Why do people still talk about The Strokes and treat them like they're relevant when they're in the same category as Hot Chip, The Rapture, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Broken Social Scene, Wolf Parade, TV On the Radio, Wilco, The New Pornographers, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail is Dead, Kings of Leon, The Hives, and The Vines as an "early 2000s overhyped band that has maybe 2 or 3 good songs but is irrelevant now and should not be talked about."?

The amount of people who care about a new Strokes album is mind boggling.

The most influential band of this century.

For better or for worse.

>what is radiohead

Everybody in the band is like-able and interesting. The dynamic of the group in performances and as a group to look up to is just god damn crazy. I only wish to be as cool as Nick someday.

cookie mountain and twin cinema are good albums ya cunt

You're saying this like you and the entirety of Sup Forums don't listen almost exclusively to irrelevant music

This

Now fuck off

they made one or two good albums tho. and they brought back that cool televsion/the doors/velvet undeground new york thing.

probably because they made the best album out of all those bands, an album that has had immense staying power.

>doors

a shitty band

are you trying to say the vocalist in the doors is not cool? idc what you think of the music

Why is she touching her knee?

cause they're great.

maybe because they literally made the most influential album of the 2000s?

I don't really care for the Strokes in general but Someday is so fucking great. Is Is This It their only good album?

nope, their other stuff is pretty good too

It's an ass

someday

>Broken Social Scene
>maybe 2 or 3 good songs [...] and should not be talked about
>:(

It's by far their best album. Room on Fire is good as well, other stuff is anywhere from bad to okay.

it's bait silly

>she

...

>Wilco
Why do people think YHF is the only thing they've ever done?

>likes the strokes
>says radiohead is a shitty band

is this allowed?

I AIN'T WASTING NO MORE TIME

>the best album out of all those bands
lmao what the fuck. As if

I have no idea why half this website loves to jerk it to The Strokes like there's no tomorrow. Julian Casablancas fucking outright said he lifted their sound from Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground. It's just a decades-old unoriginal sound set to some nice pop songs.

>unoriginal music can't be good

their sound is called garage rock _revival_ for a reason, user. it's still dope as fuck

They were the first indie industry plant band, they'd probably be even bigger if they came out today cause you got shit like carseat fagfest being labelled as anything but mediocre trash

they weren't an industry plant, just rich and with connections

Same thing basically, their rich daddies paid for all the glowing reviews

>some nice pop songs
try a collection of the best pop songs ever written

I need someone to describe to me whether or not they're good, i used to know someone who would never shut the fuck about about The Strokes and the members of the band and how much she loved them.

Bottom line is, I've had this band ruined for me before i ever got to try them.

just look up an album and listen through like it's just another band.
Is This It sparked my interest immediately

I feel like I was like this with my ex.

Give them a chance, they're pretty good

they are excellent. the majority of their output is vastly underrated.

Completely forgettable band still living off the hype of an overrated first album

So far it's been pretty good listening, only issue i'm having is being reminded of what's her face, which is pissing me off as i try to enjoy this.

Thanks for getting me to try them guys. As for you user no.4, we'll see about their other stuff and the rest of this album.

The Doors are a quintessential LA band and sound nothing like the Strokes. Television and VU sure

Most people who like The Strokes have never really listened to any non-popular music. They're the same people who think they're hipsters for liking Arcade Fire.

i listen to musique concrete on a daily basis and the strokes are one of my favorite bands
