So, have any of you m8s been injured from a broken guitar string (like an eye put out or it cutting you). Pictures if you have em.
Guitar string injuries
worst I had was one that went into my hand didn't hurt at all but my hand was covered in blood after about 30 seconds.
i don't see how this is even remotely music related.
>not music related
>guitars
>changing guitar strings
YOUR not musically related.
I went to a punk show once, the lead singer guitarist was drugged up and way too hyped.
Midset he breaks a string from playing too hard. It snapped back in such a way that blood started splattering his shirt and face. He finished the song then lost his shit completely.
He london calling'd his guitar to splinters, than pulled out lighter fluid, doused the tips of his dreads and lit them on fire. Starts headbanging with his locks on fire, tufts of napalm-esque hair hitting people in the front row who are screaming and running for cover.
He is eventually tackled and put out with a fire extinguisher.
Closest i got op
...
I've broken a few hundred guitar strings. I think the only thing to really worry about would be a loose string going into your eye. It wouldn't happen as a result of the string breaking in my opinion, but I've pricked my finger a few times with the end. Honesty, an eye injury is probably 8 times more likely to happen fishing or something.
Fellas, is it even worth me changing my guitar strings if I'm just playing in my room?
Yeah, at least every 4 months. After about two or three, or sooner, they'll start sounding awful, and if eventually they'll just break while you're playing or tuning.
yes, if you want to play in different tunings then you might need thicker or thinner strings. Or if they break or have a sound unpleasant to you. But its all up to you.
Unless you're hovering directly over the strings it shouldn't hit you, as it snaps outwards. Only "injury" I've ever had was I pricked my thumb on the edge of a cut string and it surprisingly bled for awhile.
thats pretty metal
holy shit do you guys like barely touch your guitar? I HAVE to change my strings at least every month because they get rusty. I can rust a set of strings in 3 days, and that's with washing my hands before/after and wiping down my guitar
lol no.
it sounds to me like you either pour water on your guitar regularly, live in the fucking rain forest, or have reallllyyy shity strings.
I'm always afraid of changing the top three strings because of the possibilities. Knowing my luck my eye would get cut.
>I can rust a set of strings in 3 days
That's not how oxidation works you fucking retard. Kill yourself for posting fabrications on the internet, you absolute fucking subhuman.
you'll probably be fine, but if your really worried, wear safety glasses or something. anyways, changing them probably wont cause them to snap. just tune them down until they seem like spaghetti before you take them off.
>he just happened to have lighter fluid laying around
i think this guy was prepared
the dreadlock stunt is some Blackbeard tier shit pretty based
a string snapped so hard it came up and cut my eyelid, it was way more painful than anything else ive experienced
>mfw Nylon classical guitar masterrace
That means no sharp ends, worse I get is the coiled copper unravelling
I do have a story though, once tried to put cobalt strings on my classical guitar about 10 years ago maybe, after a few days the actual bridge snapped off my guitar, to this day I use the same guitar, just nailed the bridge back on, sounds gorgeous
lucky the neck didn't snap really though because there's no truss rod in it
lesson learned guys, don't put metal strings on a classical guitar
why would I ever even think of doing that?
Well, I did it because I was serious about practising and wanted my stamina to increase, so using metal was the way to go. It worked for stamina by the way, great for those long pieces for the left hand
>london calling'd
My sides
>at least every 4 months
I've been playing for the last year and I haven't changed my strings in at least three years since I've had it.,
I'll take a look into what I should change them for.
What the fuck
>live in the fucking rainforest
You should see a doctor about your sweaty hands dude.
no cuz im not retarded
>browsing Sup Forums
>playing an instrument
wew lad
lmaooo
I've never changed any string since I have my guitar (2008)
>not playing an instrument
Read what you just typed, hopefully see the irony in it. Than kill yourself
>have one friend
>busted ass knuckles from hitting dad
>high on heroin
>wants to play guitar
>takes rods out of hand
>recovery takes like a year now
id post the photos but i dont want to get banned
so heres a guitar he splattered in blood
I bet it sounds dull as shit.
>64

You are all fucking retarded. The amount of time between replacing strings is entirely dependent on
A. How much you play your guitar
B. What quality of strings you have
C. How good your ears are at detected a dulling tone
There is no one right answer but generally it's 1-3 months for a string change if you play every day.
does anyone here besides me know what the fuck they're talking about?
it doesn't
I poked my thumb with one of the slacks i was taking off. I was only bleeding a little so I was fine.
It does. If you haven't changed your strings since 2008 and you play regularly, your guitar sounds dull as shit. The reason you can't tell is because you fucking suck.
I said a range of 2 to 3 months
, same as you. The other posters and I just didn't feel the need to include the fucking obvious like you.And you're still wrong, there are at least two other things that affect string degradation time.
This
No, but I cut myself while strumming plenty of times. Also my right index fingernail is fucked up.
Didn't mean to quote you my fault.
you guys just reminded me to change my strings.
I jumped a little when tuning my e string and it snapped.
"This"
That's just disgusting to think about, 8 years worth of grime and shit. I bet your guitar sounds like a tin can.
Meh it's an acoustic Ibanez
>blood started splattering his shirt and face. He finished the song then lost his shit completely.
