This is the greatest metal album of all time, feel free to disagree but you would be wrong.
youtube.com/watch?v=kucmwST6O9I

hi

I got to admit, this whole "hurr durr I'm dmsharegay look at this dumb crap" shtick is pretty funny

>it's a recently spawned tripshit feels the need to post their opinion on every thing and post in order to establish themselves episode

>This is the greatest metal album of all time
Prove it.

Lads, I think As the Stars might actually be better than Torn Beyond Reason.

Just putting it out there.

Why are you asking me? I haven't listened to them.

Why are you replying to me? I didn't ask that.

It's an obscure and blackened thrash album from the late 80's tape trading days that became decently known as an ironic joke due to the intentionally grating vocal style and overly vulgar lyrics, liking it makes you look like you know more about metal than you really do and thusly allows you to seem even more obnoxious with oretentious opinions. If unfounded elitism over purposefully obscure inside jokes isn't metal then I don't know what is.

I liked this album, and really all of HWIII's stuff way more than I expected to.

See now why couldn't you just do that last thread instead of devolving into nonsense arguments?

I fucking hate looking at this album cover so much. It's just gross. And not even the cool kind of gross, like Pervertor. I'm talking like, the goregrind kind of gross. I can literally smell this album cover and it smells awful. Like poop or, you know, throw up or something.

...

ug ug

Ooga-booga. How long you stand there, freak? You some kind of -ooga-booga- Chinaman? Me put you in world of hurt.

There is something genuinely disturbing about it, more so than it being gross, it looks like a witnesses drawing of a massacre or something.

Now that feels good right in my dong
youtube.com/watch?v=PcarPYpd18A

I fapped to it once.

This is so basic tho. I'm bored already.

>This is so basic tho.
Which is why it tickles my nutsack

Prove it

Does no one else in this general stay up past midnight?

Friendly reminder that tripfags are useless peons and posers.

>useless
I'll have you know I'm one of the most vocal shitposters here

People who cant enjoy Slaughter of the Soul just have mental issues. Literally press play and enjoy. What happened to just listening to a fun album. Damn atmoshitters cant enjoy good music.

Sulphur Aeon rules!

>Country edition
how to kill /metal/ in one post

this is b8

I do a lot.

How so?

People who cant enjoy About That Life just have mental issues. Literally press play and enjoy. What happened to just listening to a fun album. Damn atmoshitters cant enjoy good music.

i listen to everything except rap and country

It's good but every At The Gates album came before it is better.

well just going by the time and post count that seems to be the case

Not b8. I actually own the SotS shirt and cd. I genuinely love this album. I dont understand the logic. They compare SotS to their early efforts. Of course they arent the same. Listen to just their old stuff that is fine. Red in the sky is a great album too.

Why dont we just mass report anyone with a Vektor trip as spammers. Wont that get rid of them.

ITT we pretend to be /Ebu Gogo General/

oogoo boogo oog oog terminoolooo redoogoogoo

>guitar riff
>pause
>"GO"
>resume guitar riff

Anyone here seen Skeletonwitch with the new vocalist yet? Im not liking what I'm seeing so far...

Saw them a few years back when Chance left and they played without vocals which was pretty neat actually, and theyre coming around again somewhat soon.

And? How is this bad? Literally just a thrash vocal thing.

Says the guy who likes vektor

>Anyone here seen Skeletonwitch with the new vocalist yet?
yeah and I fucking loved it but it was my introduction to them

The song opens up with its main riff which temporarily stops at about 0:05. This silence is sustained until 0:06 where vocalist Tomas Lindberg yells "GO" to disrupt the pause. The riff resumes shortly after.

JUMPDAFUCK
But it was one of my first heavy records so I'm not hating, still have a great deal of nostalgia for Under a Serpent Sun and Cold

You are literally cancer. Why are you shitposting? There are so many things you could be doing with your life. Go to a show and bang hot metal chicks or something. Stop being cancer.

Stop and pause. Think about what you are doing. Just stop and do something productive with your time.

he didnt come off too metalcore-y?

UGG UGG

So? He didn't deny it, he just asked why it was bad.

>Stop and pause
At around 0:05 the riff does just that so, in the brief silence, Tomas Lindberg can scream "Go" before the guitarists resume playing the same riff. At 1:34 Tomas Lindberg yells "Do it" right before a guitar solo.
youtube.com/watch?v=URhmC865SGI

good call and I agree but I thought it fit

although I admit I was drunk and desperate

WE

oogo boogo me tiod booga

The way it is arranged is meant to imply that Tomas' vocal command is what forced the riff to resume playing.

ebu et gojiga OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG OOG

So what does the riff do?

So? Voivod did it too. Are they shit now?
youtu.be/kFEB6Mn0rw4?t=2m38s

And your point is...?

It pauses briefly for a little over a second. Within that respite Tomas Lindberg yells the word "Go" and the riff resumes immediately.

So you're saying he says go while the riff is playing and it continues, then stops briefly before beginning again

you wot?

not that guy but what does the riff do? what does he shout?

what do you mean though?

does it feature Bjorn sprudka man?

I have no idea. It's not even a noisy piece.

The first seven seconds on the title track of At The Gates' critically acclaimed fourth album 'Slaughter of the Soul' consists of a riff (the main melody to which the song is structured around) being played for roughly five seconds. There is a brief pause afterwards which provides enough time for Tomas Lindberg to interject the phrase "Go" right before the same riff resumes. The first seven seconds of the song were structured in a way to present At The Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg as having control over the flow of the music.

Prove it.

I don't think that was the intention, can you post a better video?

______ - _____

Bjorn - Feel the speed

Quite the contrary, he says "Go" when the riff stops playing and it resumes after he utters the phrase.

The riff plays for about five seconds and briefly stops. Tomas Lindberg then uses the second for which the riff has paused to yell "Go" which is followed by the riff resuming.

For the first five seconds of the song the main riff is played. It stops. Tomas Lindberg then yells "Go" and it resumes.

It features Tomas Lindberg on vocals, Anders Björler and Martin Larsson on guitars, Jonas Björler on bass, and Adrian Erlandsson on drums.

Guys

Guys

Guys

Holy shit

Guys

not true

And you're saying this Thomas Lintbern character is being controlled by these riffs, as some kind of mouthpiece?

What band is this? What album? Where exactly on that album?

what nigga

When does this "riff" stop? What kind of riff is it?

But how can you be sure that it isn't the guitarist that is telling him to yell?

What key is the riff in?

Imagine if Vektor and Gojira teamed up to make a split.

The main riff can be heard from 0:00 to the end of 0:05. From the end of 0:05 to the end of 0:06 tge riff stops playing and Tomas Lindberg yells "Go" within that time period. At the beginning of 0:07 the riff resumes.
youtube.com/watch?v=URhmC865SGI

In this video you can clearly hear a riff being played for the first five seconds only to stop for about 1 second pause. In that moment of silence for the guitars Tomas Lindberg yells the phrase "Go" and immediately afterwards you hear the riff start up again. The fact that Tomas yelled "Go" after the riff paused and before it resumed in the narrative implies that his utterance of the phrase was the logical step in resuming the riff after it paused.

Quite the opposite, the fact that he yells "Go" before the riff starts again places him with dominion over how the guitars play.

At The Gates on their album Slaughter of the Soul, the song is the second track.

It stops roughly 5 seconds in. It is a melodic riff that features consonant notes placed after open string chugs in the manner of thrash metal but at a far slower tempo.

this general would officially be dead

Now why is this bad?

Tomas' voice is the only one heard

If I am correct At The Gates tune down to B

no it wouldn't vektor and gojira are shitty forced newfag memes, only way /metal/ would be dead if deathspell and ROTN made a split

It's not bad, if you're a fan of Disturbed or something.

Slaughter of the Soul is a melodic death metal album, a subgenre of death metal. Despite this the title track features a guitar riff being played for five seconds only to pause for a moment that allows Tomas Lindberg to yell "Go" before it resumes.

But he could be acting one of the other bandmembers directions.

You're doing it again, making all these assumptions based on nothing. It's very faulty logic.

what song has the most riffs

No those shitty forced memes are bad, only my shitty forced memes are good

whoops, fixed

I must go off of what I can hear within the song, even if a band member ordered him to perform as such the song is still arranged to imply that Tomas is in control. Whether he is or isn't matters not to how it is presented.

But why is that bad?

youtube.com/watch?v=_RFmCENIFSs

:20

>Whether he is or isn't matters not to how it is presented.
what? Are you trying to pull some old english bullshit on us?

>arranged to imply that Tomas is in control
Not necessarily. A riff precedes him speaking, and pauses to let him to speak. It is the one in control; he only speaks because it allows it. You don't hear him telling it to stop do you?

that's probably the best jumpdafuck performance i've seen, sorry

Despite At The Gates being a band within the death metal genre, the song Slaughter of the Soul features a riff that is interrupted and followed by Tomas Lindberg screaming "Go" before it resumes.

See this is what I was talking about.

And this has negative connotations to you? How?
