this is literally korn translated into a noise format

Why do you relish on the opinions of 16 year olds?

Prurient is the best example of 16-year-old noise

lo-fi foo fighters

this board can really fuck up how you perceive music if you don't know any better

literally just 21 pilots

It is really sad how many people on Sup Forums feel threatened by the opinions of avanteens so they constantly make threads trying to bash them

...

i wish elitism was a thing again, could really benefit this board and probably a couple others

/sci/ and Sup Forums have both been hit hard by anti-intellectualism.

what about sissy spacek or infinite body

...

When I first came to Sup Forums there was a healthy dose of elitism that made this board as impervious to shitposters from the others as Sup Forums (for the most part is)

I'm not sure what happened

On one hand I can usually discuss even the most pleb genres I enjoy (k-pop, vaporwave) without getting mocked or ridiculed in any meaningful way but on the other it seems like it came at the cost of overall board quality

Maybe I care too much about this shithole

it's mostly fantano fans or people from Sup Forums since this board and /x/ seem to be the next step for anybody coming from there

i don't browse /sci/ so i wouldn't know

Because everyone knows 17-year olds who think of themselves as music-buff heavyweights for listening to Peter Brotzmann(whose music they still have no understanding of on a theoretical level) and The Gerogerigegege are Sup Forums's true intellectual elite.

...

better than shitposts like OP's and poptimism

...

I used the word intellectual because I thought it covered both boards better than the word elitist. It's not so much important that everyone is a stuck up twat listening to intellectual music as it is that the norm is to seek out challenging and interesting music, because this makes for a much more enjoyable board.

At least in my experience they actually attempt to discuss music, which is a better road to go down for improving your taste than making threads like this ad nauseam

>When I first came to Sup Forums there was a healthy dose of elitism that made this board as impervious to shitposters from the others as Sup Forums (for the most part is)
you're full of shit

(You)

Thanks for the (You), m8. Have one back !

this thread fucking sucks

thats not funny thats how my brother died

Not in the slightest. Maybe it was because I was younger in 2009 but the only thing extremely bad about Sup Forums back then that's on par with how it is now were 1 in every 5 posters being a trip.

I guess some would probably find the constant tumblr sharing threads bad too but I was pretty indifferent.

imagine getting so mad about something as trivial as not getting an album that you make threads like this to attack people who do

wew lad
w e w

Not better at all, actually.

>they actually attempt to discuss music

Have you ever actually been in any of the dedicated Sup Forums generals for "intellectual listeners"?
/daily/ is a colossal tripfag circlejerk that revolves more around them assembling their stupid fucking album charts and listening tournaments than it does around actually listening to the music on those charts. Their attempts at discussing music are on the level of teenagers arguing in the comment sections of Anthony Fantano videos.
/RYM/ is nothing but user-related melodrama, bitching about getting banned because an RYM mod didn't like someone's snarky review or making fun of people for their ratings. They do not talk about music at all, and if they did they would have nothing substantial to say.
And /noise/ is just unbelievably, shockingly stupid and incompetent on every level. There's not been a single time that I checked that thread out and came out of it with the impression that anyone in there had any idea what of they were talking about.

>I'm an art intellectual.
>My favorite albums are Machine Gun, '77 Live, First Utterance, Deceit, Ape of Naples, Hole in Heart, and Divine Music From A Jail.
>My favorite movies are, of course, It's Such A Beautiful Day, House (the Japanese one that you plebs have never heard of), The Human Condition Trilogy, Blade Runner, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
>Last but not least, my favorite books are Infinite Jest, Ulysses, and The Ego and Its Own.

Believe it or not, this is pretty much an accurate summary of every "intellectual" on this site.

I've been to a bunch although not those three. Usually its about the only time I can have a guaranteed discussion with minimal shitty memes getting in the way.

The one exception is /kpg/ which is 50% discussion 50% fap blogging depending on the time you go.

Also I can't speak for the three you listed but nobody in the ones I go to labels themselves something as pretentious as "intellectual listeners"

why make shitty meta threads like this instead of a thread where you
iunno
discuss music
inferiority complexes are a helluva drug

>This obsessed with looking cool

>"I listen to real art music, not that poser avant-teen crap! Bach, Beethoven, the list goes on!"

tbhonest wit u m8 that's the best of the best and they're the endgame of classical

Look at this embryo. Can't even parody these people correctly. 2001? Really? That's too deep for you? I'm sorry for you m8. No wonder you have such an inferiority complex.

>being mad at people for having better taste than you

t. person who doesn't listen to much classical outside of their high school band curriculum

/classical/ is that away

Yeah it's not that deep or challenging unless you are a pleb but it's still great.

being serious, is The human condition trilogy worth watching?

ITT: we tell people that they're idiot poseurs for liking albums we don't like

Boards of Canada

A real answer for you.

Doesn't need to be deep or challenging to be a damn good album, desu.

Yes. It's 9 hours long, but it's all amazing. I cried, and I have cried maybe three times in the past decade.

/sci/ is a joke of a board. I've seen a plethora of posts asking if they can be a physicist if they failed 10th grade algebra as a senior in high school, how to round numbers (seriously), and asking for help with 6th grade triangle geometry.

This is in addition to posters who ask dumb pseudoscientific questions.

I've only recently been on Sup Forums but there is very little positive discussion here. People here have very little tolerance for differences in taste or differences in types of music. I'm guilty of unfair naysaying myself and I'll try to view music through a more objective and less judgmental lense in the future.

At least Sup Forums is a vessel for accessing varied types of music that are difficult to find elsewhere. /sci/ just has very subpar list of textbooks in it's wiki.

here you go

>literally korn translated into a noise format

listening to prurient always seemed to me like a bit of a waste of time for that reason
something about the way he uses noise as this vehicle for totally histrionic and ridiculous goth angst never sat well with me
i mean this shit is just totally over the top, isn't it?

youtube.com/watch?v=VZVqMYgVZeY

What's up with the noise hate as of lately?

No, seriously, what's going on? Fuck this shithole.

nobody thinks wilco is challenging

I've never really seen Human Condition discussed, and nobody thinks House is anything more than bizarre fun.

It's also a bit sad that you see Blade Runner and 2001 as films that are too pretentious for you.

/daily/ sucks Sup Forums sucks computer sucks shut the fuck up its a meme joke "haha"

>as of lately?

Sup Forums's always largely hated noise
"noise isn't music"/"noise is shit"/"noise is pretentious garbage" threads have been a regular occurence on this board as far as i can remember, and they were always full of posts which agreed with the OP's claims

hey bud
i got a surprise for you

those were jokes
this is a joke comedy humor website image message board forum

i've been here longer than you mate, i remember people making threads shitting on merzbow and wolf eyes back in like 2008

HEY BUD
THOSE WERE ALSO JOKES

guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree on that one mate
prurient's a bit laughable though, we can at least agree on that right?

t. shitposter

good album? you mean angsty nu metal featuring angsty samples?

>i remember people making threads shitting on merzbow and wolf eyes back in like 2008

This. I love noise and is probably one of my favorite genres, but Sup Forums has always hated noise for some reason. I remember lots of Masonna threads that got derailed quickly.

...

TFUL282 aren't deep, but theyre v good

...

this. It's an incredible album, and it's very clever and well-produced, but it's not "deep"

lol I know right
OP & company are making fun of "16 year old intellectuals" by discussing the ethics of what makes one an intellectual and why that's important to the current state of Sup Forums

fucking retards

Even though it isn't the best lrd album it's still great idk why people hate it all of a sudden
