Listen to it louder

Not a lot of people here do. Easily top 5 greatest albums ever.

You're either pre or post adolescence, don't worry, in any case.

So you have to be a teenager to understand it?

no, you have to like good basslines and free jazzy stuff. Because it's literally that.

>DUDE COMMUNISM LMAO
>DUDE FEEL THE BERN LMAO
what is there to get?

Essentially, yes.

how is this music political

Sup Forums, ladies and gentlemen.

it's extremely political but it's not what says

One of my favs. Their album from 2015 tho not as good, was still quite good. It is also much more accesible.
I know many people will get mad at me for saying this even tho im a pop group fan, but maybe, listen to the st vincent cover of beyond good and evil, it is much more accesible and clear, it might help

I'll explain what I consider enjoyable about this record.

First of all, do not continue reading if you're not an intellectual like me, I have a PhD. Anyways, this album, oh baby, this album right here, The Pop Group's "Y"... Ahhh... It's a rhythmic opus of mayor proportions that delivers an antique puzzle of basslines and free jazz drumming of epic proportions. You wouldn't understand since I guess you have only listened to some few free jazz records. Anyways, my simpleton friends, what's not to enjoy about the political views we can cherish upon? We all can bestow under the wonderful complexity that these Heaven-sent gentlemen confered to us. I'm shedding a tear right now as I type this. Just remembering this epic masterpiece. I have to listen to it again as soon as I can, I cannot wait to listen to them in my high fidelity sound system, a thing not the casual listener has a hold of. Hahaha not that it matters to you plebeians. You may attempt to listen to this again now that I showed you the way, the lightened path, you may "try" to look for the amazing details that I mentioned. (Emphasis on the "try")

Good luck.

wtf

cool man that's a nice explanation dude

Me neither. I was so excited to listen to it, too. Entirely too much wank on this LP. I guess I get why people like it but I prefer my post-punk more straight-forward and melodic.

the pop group are a bunch of retarded communists
how did you not know this?

>checking the archive
>it's not pasta

how is the content on the album political is what i'm obviously asking

salty that tyrone didn't unlock the cuckshed?

i don't know what that means

10/10 best new pasta

lmao go eat stale bread, ya pinko

are you trying to meme me because you didn't know how to answer my question or are you on the wrong board

I'm always suprised how much post-punk is inspired by funk and dub, and how little of that type of music I like

...

It's literally just not that great.

I'll explain what I consider enjoyable about this record.

First of all, do not continue reading if you're not an intellectual like me, I have a PhD. Anyways, this album, oh baby, this album right here, Justin Bieber's "Purpose"... Ahhh... It's a rhythmic opus of mayor proportions that delivers an antique puzzle of basslines and free jazz drumming of epic proportions. You wouldn't understand since I guess you have only listened to some few Billboard Top 40 records. Anyways, my simpleton friends, what's not to enjoy about the political views we can cherish upon? We all can bestow under the wonderful complexity that this Heaven-sent gentleman conferred to us. I'm shedding a tear right now as I type this. Just remembering this epic masterpiece. Good luck.

It's not quite well-made enough to be pasta, but it's pretty good.

The lyrics, man

>I'm shedding a tear right now as I type this.
fucking lost it at that.

...

The Modern Dance is better

LOL

I didn't either.
Then I listened to it again.

i don't get it

>The album Y (Radar, 1979 - WEA, 2002) was one of the premier events of Britain’s season of punk rock. The militancy of the group was spectacular. Their music was broken, violent, and anarchic, and this record is filled with gasps of rhythm, hailstorms of chords, and gusts of screams. The commercialism of the funk music included was utterly skinned, torn, and sacrificed at the altar of musical and political revolution. The tracks were held like services in the name of a bold synthesis of African primitivism and urban classical music. The compositions were crude, coming from seemingly primitive and barbaric artists who knew only two forms of expression (dancing and screaming) and only a single theme (the struggle for survival). The album contains a string of bloody and scary scenes, presented in a nuclear magma of rhythms and chords. As that magma unfolds, a mad, psychic tension nourishes each vibration. Disgust and fear make up the tone of the album’s social prosecution, which adds to the ferocious and crushing air of the music. The record is in no specific musical style, and instead it borrows from a jumble of different genres: avant-garde, jazz, African folk. Experimentation, improvisation, and tribalism are vital aspects of both the music and of the social commentary that it aims at. The lyrics are, almost paradoxically, both naive and metaphysical, pagan and political.
>The world evoked by this music is raw and hermetic. It is a world of ruins inhabited by savage cannibals, which can be interpreted as both a vision of post-apocalyptic humanity, or, even scarier, a vision of current humanity, equally barbarous and ferocious in current capitalistic metropolises. Y is an extraordinary cross between a psychoanalytic session, a psychedelic trip, and a pagan reportage about musical truth. The sound of the Pop Group, especially on this record, reflects the anxieties and depravity of modern society.

i don't get it

This is easy to get though

this is actually horrible

how is a band comunist in our society????? Like the only way that they exist and people be enable to heard it is because capistalism.
Those band are like Cannibal Corpse or something, just sell fantasy... -_-'
Why do you idiots fall into this meme? The Knife, The Pop group, any shit like that?

i'm glad to hear you\re informed about the political climate in 1979

>*farts sounds of saxofon with some homosexual screaming*
>yeah,take that system >:^)

Cause the music's good.

It's a revolt against tonality and meter in dance music, a bold fling into the avantgarde. This is when Autechre truly started making art: the compromised, chained experimentation of Tri Repetae and Chiastic Slide are buzzfodder for publications. Confield is sonic beauty.

>mfw they were 18 when they made this album
>mfw no face

i remember this maymay

Us oldfags xD right?
