What would I want to add to mpv to do somewhat what madVR does for Mpc-hc?
I still use a medium preset for madVR because playback ended up being uncanny looking and not as snappy when I messed with it myself.
I mostly just watch anime. w10, Ryzen 1600 + rx 480 if it makes a difference.
There's so much to tinker with in the gpu renderer options and the filters section of the manual that it's a little overwhelming.

What VapourSynth scripts do you use? Looks like they charge for SVP on Windows.
I haven't used VapourSynth with mpv since debanding was added in vo.

How do I install add-ons? There is no mpv directory in program files.
mpv has HDR tonemapping ported from liblacebo.

Can mpv change the refresh rate of my monitor/TV to best match the media that is currently playing like MadVR?
Can mpv resample the source media to a frame rate that is closer to the monitor refresh rate like Reclock?
If so, how do I go about this on my Windows 10 media PC?

If I set profile=gpu-hq this happens. Why?
WHen are they going to release a new stable release? They supposedly fixed the not overlapping windows taskbar bug, but the latest stable I dled still has that problem
Your mpv is outdated, use opengl-hq instead.
I think the version of ffmpeg they want still hasn't had a stable release.
