I would consider the act of writing HTML to be coding, but not programming since it's not a programming language.

I don't care to argue semantics, I care to implement something, be it by writing code or programming a computer.

don't make fun of me but man oregano doesn't give me anything and google is not being helpful. what does the oregano command do?

It's also a spice.

Professor > Teacher
Carpenter > Handyman
Programmer > Coder

Don't be a idiot OP

It gives italian sauces a nice earthy flavor

That’s retarded. HTML isn’t code it’s markup.

Coding and programming are used interchangeably

i don't know if indians count as diversity hires

I don't know anyone who calls himself a "programmer" or "coder". It's either a software developer or software engineer you fucking retard.

Coding is when you use a tutorial that teaches you how to use a python script to download data off a website

Coding used to be popularly used in the 80s/90s, but I see programming far more often now. Maybe Americans have a tendency towards saying programming and I just speak with them more often now.

The terms are used interchangeably now. People who have no idea what programming is refers to them as coders

If you can't even compete with a pajeet what does that say about you? Grow up or kill yourself

LaTeX is still coding, but not really programming. I mean yeah you can make postscript do all sorts of crazy stuff but is it really programming?

"coding" is the nu-male version of programming

Pedantically speaking, coding isn't a real verb.

Technically speaking, coding refers to the act of encoding and decoding something.

Practically speaking, coding has become synonymous with programming, although the latter is more descriptive.

Morse code is "coding". It is not programming.

she's a big gurl

Is this a legitimate photograph? Holy shitstains, she's gigantic.

How is he culturally compatible is everyone at the company is a pajeet already?

>I find it bizarre that people use the term "coding" to mean programming. For decades, we used the word "coding" for the work of low-level staff in a business programming team. The designer would write a detailed flow chart, then the "coders" would write code to implement the flow chart. This is quite different from what we did and do in the hacker community -- with us, one person designs the program and writes its code as a single activity. When I developed GNU programs, that was programming, but it was definitely not coding.
>Since I don't think the recent fad for "coding" is an improvement, I have decided not to adopt it. I don't use the term "coding", except if I were talking about a business programming team which has coders.

>Engineer > programmer/coder
ftfy

>grew up on a computer
>can't teach himself
>it's everybody else's fault I'm shackled with debt
when will they learn?

Unironically this. It's a word used by people who are too lazy to use proper words if they're longer. You wouldn't food a burger, you wouldn't words a book, and you shouldn't fucking """"code"""".

There's a huge difference. "Coding" means taking data and rewriting it in a different format based on specific needs. Taking integer values in a set range and turning them into one-hot vectors is coding. Programming is the act of writing a program to perform computer instructions. Writing a program that transforms integer data into one-hot vectors is programming.

Moreover, it is a really good retard detector: nobody with even half a brain can possibly mistake one for the other after all.

You can't get a job as a self-taught programmer without a degree if you're a white man.
