Did you draw this? It's very pretty user!

Pace of advancement was too fast for too long. Everyone got used to computers doubling in speed every few years. By which time there'd be new languages and applications and everything, so why bother doing the job correctly? You'll just be throwing it out and doing something else before too long anyway. Hopefully the death of Moore's Law is finally going to slow things down.

I appreciate the picture, but if only half the time devoted to it was used reading some good documentation such as TAOUP or the pragmatic programmer, this would be a non-thread

>inb4 lol why don't you read your stupid books instead of lurking Sup Forums

It's like I'm actually on SO

Well that's because the whole comic is a lie
Theleft pic clearly shows someone that is better described as a computer scientist

>back then
yeah, just slap this shit on top of DOS, i'm sure it will run perfectly

simple, old engineers did everything they could so that we wouldn't have to worry about hardware limitations today. this put the younger ones in a position where they can get away with less efficient software overall (such as electron) to make their lives easier. it's a luxury.

You must be young.

Because, ya know, old engineers made the Intel Core series and AMD Ryzen series waaaaay back in the day

We're heading toward the hard times now

By this logic we should strive to keep things hard all the time, since that would maximize the number of great men.

Congratulations, you are now an AnCap

Actually this was socialism in East Europe. You had to be clever to achieve somewhat same level as the West.

I hate electron, it's bloat.

In past hardware were more expensive than time.
Today time is more expensive than hardware.
