The Epic

So, why does mu hate this?
Is it just because fantango liked it?
Is it because it's really catchy and way simplier than other jazz albums? Is that even such a bad thing?

Why do you think people who like jazz hate Kenny G?

Because kamasi is a hack. I could probably play what he does and I haven't touched my sax in over a year

cuz its not really jazz?

Because its not a technical album, its not impressive for anyone with an understanding of jazz, it rarely breaks away from convention and tries to do something interesting (other than DUDE 3 HOUR ALBUMS LMAO). It's a decent album, there's nothing particularly wrong with it, but it didn't deserve to be named the jazz album of the year by so many music publications. Joey Alexanders My Favorite Things was way better and more impressive, both Ibrahim Maalouf albums were more interesting and concise (IMO Black Light, Red Light was more interesting) and Vijay Iyers Break Stuff was more fun.

I don't think it's supposed to be technically amazing

I agree on the fact that it's definitely not the best, but again, i don't think it's objective was to be really technical

And that's okay, but I don't want to listen to le meme jazz man noodle around for 3 hours

yeah I guess that's fair, it would have been nicer to get a shorter album

>So, why does mu hate this?
Some like it some don't. It was actually pretty popular on Sup Forums, which of course will make its critics more vocal.

>Is it just because fantango liked it?
I wouldn't think so.

>Is it because it's really catchy and way simplier than other jazz albums?
Probably not.

>Is that even such a bad thing?
It is if it sacrifices musicality.
