>u will never get paid for travelling around and impregnating rich ladies

I get paid to work on FOSS.

I mean, I'm salaried and I'm frequently ahead on my projects and there's no inventors clause in my contract, so I spend a non-insignificant amount of my office time contributing to open source on my employer's dime.

I'm the guy who is breaking everything and making stupid pull requests though because I still clearly have no fucking clue what I'm doing.

This better be bait.
You know that depending on your location part of those projects belong to your employer, right. Unless, that's what you meant by "Investors clause".

Already living it.

I wish I was a syndicated newspaper cartoonist.

my dream job is doing absolutely fucking nothing

I walk into a room everyday, where there is just one desk and one computer. I don't interact with anyone while I'm at work. My daily task comes in via email. I complete it, and then go home.

my dream job is being a pornstar but I have a tiny dick

YouTuber , I've tried and am trying but it's hard.

Gigalo.

I want to be a race car driver.

Being a computer scientist.

Like not a programmer to be just like Zuck and Jobs, but an actual scientist. Though, I am almost 30 years old when I realized what my dream job is. It is too late for me...?

>Being a computer scientist.
In the real world, there is no such thing.
You are either in theory (software architect) or in practical applications (developer).

Become a Virtual Youtuber. Nobody can resist a cute animu girl (male).

What jobs/positions would you guys recommend a 2nd year computing student?

I recently started building my portfolio but would also like to get some work experience during this summer. I'm thinking something simple like database admin, data entry, etc cause I'm not confident enough to go straight into development field.

Thanks

Tenured Professor at R1 Research university

That image is what my office is slowly becoming this exact thing. I lucked out that I got put in a shared office when I started and I've second every offer to move out.

Several years ago I worked as an "assistant" for some artists who didn't know anything about programming and electronics but had won a lot of grant money to do things with LEDs, sensors, projection mapping, animatronics, etc. It was the funnest job ever but the pay wasn't enough to get by on and the artists took all the credit for my work. Since then I've been getting a portfolio together and trying to win my own grants. Build whatever I want all day is the dream job.

I want to be a security consultant. It's a long fucking way away but I think that's my endgame.
The idea of working for a firm whose clients pay truckloads of money to fly you out to their locations across the world and have you tell them what to do, just sounds wonderful.

My dream job is doing nothing and getting $3000 deposited into my bank account every month.

a freelance dev

I honestly wanna be an electrician. 90k salary base and it's fun. Shame it's gonna take 4 years.

Hey I found your first client:

Probably to get out of tech support (currently teir 2/3 helpdesk, write a shit ton of documentation) and become a forest ranger or biologist.
I love tech, but god damn 90% it painfully dull in a work setting. Even doing helpdesk has sucked my passion for programming out of me.

I don't know.
Maybe something with astrophysics, even a researcher if it wasn't so tedious

I want to do remote sysadmin work from a warehouse that I both work and live in. That way I could build a small private data center.
