The 80s were way better than the 70s though
70s was only good starting in 1976; there was good prog and krautrock in the early 70s but the late 70s was when white music finally caught up to black music in the rhythm department
>inb4 cuck
You have to admit 60s rock was very rhythmically simple

When we're comparing entire DECADES I have to simplify things. 60s-90s, the most important genres were rock and r&b (including soul and funk)
My favorite albums from the 70s actually include a lot of jazz albums but jazz was a negligible, tiny part of the decade at large
You have to make sweeping generalizations to have this conversation in the first place
Haha oh boy
Kill yourself, you massive ignoramus
>My favorite albums from the 70s actually include a lot of jazz albums
You can practically tell this dude's a fusion shitter

Typical 80sfags
Are you referring to no wave or what? I was trying to give a wide sampling of lots of different genres. I am assuming if OP is making sweeping generalizations about an entire of decade of music, he's not familiar with that. Also, most no wave bands formed in the late 70s.
>Possessed
lol
But they were most active in the 80s, no?
>1600s>10,100BC
What, you can't handle neanderthal rock? Fucking pleb. The 10,100s BC was easily the best decade ever in music
No New York came out in 1978. Suicide's s/t came out in 1977. Teenage Jesus & the Jerks put out all their singles in the 70s. James Chance & The Contortions' "Buy" came out in 1979, and so on. SY was mainly active in the 80s though, hence why I included them.
Possessed are fucking awesome, and the first death metal band. idk what kind of music OP listens to but if he's a metalhead that should count for something.

Substance?
Substance is a compilation...
Joy Division was active from 1976-1980. Curtis was alive in the 1980s for 5 whole months. They are definitively a 70s band.
They were most active in the 70s but they still put out recorded songs in the 80s therefore those songs are of the 80s. 70s joy division is best joy division though.
>discussing decades instead of centuries
That's fair. tbqh I just like to think of them as a 70s band to their credit, in terms of how far ahead of their time they were. They are from the 70s but sound 80s because they basically laid the blueprint for 80s goth rock and post punk.
I think it is slightly misleading to call then an 80s band if they were only active in the 80s for half a year, but I see your point.
I completely agree with you.
>70s joy division is best joy division though.
That'd be true if Closer came out in the 70's
>poptart
My assessment is as follows:
00's>70's>90's>60's>10's>80's
...
UP is the most mediocre album I've ever heard. Substance is a good little singles comp. Closer is an incredible album.
I disagree but respect your opinion.
