hey guys, I was wondering if you could rec me some 80s synth music with vocals on it.
Now before you start naming some top 100 shit, I'd like to know what you enjoy the most, not what's the most popular.

hey, that's pretty good!
Do you have any recs with normal vocals and maybe funkier leads?
i love the prophet 5:
I really like Deux
They released a few singles in the 80s but not really much else but they have a few compilation albums released somewhat recently with unreleased stuff on them.

Moderne are another cool French synthpop group

Oppenheimer Analysis might be my favorite, or at least the album they released

oh my lord
everyone else, thanks for the recs so far.
Does anyone have anything that sounds darker? not like black metal, but something a little bit original
also is there anything that sounds like that comfort album by sweet trip?
I like that surrealist sound (please no vaporwave)
New Order
check out "Substance" by them
Talking Heads' "Speaking in Tongues"
there are a lot of great synthpop single compilations out there
it's not 80's, but Cold Cave is extremely dark synth based music
check it out, i think you'd like it
It's interesting, the guy having a naturally unappealing voice kind of turns me off though.
This is my last question before I go to bed, do you guys have something that actually does kind of sound like synth black metal? I hate to use this example, but something with a similar vibe to deal grips. Something chanty?
Some industrial sounds like darker synthpop. Try Throbbing Gristle - 20 Jazz Funk Greats (though that's '79, I can't remember if any of their other albums sound like this) and Cabaret Voltaire - Red Mecca. Not sure how much vocals those have though.

The Residents can be kind of dark too at points, though I don't think they're a strictly synth band.
their song "beware" by the way
Not Op, but Oppenheimer Analysis if great stuff
You see, the reason I ask for these types of requests is that I'm a music maker looking for inspiration. I enjoy the sounds of a lot of these, but the darker I make the sound, the harder it is to combine it with vocals.
Oh and Depeche Mode if you haven't already. They're kind of more popular than I imagine you're looking for but they fit the criteria of dark synthpop (at least for some of their stuff) with vocals.
Here's some stuff you may like.
