first for GOAT obscure shit

1st for Kvelertak

why the fuck did death 'n' roll never took off?

keeping a backlog would be useless for me since i listen to the album after i download it and then possibly never listen to it again and download a new one again, and i'm okay with listening to whatever so i don't even have specific bands or albums i want to check out

Where is the new Katalepsy?

well, fuck

Is the new album any good?

because it was a shitty idea to begin with

Thoughts on Abigail Williams?

youtube.com/watch?v=WHAczdMWrtI

It's great IMO.

nu metal took off
metalcore took off
deathcore took off
BABYMETAL is taking the world by storm.

death 'n' roll is basically the same formula.maybe the world isn't ready for it yet, idk.

it just happened at a wrong place and a wrong time desu, if nu-metal happened in the 80s it probably wouldn't have taken off either

Boring

That album cover almost looks like something I'd expect to see on the cover of some "deep" seinen manga in the late 80s.

>Tfw you will never slay posers with the members of Virgin Steele and Manowar
Metal for this feel?

Twilight Force

why is tech death the worst fucking genre ?

Because it's not since melodeath still exists

Because plebs took all the wrong lessons from Suffocation, Cryptopsy, etc. No sense of atmosphere or songwriting. Just brickwalled production, shitty riffs, and nonstop blastbeats.

>why is [x] thing
>because it's not since there's [y]
every time

what about shitty filler solos ?

I swear I will never get memed into listening to tech death again. I used to like cryptopsy but it doesnt do anything to me anymore.

the drum mastering is so fucking good holy shit

this is the best.

What else is coming out this year?

Death Angel
Beastwars
Grave Miasma
Gruesome
Sabaton
Defeated Sanity
Kvelertak
Gojira
Candlemass
Despised Icon
Assassin

heaps more, too many to count

pic related, best album so far from 2016.

even a new bon jovi record, fucking gross.

My favorite metal bands are Behemoth,Scar Symmetry,Pain salvation, neurosis,Slayer and Coroner.

How pleb am I ?

Coroner's the only great band you listed

the other border from terrible to decent, save for slayer who released a few nice albums

you lmao

Slayer and behemoth are really 50/50. coroner is sick though, rest of those bands eat shit.

Even Holographic Universe is bad ? The riffs are catchy, the spacey atmosphere of the album is great and the chance between the clean vocals and harsh create a perfect balance. Also it has good hooks, something most of your fav metal lacks.

il admit i do have scar and neurosis in my library, i havnt listened to them in a long time, but i just dont get the appeal anymore. they are both very bland bands.

x japan releasing their first album since 1996 in october

>"I want to bring back the old X sound. Too often is the modern visual kei scene focused on style over substance and too focused on the irrelevant details over the greater picture. It's time we show other bands what their roots really are. Visual Kei was hijacked by stylists who make music, no longer is it for musicians who wear style. We're bringing back the metal, the speed, the power, the passion in Visual Kei."

>is solely responsible for visual kei turning into trendy pop rock and flower metal
>"WE WANT TO BRING BACK THE OLD SOUND BECAUSE PEOPLE FORGOT THEIR WAY"

Fuck Yoshiki.

>We're bringing back the metal, the speed, the power, the passion in Visual Kei.
Doubt it, re-union albums are never good. Admirable that he sees modern VK for the pansy flower faggotry that it is though.

>Admirable that he sees modern VK for the pansy flower faggotry that it is though.

Don't buy into Yoshiki's bullshit, he's the sole reason visual kei turned into corporate flower faggotry in the first place by telling random indie metal/indie rock bands to split up and then forming "super groups" out of the best members from these bands, and then put them on big labels to shill them. Yoshiki, and Kamijo from Versailles literally ghost-write most of the flower metal and pussy rock you hear from the modern VK, effectively ruining the genre since the old thrash/power/speed sound effectively died, and then has the balls to pretend that he had nothing to do with it.

Yoshiki killed visual kei because he's a moneyhungry slanty-eyed jew who wants his shekels and now is just raising publicity by saying "w-we want to save visual kei".

>Yoshiki, and Kamijo from Versailles literally ghost-write most of the flower metal and pussy rock you hear from the modern VK
What the fuck, I knew J-power was soulless but this is on a whole new level. Is there any evidence for this?

hellodamage.com/top/2010/03/01/interview-with-an-ex-visual-kei-record-executive/

guy wrote music for 10 bands
>"most of these bands can't write songs"
>"they script your between-song banter so you don't sound like an idiot"
>"A typical visual kei performer is an ex-bosozoku or ex-chinpira, a high-school drop out"
>"In the beginning, one of the things I found the most ironic, was these band members: these very tough-talking street guys, playing these very femme-y, androgynous roles which were straight out of a shojo manga"
>"the label owner sets his sights on the best members from 3 or 4 small, go-nowhere bands, and tries to persuade them to leave their bands and form a super-band"
>"I can give you an example l:DIR EN GREY is made up of members from a few bands"
>""'Roadie chains' are another interesting phenomenon of Visual Kei! Here's one example: KOROYUME was a band, their roadies went on to form dir en grey, which had the same image! And Dir en Grey's roadies formed a band called THE GAZETTE. Another example. . .MALICE MIZER's roadie was named Kamijo(the vocalist for versailles) - a year later, he was in his own band called LAREIME, which looked and sounded like MALICE MIZER. In fact, he started a label called ARTIST'S SOCIETY, and all the bands on that label sound like MALICE MIZER (because he's the producer - he wrote all the music!)"
>""SATOH-SAN: There's lots of stories about musicians prostituting themselves. TDR:"You mean prostitute as in host club? Or as in, they got an ad in the back of gay pornos in the OUTCALL MASSAGE section? SATOH-SAN: Well, six of one, half a dozen the other"
>Yoshiki from x-japan started all of this

You'll also notice that most random j-power bands just spring up randomly out of no where and within the first year of forming they somehow have the money and funds for expensive music videos, and are signed by the labels most often accused guilty of ghost-writing.

The modern Visual Kei scene is a fraud.

What's some /metal/ approved blues music?

What are the best black metal + ambient albums?

...

Nearly all VK post 00 is fake, save for the few modern VK bands that sound like bands from the 80s and 90s.

The only j-power bands around right now that aren't fake are the ones who actually ghost-write the music in the first place, or j-power bands who aren't associated with visual kei at all, like galneryus.

Jesus Christ
>Dir En Grey
Not even surprised, that shit always reeked of mall metal made for a profit

Lurker of Chalice

Dir en Grey recently broke away from those labels, which is why they've been a lot more progressive lately. They don't rely on their labels to write their music anymore.

Reminder that Black Metal is just Surf Rock with distortion.

anything by the 3 kings.

I'm okay with this.

black sabbath

How the fuck is the first track so heavy? Even moreso than Painkiller which was like 5 years later.

Im basing my fav metal bands on bands I used to really like when I was into metal. These days I only really listen to coroner tho :/. Trying to get back into metal.

Surely I will find what I like past all the shit ?

Yea if yer a fuckin RETARD
>muh tremolo
Just stop embarassing yrself

Arguably, it did. It's just that there's only so much you can do with it.
In fact I'd say it remained relevant longer than any of these. You keep getting echoes of these shit genres because they're easy to sell, unlike Death 'n' Roll.

Virus - Memento Collider (June 3rd)
ColdWorld - Autumn (sometime late June
In The Woods.... - Pure (definitely this year, though no specific date as of now SO HYPED)

More specific? Most DSBM has a strong emphasis on ambiance. Stuff like Darkspace, mid-era SieghetnaR and the obvious Burzum/Burzum clones (the good ones) are your best choices, I think.

idk man, i consider this one of the greatest albums to exist in metal. even if its not my primary listening genre, this album just kicks ass.

youtube.com/watch?v=EaBcKfc3cH8

youtube.com/watch?v=ymGo2q-SSOw
ok

>triggered this easily

They could've pulled it off so much better. What a wasted idea.

I guess post-punk is just Longue/Bossa Nova with distortion then
youtube.com/watch?v=8oWO7Om17v0

You should do it then if you can do it so much better

Rest assured, I'm about to record

hell ye

yeah it is

REEEEEEE

Do we like Virus?

no
new Gadget and Rotten Sound were decent though

i thought this was pretty good
sissyspacek.bandcamp.com/album/disfathom

the only virus i've seen posted in this general was the gook speed metal band.

solid 8.5/10

thanks, I didn't even know spacek did anything other than noise since pic related is all I've heard by them

Gadget, Collision, Priapus, Shitstorm. And the new Venomous Concept album is kinda fun.

nah

Hi I'm retarded

How do I find black metal that aren't big names from Norway, but aren't shitty atmoblack or Darkthrone worship

just look up finnish black metal bands or any specific region

what are the /metal/ approved albums ?

none

do we listen to (diy) crust?

youtube.com/watch?v=G7SanMCLBqw

Whoever disagrees is false

none, and it will stay that way, 20% of /Metal/ are normal metaheads who listen to what they want, and dont get up in arms when someone likes band x, the other 80% consists of those who get severly pissed off when someone gives a bad review on an atmosphere band, sunbather, or vektors new album.

Leprosy>Human=ITP>Symbolic>SBG>SoP>SH

Whoever disagrees is a hipster poser like

well sunbather is shit just like most shoegaze le epic wall of sound shit.

I think /metal/ seems nice so far, unlike most of mu here you guys actually talk about different albums and music and not just bunch of top 40 shit.

Most of what we talk about is the metal equivalent of top 40s or pitchforkcore

All day mah man

youtube.com/watch?v=m9U9kkXvtXw

switch TSoP with ITP and we have a deal

No deal

...

it's a fact the people here with the best taste are the ones getting laid the most

SBG>Leprosy>Human>ITP>Spiritual Healing>Symbolic>TSOP
Anyone who disagrees is a mallcore poser who doesn't know shit about true death metal.

hipster poser

t. hipster always loving the first album

Black metal, like all european metal, is aesthetically stagnant. It's what happens when Power Metal turns 14 and becomes edgy.

Compare the aesthetics of US metal genres like sludge, stoner, grunge, death, etc to european genres like melodic death, power and black metal and it becomes apparent that europe is infantile, sissified and immature.

i know this is just shitposting but
>power metal turning into black metal
kek

thats why i stick to forums, people actually talk about old albums aswell as vektor and kvelertak

pic related

>Finally found a copy of pic related
>It's absolutely fucking awesome and probably their second best album
Why didn't anyone tell me that this is a top tier album with great melodies, riffs and even basslines? Goddamn.

>Human anywhere near the top

SBG>Leprosy>SH>Symbolic>>>>ITP>>>>>>Human>Shit>TSoP

Chuck's prog stuff is boring as shit.
