I just grabbed a reproduction of a Beyonce beat and recorded over it with my USB mic and Audacity. First couple verses are my friend. I'm the spoken word-ish piece that starts at the 2 minute mark. Mostly looking for feedback about writing and ideas. I didn't produce (or even reproduce) the beat and this was the a very amateur recording full of clipping and lisping.

If you ever wanna kick them OG memphis lyrics I'm your guy. As always looking for people down to rap/collab. feedback welcomed?
Posted a new WIP, I'd love to hear what you guys think about it so far. I'll be returning all feedback on soundcloud later Wave >Chill >Experimental >Atmospheric
the sub kick on this sounds pretty sick, nice choice on that fm piano sound that subtle autotune is killing me though
i like the ideas but i'm assuming you're using a lot of digital reverb on the drums? they're either a little too sharp or a little too muddy, but as a stylistic choice it kinda adds to the overall harshness, horror movie vibe

subtle smoke and mirrors is actually really dope. i get a bowery electric vibe from it.

oh yeah, tons. artistic choice for sure, i wanted this piece to be abrasive and disorienting, not pretty sounding. the whole muddiness and distortion of the track towards the end is also on purpose. soundcloud.com/firon1/195-pm this is more like my usual "clean" mixing style. although i've changed a lot since, i guess. phil elvrum really inspired me to try and go for "different" as opposed to "good" sounds. because really, if I want to sound crisp and clear, I just have to pump some money into it, but for an interesting sound, I need to actually be creative. just my 2 cents though.

This shouldn't even be in a SC thread, it's way too good and pro. Reccing hard.
Pretty good start, I think - the vocals are good and the guitar playing is fine, although I think the guitar tone needs some doing. Right now it sounds a little TOO murky and lo-fi, and without more instruments to flesh the song out it leaves the whole thing feeling kind of hollow and without enough detail. Some more vocal harmonies and guitar interplay would bring it to life more, but what I think this song really needs is drums (or electronic beats if that's more your style) and bass - really just any kind of rhythm section to keep things driving.
Hey! You guys are rad. Didn't this come out on Cellar Door? Cellar Door is a good label.
Oh hey, I used to follow you on your old account. New stuff sounds pretty good.
soundcloud.com/benjaminpoole/madrugada-demo >indie or whatever, this one is just piano and vocal though >this recording isn't going to be officially released on anything because it was done with just one mic and is not that great but I'm pretty happy with the song
