>Band goes 16 years without a followup album >The idea of getting one amongst fans is almost mythical and cult-like at this point >Band knows there's no way they can realistically exceed the expectations that come with 16 years of hype >Announce the new album and purposefully put out a weird/lackluster single >This single dampers the hype considerably but not totally by any means >Once everyone's expectations have been lowered, release the album >The rest of the album is amazing, and everyone loves it because it was way better than what they were expecting after the hype was killed by Frankie Sinatra
They released it solely for its features, how does Sup Forums not realise this?
Nolan Morris
The same mental gymnastics AnCo fans used for PW.
Liam Morgan
Exactly - even more genius, they went for the two for one pleb punch, yet in context with the album Frankie Sinatra will still probably fit in perfectly
These guys planned for this shit
Brayden Edwards
and TKOL pt 2 is on the way right :^)
Eli Foster
Contrarian idiots who think these artists should pander to their tastes.
Christian Collins
Except Floridada was promising
Lucas Moore
Reminder this isn't the song Danny Brown said would change the world
"I did one song with them a while ago and it was cool," Brown told Triple J. "They felt like it was OK and I felt like it was OK. But then we actually got in the studio and made a record and I swear the record we made is incredible. 'Frank Sinatra' was the first one we did. That was cool but the one we did after that... I swear, if we put that out, it'll change the world. I heard it that first night and that was the only time I heard it. I wanna hear it again!"
OP is right. Even they felt meh about but featured it as a single so the hype would die down.
Nathaniel Miller
compared to the rest of the album, it is very weak.
Zachary Cooper
fucking digits speakin the truth!!
Jacob Moore
So why release a single that even the band members were iffy about? They makes no sense
Jaxson Hernandez
777 of truth. Avalanches are pulling our leg
Leo Ortiz
did you even read the OP friend?
Cooper Peterson
Is there a chance that this single won't make it to the album?
Austin Long
did you read the FUCKING ARGUMENT????
Connor Reyes
AND GOD IS SEVEN
Nathan Jenkins
Its on the track listing but maybe there will be an alternate version or get scarped after reception finally sinks in
Jayden Martinez
Trips confirm an elaborate ruse
David Brown
but then why isn't it the album opener too? it doesn't make sense to have it 4th. OP debunked, get dunked (on) ;^)
Jaxon Thomas
I have a feeling the song itself is shit and is shit as a single but in context with the album and flow it'll make sense and be better.
Daniel Taylor
The hype would be destroyed then, since the band would be equating it to SILY in importance.
Nathaniel Lewis
well you've got to have a strong album opener, everybody knows that, but yeah the album gonna suck.
Carson Peterson
...
Brandon Gray
What do you think of this, a leaked bit of If I Was A Folkstar
huh. sounds pretty good but low quality so can't really tell that well. i feel like all of these songs will be better in the context of the album anyway
Landon Hall
>And the Devil is 6 WTF!! how can i be the only one to notice??
Leo Barnes
Prediction: Frankie sinatra will be the weakest track, and will stick out like a sore thumb
Hudson Foster
does anyone have a high quality download for frankie sinatra yet? I only have the triple j copy
Anthony Phillips
Thats pretty good
Thomas Harris
that's more like it! I stillthought FS was ok, subways sounds amazing, and wozard of iz seems like it has a way better beat it to it so I remain optimistic
Gavin Hall
Where did you find this shit? If stuff like this is out there maybe we can expect the full album to get leaked pretty soon.
Am I the only other person other than user that unironically likes the new song
Gabriel Diaz
That is great.
Anthony Moore
Sup Forums not only fell for this ruse, but argued for hours in an autistic fit of rage
Adam Wilson
Reminder that if you hate Frankie Sinatra but haven't listened to El Producto, your opinion is worth shit.
Dylan Myers
frankie sinatra is ok
but I don't really like el producto. the music is good enough but I don't like the rapper on it
some of their b sides are gr8 tho. everyday for example.
Jaxson Sanchez
i thinks it's very good
Liam Morris
i do
Brayden Kelly
this is why I'm not listening until the album comes out
Landon Morales
Anybody notice that doom is kinda mixed low? kinda hard to hear him
Blake Long
I like it too user
Charles Long
it's decent but no more than that really. I can't get the mian hook out of my head at the minute, but the content of the raps aren't anything special, which you'd hope they were them being original content. still nice to hear Doom though
Angel Miller
It's a weird song that seems to have grown on me after a few listens.
Anthony Walker
I like it... it is Avalanches banger
Noah Cruz
It's bretty good
Angel Martin
I liked El Producto. I like Danny Brown. I like MF Doom. I still think Frankie Sinatra is shit.
Jack Parker
That's sort of intended sine the whole Avalanches sound is grainy turntablism and layered samples clashing with each other. Try spotify instead of the video.
Mason Cox
I'm listening to the Electricity EP rn because hype and because I never realized it was an alternate take + non-SILY tracks. Good shit.
I just can't believe people think Frankie is a new direction for Avalanches.
Brody Reed
I like it, too. I'll admit I'm not a fan of the oompah-oompah beat, but the vocal sample and the Beatles/Favorite things breakdown is wonderful.
Hudson Morales
no, people don't like it because it "sounds like reddit" or because muh meme rappers
both of which are invalid reasons
Nolan Stewart
oh ok thanks user
Brayden Hernandez
>the music is good enough but I don't like the rapper on it
how dare u malign darren 'the cornerstone of the band since 20 hours ago according to Sup Forums' seltmann like that
Alexander Fisher
I was disappointed at first but after I realized what it is and the type of track it is it grew on me exponentially with more listens, it's a pretty dope alternative hip-hop song. The sort-of cheesiness of the vocal hook's lyrics and melody wears off and it starts sounding good and it becomes a pretty enjoyable goofy banger.
Robert Taylor
god this board is retarded sometimes. people disliking a song because it sounds like reddit lmao what does that even mean
Jonathan Bennett
because rym called it electroswing therefore the avalanches are the new caravan palace and that music is for fedora tipping redditors unlike us cool dudes
Asher Miller
It's because it was mixed loud and you're supposed to listen it loud, the beat has equal focus with the vocals. I agree they're both mixed a bit quieter than a typical rap track but you're supposed to listen to the album way up and drown in the sounds
Jack Sullivan
This is beautiful. Like seriously this hav a very nice dreamlike vibe to it.
AOTD CONFIRMED
Isaac Adams
more gymnastics in this thread than in the Russian Olympic team smDH
Colton Campbell
???
Jaxon Cook
avalanchesshop.com/ Is this website legit? Because I already ordered the LP from it before seeing the deluxe LP from the XL Recordings website. Now I feel like I've made a huge mistake.
Oliver Roberts
Yes it's real you fag
Caleb Gray
You'll be getting the Australian version, which is p. cool. Shame about not getting the deluxe though, it didn't initially excite me but after seeing the inside it looks like it might be worth the extra coin
Alexander Ross
is that how their last album is supposed to be listened to? some loud ass headphones?
Isaiah Evans
That's how I'd do it, yes. And make sure it's the Zomba promo
Andrew Brooks
Bullshit how tf are you gonna quote something without a source dipshit
Brandon Rogers
google you fucking clown clown clown
Angel Taylor
If you were listening to triple j last night you wouldn't need a source you faggot
Omg there are some samples I haven't heard and Where's my baby? Thanks for this version user
Connor Martin
oh fuck aotd coming
Jason Brooks
I was thinking they released the one with the most popular features
Fans of danny brown and mf doom who have never heard of the avalanches will want to check them out
James Lopez
This. Plus it has a mainstream appeal to it
Noah Scott
This. Brown is big in the game right now and DOOM has a huge legacy.
Lucas Torres
I thought it was absolutely incredible. Nearly listened to it at least 10 times now.
Landon Allen
can someone explain me what's interesting in that band? i didn't get it back then. that since i left u track was what motown, with a lil trip hop and mashup feel idk i can hardly remember their vibe. nice but come on... nothing to flip out about. maybe a critical of people were ready for this.
David Morris
haha same I had to delete some last.fm plays because I just had it playing back to back. (Although they were spread out but still)
Connor Barnes
Listening to Frankie Sinatra while walking around the neighbourhood today was awesome. It made for a great summery feeling.
Jaxon Myers
The new album is going to be good. The problem is that Since I Left You was such a perfect album that anything else is going to be a let down. I'm not even sure if I want another album honestly.
Aiden Cook
FRANKIE ME BOY
Logan Bailey
This desu DOOM brought me to the this track I would have otherwise ignored
Nathaniel Torres
The fucking trips on this thread
Joshua Garcia
I would rather have Frankie Sinatra over a half-baked Since I Left You repeat
Easton White
But instead we're getting Frankie and a more fleshed out SILY
Jeremiah Gonzalez
i like the song
Ethan James
this is awesome
Jack Gray
NO FUCKING WAY THIS IS AMAZING YESSS
Ryan Reyes
this must be the song in the "since they left us" trailer
Hudson Ramirez
Haha what, Floridada is one of the best tracks on PW
Brayden Barnes
yeah it's called "the wozard of iz"
Jose Sullivan
floridada was the best track on that album
Kayden Price
holy shit it really is a grower, just don't listen to the music video
