It was my #2, but Sup Forums likes to pretend that it's bad. Same thing happened with RAM back in 2013, they'll come around eventually.

>implying tame impala is good

>implying they aren't band of the decade

>Less I Know the Better
god damn, i knew it was good, but 14 million views in 6 months is a lot

youtube.com/watch?v=QhlPXa6g4C8
best song on the album imo

What do you like about it? There are way more instrumentally pleasant songs on the album IMO.

>They say people never change but that's bullshit they do
What did he mean by this?

Not even close. Tame Impala is shit.

nah i'm good

I rarely come here these days but is this a new meme?

Let it happen

Nah I don't really like the Beatles

he's memeing the people never change line

>Tame Impala is shit.
lmfao... this is one of the best songs ive ever heard in my entire life

youtube.com/watch?v=gE5bD54-ewg

It wasn't my AOTY but it is a good album with some very fine songwriting. I imagine the haters haven't seriously listened to it.

No, he's not as good as Morgan Delt, but just because he got more famous doesn't mean he isn't still good.

Btw my 2015 AOTY was this
youtube.com/watch?v=Vc6boofkkM8

no Sup Forums hates tame impala because people on reddit (a site where they supposedly don't go in the first place) praises him

>lmfao... this is one of the best songs ive ever heard in my entire life

that's the saddest thing i've ever heard in my entire life.

I hate Tame Impala because they/he makes shitty psych pop that people for some reason jack themselves off to all the time, even going so far as to claim it's the best music of the last decade or even longer.

I hate them because they've based their sound almost exclusively on shitty psychedelic revival. They really, really really want to be the Beatles circa MMT-era and it shows. Psychedelic rock has already had three revivals, for fuck's sake.

See also Animal Collective

>implying

I think I just hate psych rock/pop desu

why? whats the best song you've ever heard??

If you think this you are a pleb

no real answer? cool. ill just go back to loving one of the best bands on earth

I don't think I even listened to it entirely.
Pic is mine.

huehuehue

He's obviously false flagging you fucking retarded redditor

No

Nope

Reddit happen is a good song mi familia

...

This

>Inb4 I get a ton of shit

I dont care! I was at a happy point in my life and this came out a little bit before halloween 2015, and that whole month I listened to this and had a spooky month and fun with my friends. It will always remind me of this album.

also my #2, my #1 being Depression Cherry

why the fuck did you download this image 6 times

just stop

thought it was just ok when it came out but I've been loving it this past month for some reason

Not really. The album was just droll and middling in its attempts to be light and catchy. The annoying falsetto, relatively long runtime, filler, vaguely existential lyrics, and unchanging sound don’t help the album’s case either. The overall result is directionless and dime-a-dozen revival pop made to fill space on alt-radio.

Not that Tame Impala's attempts at psychedelic rock are any better though.

It's so hard to pick just one AOTY 2015, they were all so close.

Boris - Asia
Boris - Warpath
Boris - Urban Dance
Bjork - Vulnicura
High on Fire - Luminiferous
Tame Impala - Currents

Why? I mean I liked it, but I'm not allowed to like other albums more?

>that guy who has no concept of melody

It's just that Tame Impala's airy melodies simply don't do the trick. Melodies are nice but without proper support/accompaniment, the melody is practically wasteful because there's nothing to show for it besides the limited merit of the melody, which is just an ingredient of music, not a dish.

If you want a 2015 release that I thought had great melodies, there's US Girls - Half Free, Destroyer - Poison Season, tricot - A N D, Susanne Sundfor - Ten Love Songs, and even Health - Death Magic. Anything Tame Impala can offer pale in comparison IMO.

hm. I can't listen to "Disciples" without admiring the melody, and parker himself has penned at least a dozen others I think are solid (from lonerism/innerspeaker) but I'm willing to give your suggestions a try. to me "airy" isn't a bad thing, its part of the "dreamy/atmospheric/psych" style. I agree not every song is a hit, but some supposed "filler" I really enjoy from a sonic perspective like "gossip"

Disciples is actually one of the better songs on there desu.

Lemme backpedal a bit. I don't hate Currents. I just don't necessarily see the point of it. There isn't really any time of day or mood where I would willingly listen to this for enjoyment even if some of the tracks aren't that bad. For everything this album does well there's another that does it and more.

Elder - Lore

shitty vocoder and beats and synth

Nah, as far as arrangements go Tame Impala is some of the best pop music going on right now. Like, not top 5, but top 25 or so for sure.

But I defer to your knowledge man, what treasure trove of songcraft do you know about that makes Tame Impala irrelevant?

It was the best album of 2013.

Or he downloaded 6 different images named download (probably from some app that names them all download)

>implying

That album is literally gabage.

>taking australian band seriously

this just happens when you download an image off google images.

There wasn't anything that good last year though, this album isn't great but it doesn't have much competition so I can easily see it being AOTY for some people.

It was :)

>2015
But yes v good choice user

Good album but the Yes-like cover got me thinking it was going to sound wayyyyyy fucking different than what I got.

cover's honestly better than the music

Currents is "ok." Some songs I really loved, like Disciples and Gossip, Love Paranoia and The Moment was good, but most of the other songs were so bland. I know Kevin was never known for his vocals, but they were especially shit on this album. His guitar-work was the best aspect of his last two albums, and the compositions of Currents just doesn't match up. I loved Innerspeaker and the other one when I first listened to them. I mean, absolutely loved them. But I tried listening to them again recently and just couldn't. Tame Impala is just so mediocre, I don't get their absolute praise everywhere

>t. moron

My personal fav.

ew

i hate lonerism, its sounds dated, the production sounds like fucking shit, but i actually really like currents

I think Lonerism is a pretty good Psych album, definitely their strongest release and I would consider it more then just an "attempt"

Currents just feels like he toned it down and smothered it in 80s/vaporwave aesthetic tho probably a 5 or 6 out of 10 for me.

bb Courtney Barnett had aoty of course
