There's no such thing. Each region/country has their own flavoring really. But I would suggest starting with Floridian death metal. Arguably the most influential scene. So start with bands like Morbid Angel, Deicide, and Obituary. Particularly the albums Altars of Madness, Blessed are the Sick, Legion, Slowly We Rot, and Cause of Death.
