Speed test Thread

Watching TV, Xfinity commercial says theyve boosted download speeds a bit for free.

Wish they would do something about the upload but damn this is the fastest bandwidth ive had yet

Looks like they lowered upload speeds to give users faster download, Id trade the boost in DL for a boost in UL

Kanker snel
But i'm seeding rn that's why
Normally its like 3
but whatever

Comcast is the most Jewish ISP when it comes to upload speeds. Even century Link DSL has better upload offers

Yea it sucks but Ive read on multiple forums their system just cant handle boosting the upstream as well

semi-rural australia.

Feels good. I had 50/50mbps, but they raised my price $15/month last month, since one of my discounts expired. I opened a customer service chat, and politely asked if they could restore my old price. Not only did they lower my price back to what it was, but they doubled my speed. Verizon seems to have gotten a lot less shitty lately.

This is while seeding, and streaming video from a plex server to my phone, and music via mpd+icecast2 to an Android tablet I built into the dash of my gf's car for gps, music, videos, etc

That's because they actually got rid of the 50/50 package. In my area anyway now it's just 100/100 and gigabit.

Yeah, fast.com reports 740mbps for me

Why would you use a dedicated speed testing software program instead of just using the website like everybody else?

you poor thing

I fucking hate my ISP. Last month I didn't have internet for three fucking days because some dipshit Cox employee fucked up something with the lines to my house while doing something else on my street.

Then, after I made an appointment for these faggots to come fix my line the day it went out, I couldn't get them out that day, so I had them scheduled to come out as early as possible on a Saturday.

Then, I get a fucking call on Saturday 1 hour before my appointment and the woman said it was shut down due to copyright infringement, which was complete bullshit because it wasn't, and I don't torrent, only use MEGA, so the dumb bitch that called CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT without even telling me so I had to spend another fucking hour on the phone with these retards to tell them it's unacceptable and they need to send out a tech TONIGHT because I run a business from my home and can't do everything over my goddamn cell phone plan.

Also, their infrastructure is SHIT where I live, I mean absolute dogshit. I know I live in New Orleans and our infrastructure is already shit, but specifically Cox's own internet infrastructure has some serious goddamn issues here. Sometimes upload speeds drop to literally zero, and I've done all the testing possible including changing every single Coaxial cable in my house, getting a new line put in, new modem, etc. and it was still happening. Thankfully hasn't happened in a few months though.

tl;;dr - Fuck Cox Cable. by the way I pay $100 / month for this. At least they are supposedly rolling out Gigabit Internet in my area soon. I'm hoping AT&T does first so I can just switch to them though.

I live in slidell, across the lake from nola.
Here, Charter is pretty reliable. Do you only have access to cox?

Cox and AT&T are my only options for Internet here. I wish I had another choice. Cox practically has a monopoly.

AT&T offers like 50Mbps maximum in my area atm, I'm hoping that they roll out Fiber in my area soon.

Feels good to be on Fiber Optic :)

Attached: Screenshot_20180311-180818.png (1440x1246, 514K)

Any idea why my ping is so much higher than most fiber bros? It seems most other people with fiber have single digit pings, and mine is always 20-30. It doesn't really matter, I don't think I oculd ever notice a difference, but I'm just curious.

couldn't be happier

you might be particularly far away from your ISPs central facility and it may be routing your traffic through a slew of other areas before it ever leaves the ISPs own internal network to the greater internet.
