slackware isn't hipster you dink its literally what old guys use because its been around forever and freebsd is much less "hipster" than openbsd based on market share alone
I tried out alpine but went with something else cause it felt like I need more linux experience first. The package manager felt really nice to use though
Grayson Gonzalez
How can I minimise OpenSUSE? (I can't get rid of systemd, because it is dependency for all software...)
never actually seen any rices of sourcemage, does anyone have any pictures?
Wyatt Gutierrez
This will shit up the install, I've tried already. Why? I'd better install Gentoo then. I need to make a wheight reduction of already installed system...
Mason Harris
>wine >minimalism thread really?
Alexander Howard
How is OpenBSD on desktops? Any good for a surfing/video/torrenting machine?
Benjamin Wood
what comic is that? I've been looking for something good
This might be a weird place to ask but do they make proprietary premium web browsers that offer integrated and effective ad-blocking/malware protection/private browsing? I'm willing to pay money in order to get an actually great web browser since it's probably one of the most important applications on my computer.
Josiah Walker
>dwm ok >i3 bloat ware >xfce are you serious? a whole fucking DE? rope yourself >thunar wtf? ever heard of shell? fucking clicktards >nano rofl dumbo mode engage. learn vim or rope yourself
holy fuck you soyface numales can't even into proper minimalism. faggots. go suck cock.
Carter Peterson
no nigger.
Grayson Davis
im used to ranger now and for basic things i just use cp, mv etc.
Justin Cruz
the only browsers I'm aware of that feature native ad/script blocking are Brave and (maybe?) Opera. I think if you use ublock origin + umatrix you'll be fine
Thomas Jackson
you fucking newfaggot. this is a very very old chart. Only day one's know this chart, newfucking faggot
Alright then. That's kind of weird but I guess I'll just stick with firefox+plugins. Since the web is basically dead in regards to variety in websites I was kind of hoping their was a web browser specifically designed to >stop google from data mining >stop youtube ads and maybe add integrated youtubedl functionality but with some sort of ip-masking so youtube can't throttle your bandwidth when you're downloading an entire playlist. >masking internet activity by having integrated vpn's that randomly distribute user internet activity across their own vpn's or something similar.
Thomas Reyes
compare debian net iso size to arch iso size
Chase Baker
Nevermind...
Jayden Lopez
If you are worrried about spyware. You gotta start with the hardware not the software
I use the vastly superior rofi.
>spoiler tag doesn't work on Sup Forums
Easton Anderson
rofi is not minimal.
Dominic Torres
but it's pretty
Christopher Gonzalez
hey buddy
Josiah Wright
How I feel about spyware is complicated. It's an evil, but I think there are definitely extreme cases where big brother needs to just not give a fuck that breaching privacy is wrong, like counter terrorism, or stopping child sex trafficking etc. Really I'm just more concerned with my everyday internet activity getting fucked over by people trying to control the internet.
I just want to be able to watch youtube, torrent anime, and access websites like I have been for the past 10 years or whatever.
Grayson Edwards
ricing is not minimal just use gnu/linux man(debian). Stop being paranoid
Henry Gomez
I'm using void with ratpoison and I'm looking for nice browser which isn't firefox(I'm using alsa which isn't supported by it). Although I heard that Pale Meme and Basilisk support it. Now I'm using botnet chromium, any recommendations?
Caleb Smith
isn't ratpoison abandoned in favour of stumpwm?why are you using abandonware
Josiah Johnson
Where is this Firefox not working with ALSA meme coming from? Did you really set it up correctly? I'm doing just fine on void
Landon Rogers
Can anyone please recommend a minimalistic wayland wm?
Jack Lopez
no
Isaiah Moore
Sway, maybe?
Austin Sullivan
I think it's still in development. I'm using it because it was way easier to install and offers clean, distraction-free environment. That's enough for me, I'll try stumpwm sometime, but for now I'm good. I'll check that tomorrow, but the fact is that ALSA works everywhere besides firefox for me.
What about Qutebrowser? How learning curve looks like?
Anthony Butler
qutebrowser is bulky
Charles Scott
Really? I thought it was really light compared to most of the rest
Brandon Collins
You think Void has stock Firefox? It can be opted out in a custom build or wrapped with apulse. Never mind it's actually more secure with pulseaudio; sandboxing is bloat.
Joshua Morris
Qutebrowser is pretty damn minimal for a functioning browser. I definitely recommend it, user.
Camden Peterson
Could you tell me the reader?
Jason Brown
>bashing nano go fuck yourself nigger
Jaxson Gomez
is paxctl (the tool to regulate pax flags with grsecurity) somehow systemd only? I can't seem to install it on hyperbola.
Colton Peterson
Tenkuu Shinpan is not your normal weeb shit and is more like Battle Royale. I always read it with Tachiyomi on Android.
Luke Kelly
10/10, time to ditch ranger guys vifm has image previews too.
Hunter Green
>neo-weeb shit no thanks budy
chromium fullscreen tiled
Owen Morris
Nigga I have less than that.
>i3 with 12GB ram Nigga you wat?
Michael Murphy
How long would it take to install gentoo stage 3 and compile some stuff like xfce and firefox?
Brandon Gutierrez
b-but i dont know how to use vim
Sebastian Hughes
Propably something around few hours, like 6-8
Jace Howard
I can vouch for pale meme on ratpoison.
Devs only fix bugs which these days are nearly inexistent, check the mailing list. Ratpoison is finished not abandoned, adding cruft to a finished project is not minimal is feature creep. Ratpoison masterrace!
Colton Rivera
lxde is lighter than xfce pcmanfm is better than thunar please mention mc as a file manager please list some stacking wms like icewm
Noah Cox
No problem, vifm is identical to ranger but less bloated, to exit type :q!, that's all you need to know. Just take time to configure it.
