rd party filters purge all caches and update now. Now everything should be blocked.

Note that some extensions designed for chrome, for example, can be adware. Which is why you should thoroughly vet every extension you install. Oftentimes I have fiddler open on my computer and if I see any new and weird requests on chrome and I recently installed an extension, it's usually because the extension is adware. (these extensions tend to be sneaky and will not necessarily alter the webpage to insert ads but constantly request ads in the background or insert shit like vigilink into urls randomly at a low chance). You can check the extension sauce code generally by unzipping the downloaded thing or going to the directory where the extension is.

uBlock has a fuckload of features. I have it installed with uMatrix. Webpages are not static things. If youtube sees that a fuckton of people are blocking ads they might recode bits of the webpage or bring in new ads or try to break ad blocking software. You need to toggle ublock and umatrix to make sure it catches the ads. (a good way of shortcircuiting the need to figure out exactly what is wrong with site X is to search site X adblock and usually some smart autist has written a filter to fix it, adblock filters are compatible with ublock so you should search both adblock and ublock)

Because you are a fucking brainlet. What filters do you have enabled you retard? Check uBlock Preferences and click on everything in the filter lists because you are clearly too stupid to understand what the different categories are. Just click on everything there like a monkey, and then start surfing your porn sites and see if you see ads now.

Yeah, that MUST be it. It couldn't be that you're a retarded homo.

>Yeah, that MUST be it
I know, stupid.

Moron, they have aesthetic filters, problem is ypur shitty pc isn't fast enough so you don't notice

I've literally never had this problem. Re-enable automatic updates on your lists, faggot.

kys pleb. Learn how to block things properly. Read the ublock wiki.

Reading Danny Kahnemann doesn't make you an expert on subconsciousness you twit

>block
Hide. uBlock hides ads, not block it.
AdGuard blocks

No, AdGuard inserts its own ads.

Chromium browsers have difficulties blocking any ads or trackers. Use Firefox.

Kill yourself retards. github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Does-uBlock-block-ads-or-just-hide-them?

Gr9-1 b√64 m2^3 r7+1 (2(4))/(16•0.5)

Prove it, please.

Works on my machine.

>I feel that they're getting paid by showing glimpses of ads, as I keep seeing ads for a few seconds before they're hidden.
That's exactly what happened to me yesterday, when I checked uBlock Origin for Chrome. The Firefox version is working perfectly fine, you don't see ads at all.

I really want twitch ads blocked

streamlink

That's pretty much Chrome just being Chrome. It's hilarious to see Adblock Plus shilled in this thread when they are the ones who actually got outed for taking bribes.

because you're a nigger. your machine is infected probably you dumb little piece of shit diversity hire.

Tacking onto this, remember that some sites like Gelbooru have tried to connect their content and their ads. It's easily worked around, but it's still something to note if you see ads for some reason.

I think you got that backwards, prefetching is recommended to be turned off by ublock's privacy settings

Whatever shill you are, stop spreading fud. Fuck off.

I've been using adblock for a while now and have yet to seen even a microsecond of an ad.
Nice try OP.

Thoughts on nano blocker? Same shit?

>cleverly shilling another blocker
Nice try Shlomo. Spreading misinformation from 3 years ago and then plugging your whoreshit.

Don't bully.

There's literally no reason to use adblock though, you have none. uBlock Origin is objectively the best ad blocker no matter what way you look at it, seems like such a waste not to use it.

Your post reads exactly like an awful infomercial.
Go away shill

Misinformation aside, I do have to wonder if it would be better to hide or block ads. I mean yeah, they can impact performance. But some are actually good for website revenue. Why not use something that keeps them out of sight but still allows you to support them indirectly? Keeps them from taking more drastic steps to get their ad revenue or worse yet gating their shit.

try using player dot twitch dot tv/?channel=
It may or may not work. I've been it using for a few days now and I haven't gotten any ads so far.

Ads are OK to some extent, but tracking is insane. And there are no ads without tracking today. www.donttrack.us
