Question about quadcopters, what are the benefits to building than buying say a DJI - if we're talking camera-oriented? Is it cheaper?

If you wanna do aerial photography, you buy DJI. Simple truth is that DIY solutions just can't compete with price, features, performance, ease-of-use, reliability, etc. I have a Spark for this reason & we use an Inspire as our workhorse at my job, thing is great at what it does.

Corsair K95 RGB. Nice Bert and Ernie and Atari.
Well damn, looks like I'll look into a DJI in the future then.

That's bias lighting

Yes, and it should give off light, you shouldn't be able to see the individual reflections of each LED.

If getting nice photos/videos is your goal, they're absolutely fab.

And yes, only b&w ()

That's sick. What kind of money am I looking at if I want to get into drones and shit? Like for a middle if the road one with OK camera?

wallpaper?

Completely shit, btw is that glass in the door broken?

>ms explorer
comfy

the lighting in there is literally psychotic. feels like some Brazilian internet cafe

Why does this look russian to me?

No guns in the UK.

10/10, would listen to beeps & boops with.

I have a soft spot for simple, unpretentious setups like this.

Scotland.

None. The bottom end of the market has too much competition from unlicensed people willing to do it illegally for party cash, the top end of the market has too much competition from big established outfits with decades of cinematographic experience & flying $100k setups.

Oh you mean buying one to play with, not making money from them? Refurbished Phantom of some sort is a solid start for photo/video sort of stuff, few hundred.

Yea just for shits and giggles. I just always loved remote control stuff.
>Few hundred
Sounds like it's right up my alley then. I was willing to do $500 as an entry level hobby. Thanks for the heads up.

That bike is just waiting to fall off

Racing/acro stuff like is a bit more expensive to get into, but $500 will still be plenty to get started properly if that's the route you want to take.

Very nice setup man! I just got a Moog Mother 32 to try and hold myself out until I have enough money to get a good modular setup on the go.

Comfy papes on your wall and nice setup.
What's in that glass tho?

Diet Mtn dew

Once tried mountain dew and tasted like over-sugared sprite. Maybe it just takes different here in europe

Nice, what kind of stuff you got going on over to the right there?

Well I was actually entertaining the idea of using a drone as like an automated security camera. Have it fly on a pre-determined path (if that's possible?). Fly around my property and stream it's data back to my security DVR just like any other wireless camera can. Is that a thing?

Holy shit, you could put a bit of ricin on the end of that needle and literally kill people.

Only thing missing is a hd6xx and a stand.

Part of me is curious to see whether the $1 9g servo would actually have enough force to put the tip of the scalpel blade through exposed human skin, but I'm not in the mood to experiment on myself today.

Sure, DJI stuff can easily be set to fly waypoint missions & they have at least 720p live video streams (not sure how you'd pipe it into your DVR, but there's probably some app that exposes it as RTSP stream or something). Remember that 20-25 minutes is the realistic max you'll get from each battery though.

Picrelated & related.

Working on it.

Attached: P_20180321_192502.jpg (4096x3072, 1.98M)

>20-25 minutes
Yea that's fine. I'd just want it to do 2-3 loops of my property and come back to land. If I can master getting a drone to fly a path on its own, I could do 3-5 drones lol.

I was looking at to get me started. I should know the ins and outs of a drone before I start going to try some more sophisticated shit.

Bad? Good? Middle of the road? My local microcenter also has cheap sub $50 drones with cameras that can be controlled via smartphone I was thinking of getting. Let me get used to flying a quad copter, maybe even scavenge the camera out of it when I'm done.

That's a race quad, like what I'm building in & flying in & is completely different to a GPS-controlled aerial photography platform like a DJI.

Race quads are completely manual control, they can't hold their position or follow waypoints or fly back to you if you lose signal, they don't have controllable cameras, etc. If you want to get into race quads that's a fairly generic but okay kit, but in addition to that you will need the controller (~$100), some batteries (~$20 each), a battery charger (~$30 to get you started) & 5.8GHz goggles/monitor ($50-500).

There honestly isn't a huge amount of overlap between the skills needed to fly a race quad via the live FPV video feed & the skills needed to fly something like a Phantom well. If automated waypoint flight is your goal & you just want something to practice the basics on before spending a few hundred on a refurbed Phantom 3, then grab something like a Syma X5C for $30.

Oh ok. I thought you could just mount all the stuff on it later. I.e. camera, GPS, etc. Like it was a blank frame and you just stick on what you need. Hmm.

I'm probably going to fuck around with the $50 on then. Just use and abuse it. Then I jump on a DiY kit when I feel I'm ready. Thanks a lot for the information user. Lastly, where do you order stuff from? Is there a site dedicated to drone/RC parts?

good choice of music friendo

no idea why but this looks very comfy

>Like it was a blank frame and you just stick on what you need.

Not really, I'm afraid. Same way you can't really buy a dirt bike & then turn it into a supersports with bolt-ons.

>Like it was a blank frame and you just stick on what you need.

For hobby/RC stuff banggood is great if you don't mind waiting. Otherwise I can recommend a whole bunch of UK shops but I suspect you're in the US.

I forgot to pause the video for that 1/4 shutter though :3

See

im sorry for the gamen computer

waitwhat

Fuck me sideways look at the size of the wing on that phone O_o

I have the same feeling, they always have a messing house with one cat. And always a bald guy.

I like my toys.
People do usually complain but I dont see it while sitting at my desk so I dont really care.

I am thinking of of replacing these three posters with three paintings.

Attached: 20180323_102247-1.jpg (2680x1866, 803K)

Poster frames will make it look nicer.

I just dont like them anymore, but I would feel bad about throwing them away because they were all gifts.

i frame and put away, rotate out framed pics as needed.

Thats a good idea, I guess I will look into that.

I was also thinking of getting the paintings because then I can fill the space between the canvas and the wall with insulation to act as wall treatments.

Anything I should add?
