How is acid house a stupid name?

House music with a 303 (acid) bassline

It's pretty simple

meme school

acid in how lemons are acidic?

electro swing

Idm

IDM is probably one of the most stupid if you take it literally, but I would argue the initials themselves have neatly found a way to describe an otherwise indescribable genre, and what they literally stand for doesn't matter at all anymore. "IDM" has become so widespread that it functions in its role as describing a kind of music perfectly, so it's actually one of the better genre names out there.

I would have preferred down tempo.

Trap house
Crunkcore
Psybient

that wouldn't make sense really as a large portion of "idm" is breaks-based and therefore the tempo is pretty high. idm is stupid tho, ia.

Sup Forumscore

Hmmm yeah

Downtempo is already a genre.

math rock

genres are useless. we should be classifying music by the emotion it gives us, not the structure it has.

plunderphonics

Too bad emotions are subjective and completely worthless in describing technical aspects

dude weed lmao x)

you can't classify something that's totally subjective. emotions are a more "abstract" concept while structure is formalist.

>we should be classifying music by a subjective element, not an objective element

physics rap

what's wrong with it?

history pop

>emotions are subjective

oh man ...... I've got some bad news.....................

think colin may have held him under the water.

bad news is subjective

how are they not when pertaining to reactions to art?

The fact that sound can be associated with events through something as simple as Classical conditioning should outrule any possibility that the emotion one feels when hearing something should be a widely associated label. Just because someone might feel "jovial" when listening to Electro-swing doesn't mean another would associate it with "irking".

Nerdcore
>Nerdcore is a genre of hip hop music characterized by themes and subject matter considered to be of general interest to nerds. Self-described nerdcore musician MC Frontalot has the earliest known recorded use of the term (to describe this genre) in the 2000 song "Nerdcore Hiphop".[1] Frontalot, like most nerdcore artists, self-publishes his work and has released much of it for free online. As a niche genre, nerdcore generally holds to the DIY ethic, and has a history of self-publishing and self-production

I was getting ready to shit on the genre but I really like The Depreciation Guild and I had no idea that's what they were.

math the band are pretty cool too, i used to love seeing them live

>art pop

Emotions are subjective. The same piece of music can evoke different emotions in different listeners.
