seriously my favorite album of the decade

I feel this. I am huge Radiohead fan boy and really wasnt expecting much from their new album but holy fuck. Maybe top 3 RH albums.

it's in mine desu

1. Amnesiac
2. Kid A
3. AMSP

Am I wrong for thinking this?

Really?
I'd rate In Rainbows as 1.
Amnesiac comes in at close second.

Blew my expectations out of the water. Love the lushness of the instrumentation. True Love Waits is heartbreaking.

Identikit, Decks Dark, and Present Tense are my favorite tracks right now

Ful Stop, Decks Dark, and Daydreaming

feels like a culmination of their sound up until now, with all the good and the bad that brings
still like amnesiac the most but AMSP is a great album

Really an amazing album. I wasn't expecting it to be this good.

Kid A>OKC>AMSP>Amnesiac>IR>TKOL>HTTT>Bends>Honey

My nigga

Yo nigga, them dubs are tight.

Also, you are 100% spot on.

Why is Glass Eyes the best radiohead track ever guys, they even put it smack in the center of the album as if to say, "This is it. Our crown jewel."

Kid A>OKC>IR>TKoL>HttT>Amnesiac>AMSP>TB>PH

Wasn't bad but it isn't as strong as their other stuff

You tell me

Feels like a second swing at In Rainbows, but they miss completely.

Pretty funny you guys reel this way. Cause I honestly thought it was a letdown. Felt like In rainbows 2.0. Don't get wrong, I love in rainbows and radiohead as a whole for that matter. But these tracks are honestly not anything groundbreaking. Compare this to the release of Kid A. Seriously a groundbreaking release in the history of contemporary music. Now when I listen to AMSP, I just get kind of disappointed. All I hear are Thom's whines and same old radiohead. Nothing new here. There are some seriously good tunes on the album, but as a whole? No thanks.

Also this

No it was definitely Amnesiac 2.0. Track 2: Pyramid Song/Daydreaming. Kind of a giveaway. Agree on it not being that great. I actually wish they made some more recent original songs for it because using Burn the Witch for example felt really out of place.

Better than Kid A, but that's not hard consider Kid A is a fucking snooze.

Not baiting either.

Take that back

Well no shit it's disappointing compared to Kid A. Most bands would kill to release a single album as influential and revolutionary as Kid A. So why compare this release to what is arguably their best work made 16 years ago? Seems a bit unfair.

No

While we're at it Funeral and everything else by Arcade Fire is trash

>we
Fuck Sup Forums

But its a solid
9.5/10

Didn't like them at all, so I can't really disagree there...

So we should forget it happened and call AMSP a modern classic? I don't agree with it. Kid A happened and I don't care if its unfair.

Come on man...

>Funeral and everything else by Arcade Fire is trash
I wholeheartedly agree!

them dubs
Also, yes

> Burn the Witch for example felt really out of place.

I totally fucking agree with this, you have a nice album and then that song. Not that it was a bad song, but it just didn't belong on the album imo

Very emotional and minimalist.

It has a bit of both, ful stop could fit in IR tracklist and songs like the numbers and present tense could fit in Amnesica also Daydreaming feels like could fit in Kid A.

Replace burn the witch with spectre and you have a 10/10

Holy fucking shit, yes

Are you seriously that daft? 10/10...

No that's not what I'm suggesting. I'm saying you should just consider the album in its current time frame. Maybe compare it with albums of the last few years. I mean many people are saying its the AOTY, but then will also say its way worse than Kid A. Your frame of reference can hugely affect how highly you regard the album. At a point it just becomes pedantry, like saying "Shadows in the Night is awful, its not even close to Highway 61 Revisited"

Eh, no.

I think it's fantastic. Loving the deeper incorporation of strings and the album's general use of texture.

Swap Amnesiac with HTTT and this is me.

babbys first electroacoustic inspired album

i was a little dissapointed at first, i'm not into folky music and i like bleep bloop radiohead but damn... present tense is so beautiful, and the album flows so well... solid 8/10 for me

babbys first>....
that shitty meme is not an argument btw, i hat summer bitches

No, you're not wrong. Its close for third between In Rainbows and AMSP

...

Swap In Rainbows with Amnesiac and this is me (although IR and AMSP are interchangeable currently)

>Doesn't like Kid A or Arcade Fire
This is your opinion albumfied

Well, I thought that was a picture of Wiped out, but you get the point.

It's very good but some of their arrangement decisions suck ass.

I found this album really kind of boring. I think I am partly just pretty sick of thom's vocals but also the album is just really safe easy listening type shit.
Am I the only one who finds his vocal delivery really samey. That broken sound really loses any kind of evocative appeal when it's employed in a similar way in every single song. And yea, instrumentally the album was just really uninteresting.
Really safe, formulaic. Could have easily come out 10 years ago. not anything fresh

Sucks

>Could have easily come out 10 years ago
i don't understand this argument.. seriously, who cares if the shit is good it doesn't matter if is not groundbreking.

9/10

It's good for a band that's been around for more than 20 years desu.

Yea but its not that good either.

Like the band, extremely disappointed with the album. Painfully slow, boring, monotonous, one dimensional, and forgettable. It's too minimalistic. It sounds like Thom isn't even trying. Shame.

Bands of such high esteem, such as Radiohead, are in really unique positions where they can attract a lot of attention for what ever they do. So its just disappointing when they don't utilize this exposure to do something thats actually interesting or thought provoking. They could release whatever they wanted and the public would still rave about it so why not use this fact to educate the general populas' about the potential of musical creation rather than just soothe them with a numbing mist of soft and pleasant pop rock tropes.

I found Spectre fits perfectly right after True Love Waits. Picks you up right at the lowest emotional point of the album and lifts you up again. Try that, see if you like it.

Some ppl think radiohead should innovate yet don't use that to judge almost every other band/artist.

its because thom has a neil young fetish, jonny is long been more interested in scoring films, and the rest of the band are saps without their two leaders.

It's to Radiohead what AM was to the Artic Monkeys, mostly a safe step, using their known formula, kinda boring. The fact that most songs were live classics people already approved and waited to see confirms this point
But Artic Monkeys never stepped out of their confort zone, Radiohead is returning from a kinda bad adventure, so it could be a step backward to grab momentum to a step forward

Doesn't Phil have his own solo career? And Colin...well, he's actually been pretty great these last couple albums, better than usual anyways. So that leaves Ed and

Colin's solo career is the best.

I don't understand, but I am vaguely intrigued.

he was invited to play at a fashion show...he did accept the invitation

And then he proceeded to do a thing. Congratulations Colin, you did a thing.

o that's a gem right there

youtu.be/kIswDKTcukc
he even played My Iron Lung

after getting some proper headphones as a gift, and getting the 24-bit WAV version, i can hear the fucking floor creaking under Thom's feet in the second verse of Burn The Witch

AOTY

I love this version of the Seinfeld theme

this

It is so not another swing at in rainbows.

stupid choir for Identikit, deflating the bass guitar on Ful Stop, throwing out the piano from Burn The Witch

then again I really liked what they did with True Love Waits and Present Tense

how can we get them to make another kid a?

pretty good, just shy of an 8/10
either 4th or 5th best radiohead album

The same way we can get U2 to make another Achtune Baby. In short..we can't accept they are on the decline and never reach your expectations again and live with it

how much of that would have bothered you if you weren't familiar with the live versions? not trying to be accusatory as i agree that those were odd decisions, but idk that they would have bugged me if i had never heard the tracks previously. well, except the choir - i never would have enjoyed that lol.

"." after can't
damn typos

I did think about this. It is just really hard to break off the bond with the live versions I have been listening to for so long.I'll eventually get over it.

The choir is a real pain. It was used well on Decks Dark but it ruins Identikit

Agree with this sentiment.

I like it, but not that much. It's a bit disappointing and making me think more highly of TKoL, but maybe this is the new Radiohead cycle or something.

Like TKoL, it doesn't stack up against the strength of their previous releases and I'm surprised most people are saying it does.

It's somewhere between Tier 1 and Tier 2 Radiohead for me right now.

Tier 1
---
OKC
Kid A
IR

Tier 2
---
Amnesiac
HTTT
TKOL

Tier 3
---
The Bends
Pablo Honey (even though I rate this lowest, I still think it's kind of underrated in a weird way. Solid 7/10 effort, but everything they've done since has been better.)

If anything, this band is pretty consistent. I'm very happy with the album ATM.

Loved it. Every minute.
Now, pls has anyone figured out what he sahs in the beginning of identikit? Apart from amoon shaped pool of course...
PLS GUISE

Any interpretation for the titles yet?

>tfw the second half of Ful Stop on high quality headphones
The blending of all the different sounds together is just pure perfection

It's an energetic song and honestly the whole album is too mellow as it is, so if you delete BTW everyone will suddenly cry that it's a snoozefest.

I wish they'd come out with an album full of fast paced headbangers ala 2+2, Bodysnatchers and Jigsaw Falling into Place.

It's a mashup of half of the background lyrics there.

They definitely sang "Ice upon a top" and "Dancing clothes" live.

I don't understand... couldn't you just write it down?
What are those ice top dance clothes? Unreleased? Never heard before

It's an official lyrics card from the tour merch, but the words don't really fit. Also they added a bunch of fitting lyrics on here.

Also I really suck at decyphering lyrics, so can't really write it down myself, but the live recordings are a bit better, so maybe you can use them.

It's real sad that people actually think this is a good album just because it's Radiohead's work. It would have been ignored otherwise. Not a bad album, just mediocre stuff fueled by nostalgia.

meh, a moon shaped pool doesn't pull the lonely.

I like the album, but "In you I'm lost" is some shitty Yoda-tier shit sentence that's only worded like that to make it rhyme.

Phil is really pulling his weight on this album.

To rhyme it better with "in you I'm lost", sure.
It's worded like this because it flows much better.

If you really want to nitpick Yorke's lyrics go sleepyjack the firedrill and read some Kid A lyrics or smth.

>inb4 he did it on purpose

when will they release another great album like Amnesiac??

That's a fucking great line

Fills me with feelings of regret

Don't let the star wars ruin it for you, user.

purragnatism not ideallism
