hey that's a pretty good chart
not sure what Body Riddle is doing there though, it's his best but Turning Dragon or his s/t would've fit better
skee mask = scntst ????youtube.com
>no Orbital
dropped.
>Lunatic Harness
>techno
what??
give me more cold minimal shit
Everyone already knows Orbital. Right?
I always feel like techno, dnb, two-stwp and most other electronic music is absolutely soulless.
good
>most other electronic music is absolutely soulless
Trip hop, acid jazz, house, disco aren't soulless, nor Craig David.
Genres like house, garage and the majority of breakbeat-based genres aren't soulless thanks to their influence from dub and funk music.
Where does Linear-S Decoded fit into this?
mmm...modern?
idt detroit techno is soulless if you understand that it is instilled with the sci-fi futurist dreams of black emancipation, born from the institutional racism these producers faced in the 80s. it's pretty much their fantasies of a future where they're no longer oppressed.
plus how do those lush pads not make you emotional?
Kinda what I was thinking too.
first wave detroit is pretty soulful
the second wave hard stuff is when things got mechanic
>music without lyrics
>soulful
you do know it's usually the vocal melody that ppl respond to emotionally, not the lyrics
This bait is too obvious, try harder next time
Got any ear grating industrial techno recs? I've been enjoying winterkalte recently.
so is thread like /bleep/ but with spoonfeeding? lol fuck off
Don't know winterkalte but maybe you'd like this.
youtube.com
the concept of 'soul' as you know it was invented in a board room by ad execs
indeed I do, thanks man.
Welcome. Here's another tune I like by them. Warning, extremely old school style beats and djing.

>when that sweet Peter And The Wolf scratching section comes in
Yeah bit of an odd choice, that's a breaks album, Tango N Vectif would've fit better
Where would Carpenter Brut fit into this? Or Perturbator?
what should I check out next in minimal techno if I liked consumed
fuck off
electro-metal?
but i need you to spoon feed me please im hungry sir
got a question, what genre would you all consider Gesaffelstein to fall under? electro house? ....dark techno? I don't know, I'm still a little new to this stuff.
Also any recs to similar artists to him? I love the dark industrial atmosphere he creates while still having danceable bass lines, I'd love to get into his influences.
memEBM
that pun is shit you should feel bad
>reminder there is nothing wrong with albums
Of course not. Why would you listen to anything but full albums?
no
nice bait
>two-step
>soulless
nigga what
Ansome
Perc
Not bait. "Techno is a singles genre" is just a /bleep/ meme.
garridge is hardly soulless.
granted, it's a fake soul, but it's still there.
uhhh...no
>fake soul
what
by trying to make me look stupid for listening to "'meme music" you just embarrassed yourself hardcore with what has to be the most autistically named Sup Forums meme term I've ever heard. you don goofed yourself
i mean, they're sorta right? he is meme ebm desu
I understand he's not the most innovative/original artist or whatever, that's why I fucking asked for recs of his influence. people here are just so eager to jump on people for what they listen to
>Not bait. "Techno is a singles genre" is just a /bleep/ meme.
It isn't.
sorry I probably sound triggered as fuck right now I'm in my 8:30 and pissed off
if it's a genre primarily played in dj sets (such as techno) that statement is not a meme mate
>Why would you listen to anything but full albums?
Sup Forums pls go
>Gesaffelstein
Never change Sup Forums
all shitposting aside, what even classifies as modern techno? those albums are all distinct with villalobos not even really being techno
take this fag shit back to your containment thread
>villalobos not even really being techno
???
>/bleep/ shitposters getting this mad
wew lad
this whole thread is a shitpost
it wouldn't be if you guys didn't shit it up
edm is for FAGGGOTS
good thing techno is the least EDM-ized of dance genres
normies just can't into it
Sup Forums you really are pathetic
>techno
>not EDM
wow
u all are 14 years old
EDM is just an american marketing buzzword for contemporary dancepop friendo
some techno is edm, some isn't
>Turning Dragon
most of that record is hard-hitting dancefloor tracks, it has little in common with what most people picture as "IDM
body riddle is a big stretch too. the only record of his that is through and through IDM is probably clarence park
it wouldn't be shit if you guys responded to my apparently fuckass question about gesaffelstein recs like normal people instead of shitting it up with patrician memes
i thought he was more house than techno?
that's largely the fucking point you nonce
besides the point, "soul' is a totally useless fucking descriptor, is abstract as all fuck, and thusly is in no position as a word to grant merit to any kind of music to the point where it becomes arbitrarily superior to anything else
yeah, it was pretty odd to even include an idm section on the chart in the first place. it should've at least been specifically the techno side of it rather than a grab bag of some of the more well known albums, hence why I suggested the two that I did.
I'd give you recs if I knew what the fuck I was talking about when it comes to straight techno stuff, it's been a while since I listened to a good bit of it
thanks for the sentiment user
>tech house
Why did all those legendary producers release the albums in the OP then?
Want to get into acid techno
where do i start? I'm a pleb as far as any type of EDM goes.
nice meme FAGGGOTS
Look, it's ok to be fucking lazy.
club music is for obsessive autists, it's not for casual listeners like most of Sup Forums.
You don't just throw an album on, you go digging.
not a meme.
have fun.
discogs.com
Why did all those legendary producers release the albums in the OP then?
>Why did all those legendary producers release the albums in the OP then?
Why does it matter, it's not the format of the genre.
For example, just because the Mala album exists doesn't mean it's the only thing Mala ever did that's worth listening to, far from it in fact.
Yeah thanks, i'll just randomly pick shit i guess.
>Yeah thanks, i'll just randomly pick shit i guess.
Have fun.
You might want to select "master" on the top bar, though, so you don't get any duplicates.
There's YT links usually, don't bother downloading or hunting for those tunes, you won't find most of them.
>it's not the format of the genre.
Why did all those legendary producers release the albums in the OP then?
>waveform transmission is detroit techno
>biokinetics and sandwell district are minimal
>kuopio is dub techno (HAHAHAHAHAHAH)
>what the frig is "modern" techno lmfao??
I think I'd take chavposting over this clearly clueless general
Why did they release hundreds of singles and EPs?
Because despite being a predominately dance music based genre, there is nothing wrong with albums too.
To promote the albums
how is this even different from /bleep/
ppl can be spoonfed in here lol
Why should there be only one thread about 30 years of techno?
Theres 30 threads about hip hop.
We listen to techno not shitty edm
I'm just curious what's up with Sup Forums's dislike for gesaffelstein? I don't really give a shit I'm just curious, he seems to make pretty well made music to me
aren't most techno albums fucking compilation of shit that get released in singles/ep anyway.
a lot of the time yeah, but it really depends on the subgenre
ambient techno, minimal techno, and other 'artsy' subgenres are released originally in album format way more often than other subgenres
