Thanks hampus with helping me through my idiocy

I don't think I have one yet. There have been so many okay/good albums. A few greats.
If you put a gun to my head, I'd probably say Sleep Cycle.
That being said I'll take any and all 2016 recs since I've listened to pretty much only big name artists.

I still need to listen to the new Gerogerigegege but I am afraid to out of fear I will hate it.

Go for it, man.

dude remember u had that whore fishkiller album? could u rip it

Last attempt, does anybody have some not-lame music or nice French classical recs?
It's been for a while, dunno why it wasn't added so I didn't myself. I might if I make more threads.

Have you heard any other gero? Thoughts?

ohh, it's hard to rip vinyls [sic!]

I think I am going to. Over the past month my taste palate has exploded.

Tokyo Anal Dynamite and Night.
I hated both actually.

/daily/ better get this I swear to god

Moenai Hai does not sound much, if at all, like Tokyo Anal Dynamite. I have not heard Night.

here's some weird avant shit and modern classical from france if that works

Say no more

shit get but at least it's not kpop ig

Thank you so much.

Well, night of course you're not gonna enjoy. Tokyo anal dynamite is noise and it depends on what you think of it as a whole, I know some people dislike TAD in particular but like other noise records but I do not know if that's your case.
Anyway Moenai Hai is pretty much Dark Ambient 3/4 tracks, the 2nd is some pretty potent noise, but pretty cool if you're into it. If you're not it'll probably put you off. Overall it's pretty accessible as far as gero goes.
I've heard that Ghedalia and some other Lionel record (not particularly enjoyed) , but I'll look into the third one.

New music from the Avalanches today?

Why are Zappafags just the worst?

Like the dude is arguably the most influential rock artist ever, but the threads about him are such cancer that it's no wonder people have grown to hate the dude.

I mean look at this shit
and people in the latter thread are arguing if Zappa or Grimes are better now. Like, fuck off.

Hey s !!jjK8RvFRaoG, the most experience I have had with experimental jazz were just random tracks that someone linked on fb and it was very dissonant and I was taken back by it. About your comment on noise, I definitely think it's something I could get into, but it would have to be gradually lol.

As for experimental rock, the only experience I have had with it was just The Sound of Animals Fighting - The Ocean and the Sun and even then, it's probably baby-tier experimental if at all. But I enjoyed it.

i'm also down for some jazz album recs as well. I've checked out miles davis, oliver nelson, john coltrane, robert ward, art blakey, and duke ellington. Swing jazz is probably my favorite subgenre but i have only listened to contemporary swing (which I think is called lindy hop?). Not really a fan of electro-swing tho.

Also, pic related is great imo

lmao
What's your favourite Zappa album btw?
I haven't listened to Apostrophe in a long time, might give that a spin now.

Listen to The Strange Warmings of Laddio Bolocko

Uncle Meat is one of my few 10s, but this shit may be soon too. A damn near perfect album that really goes unchecked imo.

fucking hell bojangle

>mfw archival dubspige

Good choice, I've always had a hard time nailing down my favourite Mothers album. I guess We're Only In It and then Absolutely Free.
I need to re-listen to Uncle Meat, though.

>tfw you will never live in a dystopian society filled with Sup Forumstants where you must have good taste to survive and this situation becomes a reality

Well it depends on what records by those artists you liked, as a big way of exploring jazz is by listening to people who play on albums you like already. So if you have heard Kind of Blue and like it, you can branch out to Bill Evans or Cannonball Adderley for example, or if you liked Bitches Brew, Herbie Hancock or John McLaughlin. If you like swing then it's worth to keep digging into Duke and also Count Basie for starters.
Some other important names in jazz you should also check out are: Charles Mingus, Louis Armstrong, Max Roach, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Andrew Hill and Bill Evans (as mentioned above).
Pic related and this might help too

>:^

how do you name your music folders guys?

>artist - (20XX) album name
i have the impression this isn't the best way to do it… but I can't be arse to rename +10000 folders desu

this is how I do it simply because of the reason you stated
the best way is simply have a folder with the artist name and albums inside

itunes renames them for me p easily. not that i really use itunes

>best way
is there another way?

musicbee renames folders for you, however you want to set it up

thanks for that link

i'm tempted to do that
>artist - [date] album name [bitrate] {Label number - reissue date}

is there anything with more energy than avant jazz, I can't get enough of it

pic related

I like it! got any more similar to this?

Thanks for all the resources, this'll keep me busy for a while :D

Do you use Musicbee as your main? I have it and it seems pretty good since its simple but i'm under the impression that one can do so much more with it

Help me get the job pls
How does this sound so far
If they hire me i will die

ill get and up mine tomorrow

pretty good! idk about the final paragraph tho, i don't think you need to go into that much detail about how you organise yr. collection and it seems a little autistic, might just be me though.

yeah, it's definitely pretty perfect up to the final paragraph. maybe either scrap that or reword it in some way.

Add your favourite quote from Guy Debord to seal the deal.

The job posting qualification says
"Interest and enjoyment in alphabetization, data entry, library management"
so I figured it's relevant information, since part of the job would actually be organizing records.

I would change chosen direction in life to "Though engineering has been my professional pursuit in school" (I assume)

Instead of I love attending live shows, I would change it to "I frequently attend live shows and lend support to local acts." Only because you use "I have always loved" in the next paragraph

I also think the last paragraph should be omitted

that last paragraph is sorta unnecessary desu, sorta even sounds like you're showing off that you have a big collection

just tell him you've listened to musical abortions

lmao I'm not jerkin my own dick kere guys, see

It also says under duties
"Filing, alphabetizing, maintaining and cataloging the existing collection"

you could probably sum that up with 'i am very organised and maintain a neatly alphabetised record collection' or something similar? if you have any past experience/qualifications that relate to organisation and stuff outside of your personal collection, you might want to cite those too?
these are just suggestions obvs.

I feel like you could reword it to fit it in a parenthesis or quick little sentence, te entire paragraph shouldn't be just that though.

Ah that makes more sense, I was like no need to go that in depth. Uh, I think the phrasing of exact space in the shelf may be a bit awkward, perhaps say "I maintain a methodically organized collection of about 500 records all alphabetized by artist" Or however you organized them, also record collection of records is redundant.

prior experience with data entry or organization would be nice to mention if you have any. Like I used to work at a bookstore so I could say I take careful consideration into the location of books and merchandise to maximize efficiency for the customers.

What exactly is the job?

the two haino records i ordered finally came in the mail, along with a new microphone, a glass slide thing for the guitar, and Theory of Obscurity on DVD, pretty hyped to watch it

this

>"I maintain a methodically organized collection of about 500 records all alphabetized by artist"
I take it back this still sounds odd

Eh, that would actually be fine if he placed it in there correctly.

My first review!

Oneotrix Point Never - Garden of Delete
12 Songs; 45 Min. 2015.

6.3
Favourite Tracks: Sticky Drama, No Good, Lift, Animals
Least Favourite Tracks: Mutant Standard, Child of Rage, Freaky Eyes, SDFK

Garden of Delete is a somewhat interesting album. It's major flaw is that you can only listen to Sticky Drama and then you've basically heard half of the album. Unfortunately, it's the better half of the album. Songs such as No Good and Animal and are very similar sonically to Sticky Drama, and honestly if you had four track EP that was just Animals, Lift, Sticky Drama, and No Good in that order, you’d have a much better and very very consistent release.

This album also tries the opposite and has some random tracks that honestly just feel like filler. I love my eccojams as much as the next guy but ECCOJAMC1 just does not fit the sound that this album is fighting so hard to keep to the rest of the time, and SDFK is a whopping one minute and twenty seven seconds of ambient that adds an intense drum line.

SDFK is perhaps the best example of how this album falls flat. Usually when people describe ADHD Music, it’s mostly something highly energetic or very catchy (grimemes, etc.). Garden of Delete on the other hand, takes on a much more literal definition of ADHD music. Every minute seems like a different track because it changes in order for it to stay interesting. Some tracks like Ezra, the eight minute long Mutant Standard and Freaky Eyes are extreme victims and feel almost unstable. The frequent switches sound rushed, therefore so does the album.

Garden of Delete sounds like if Arca wasn’t gay. Garden of Delete sounds like if Burial was forbidden from making Future Garage and only allowed to use default FL Studio. Garden of Delete sounds like a vaporwave producer’s attempt to make an album with a meaning deeper than just Summer is Rad, Corporatism is Grody. And that is exactly what it is.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I'm going with this.

>I know the
meme
music scene well

do Interpol pls

holy shit you got so much great stuff coming up

Just end my miserable existence

Tbqh your prose is a pretty janky (not that I'm one to talk) but the only remedy for that is writing more. Solid review, man.

>Garden of Delete sounds like if Arca wasn’t gay.
I haven't even listened to an Arca album but wew lad.

Also
>using p4k decimals
To what end

Enjoy the rest of that awesome chart tho

looks great!
>mutant standard worst track
in what world

Also I disagree with your last paragraph but respect your opinion

>Garden of Delete sounds like if Arca wasn’t gay.
That explains why it wasn't that good!

>Garden of Delete sounds like if Arca wasn’t gay
go away

for real tho
Garden of Delete literally sounds like a straight Arca.

If you think I'm summerfagging this:
thefader.com/2014/09/30/arca-producer-xen-interview-cover-story
youtube.com/watch?v=0SYMoTBYT04
>tfw your first listen to arca was because you're gay and liked vulnicura

saving thread with surprised owl

Yeah I think most people here would know Arca's gay. He's obviously pretty open about it. It just felt unnecessarily like an unnecessarily dicey comment for how little it described the sound of the album. But hey, it got you a lot of responses.

>It just felt unnecessarily like an unnecessarily

I don't think it's unnecessary. Being gay does fuel a lot of Arca's music and art in general, I'd even say his music gives str8s a peek into queerness and even gives them a chance to feel gay

>Garden of Delete sounds like if Arca wasn’t gay.
tru.
i feel like GoD is a stepping stone album for Daniel. If he is able to clean up this style and mix it with the vibes he had going on R+7, he will likely release another 10/10.

PICK SOME NICE MUSIC FROM HERE
rateyourmusic.com/collection/StuffRodHeardAfterAugust/wishlist

>I'd even say his music gives str8s a peek into queerness and even gives them a chance to feel gay
I don't get this at all, his music never sounded "gay" to me in the first place

it's generally pretty uncomfy with moments of pure bliss. Just like anal

im just imagining someone listening to Xen and being so excited they found the aural equivalent to anal sex

nah i get gay vibes. it's like the background music to a gay porno put though a blender

Is GoD worth revisiting? I'm a pretty big fan of OPN, but I remember being pretty disappointed with the album. If I remember correctly I only liked I Bite Through It and Ezra.

holy fuck I actually audibly laughed

i liked it a lot more after a second listen. it's in no way his best, it's still very sloppy, but there are some real gems.
if anything, listen to it again with the vibes this vid gives off in mind.
youtube.com/watch?v=td-e4i2BL_Q
it's still just a high 6 for me, but i feel it's an enjoyable listen now.

Okay yeah I gave it a 5 so we're in agreement.
Out of curiosity how would you rate his major releases?
I'd say Replica > Returnal > R + 7 > Commissions II > Commissions I > GoD >= Rifts

On second thought Commissions II should be after Replica, I really loved it.

what is UP my guys I got Bromst by Dan Deacon today. It's a nice, bouncy, energetic album that goes at the speed of light and switches stuff up at a moment's notice. My main problem with it is that it's kinda becomes sensory overload and its way too long (over an hour) and some of the tracks have very short attention spans which just makes them sound all over the place. This is basically meant to be a first impression and not a final decision but I'll eventually go back to it a couple more times

is GoD the first OPN album you've heard? I've been a fan of Dan for a few years and I thought it was a great pivot from R+7. Plus if you heard his RSD eps you had a basic idea of where he was going with his sound before GoD

R+7>Replica>Rifts>Returnal=GoD
Haven't heard the commissions actually. i will do that tonight.
A Pact Between Strangers is the best of his ambient works.
listen to America if you weren't as into Bromst. It knows how to pace itself a lot better.
Or if you just want a better take on the super high energy style, go for Spiderman of the Rings.
