Borrowing this off a good friend. Was considering buying one but don't know if it's worth the price desu.
I've got a MIDI NES catridge I'm trying to sell. Shit's awesome, but I'm kinda done with chiptune stuff at this point.
I have one of these. It's nice because you can really easily control the different oscellators and their channnels, but you need to spend some time with it to get something that sounds really nice.
I would seriously suggest that you check out the Korg Minilogue, though. It's an analog synth with a completely digital interface, so you can save patches and things very easily, and connect it to your computer. It's really hard to make it sound bad. And it's around the same price point as a Gaia

i owned an sc-88 for a short time. it sounded wonderful, but i didn't have much use for it so i traded it to a canadian guy in exchange for him to mod my Genesis. I did MPU-401 with one of those Ensoniq Audio PCI cards.
i miss it sometimes
I really want to pick one up. To get one in pretty good condition is like $120ish USD. A bit much for what will pretty much be a toy.
The person I bought it from was asking for $150. I lowballed him with like $90 and he took it. This was like 3 years ago so memory isn't too good
Cheers! I like this synth for pad type stuff but I think the filter and the lfo are kind of lacking. Thanks for the reccs tho
How much?
Thinking about getting one of these unless anyone else has a suggestion. My brother has one and seems good enough for someone starting out.
Can't you borrow his? I'd get one of your own if you really like using it
as someone who produced music for over a decade in the 2000's this is really all you need. Limitations are your friend. I used something called an oxygen8 back in the day. That keyboard looks awesome. Buy the new reason if you can afford it other wise fruity loops if on mac you can buy logic. its never been easier to get into music today.

Got the pro version of the SC-88, two SC-55, an MT-32, an FB01 and an S2000. I'm planning to write my own patch editor for the FB01 (all of the ones available on the computer I hooked it to suck really badly). Everything you need to know about to make one is in the owner manual anyway.
What are some good soundfonts that are around the 8MB to 16MB range? I'm running Windows 98 and some DOS games with a Soundblaster Live! (it came with the computer) and I'm looking for soundfonts that won't take up too much of my memory
Best modules coming through
Just bought a FP-30, how do I hook it up via Bluetooth on my Mac trash?
OneStop.mid played on 21 different tone generators

How does Sound Canvas VA compare to this thing? Is it any good?
jesus butt fucking christ that image is awful
Don't listen to the other guy. It's amazing for what it is but never limit yourself to just a 25-key MIDI controller.
I would definitely recommend buying it, though. You don't actually need to use or install any of the extra software that comes with it, which is pretty cool.
It's really great for sketching out song skeletons real quick or just playing around without having to set up a bunch of different controllers and bits of equipment.
The pads are nice but sometimes not too accurate; I'd highly recommend turning off velocity sensitivity. The pads can be a tiny bit finicky, sometimes (rarely) they will miss a trigger or trigger twice instead of once. But this is so uncommon that it's totally negligible.
The knobs are not infinite and have no backlight. Make of that what you will; some people love infinite encoders, some people hate it. I've heard people say that the limited knobs give you a sense of context that infinite knobs don't have. I don't know...to me, it doesn't necessarily matter.
The keys are just a little bit small but still pretty playable. They're kind of cheap feeling and have little action but they're durable as all hell, so no need to worry there.
Anyway, for $99 it's pretty great for what it is. Definitely pick one up.
>tx81z.
Nice.
Sweet. I figured the price is low enough for me to play around a bit, but if I start really liking it I can always upgrade.
Precisely. The Mini MKII is really nice but I wouldn't necessarily say it's all you'll ever need.
Pretty much everyone who makes any kind of music has one.
Anyone know of a decent, free soundfont? Size isn't a problem.
