Why is it that there are only three good game soundtracks, when film has so many great ones of their own?

because you obviously have absolutely no perspective

explain?

Homeworld 2 has an incredible soundtrack

>elder scrolls

you clearly haven't played many games, or a wide variety of games

I've played many games.
My main interests are music and games.
But none of them have competent soundtracks.

youtube.com/watch?v=juOB-IbCwJc

>you clearly haven't played many games

thank god for that

I can think of plenty of amazing game soundtracks, but I'm assuming you mean scores? Dark Souls and Shadow Of The Colossus have great scores. Final Fantasy as well.

>Dark Souls
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
>SOTC
Can't think of a single great theme.
>Final Fantasy
Mostly midi-shit.

>hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Oh okay so disregard your opinion then. Gotcha.

Games only got around to using real orchestras and instruments in the last 10 years. Film has been doing it since the start.

Plus the game industry started 70 years after the film industry did. Its purely a matter of time.

Soule mostly uses DAW and virtual instruments but does it very well, good composer.

the Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault soundtrack is one of the best imo. Michael Giacchino is a master composer.

Other honorable mentions:
FF VI, VII, and VIII
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Super Metroid, Metroid Prime
Quake (NIN / trent Reznor)
Medieval II: total War
HOMM III

This has been one of my favorites recently:
youtube.com/watch?v=6hH_3Q87Z40

Symphony of the night really has great music. very baroque inspired.

...

What is Quake

>what is Civilization

A game that uses music from pre-existing composers.

Grant Kirkhope is an excellent composer. His work on Kingdom of Amalur and Grabbed by the Ghoulies are my favorite ones.

youtube.com/watch?v=3xsh9JaiBvw

youtube.com/watch?v=-zA1jRmAYfU

Op is right when he says that The Elder Scrolls has good music, but to be honest, the most memorable songs in all video games is the theme for GTA IV. Soviet Connection, I think it's called. It's very good.

why is morrowind the only elder scrolls with an interesting setting?
what went right

Age of Wonders OST

youtube.com/watch?v=SR7odrD_Bfg

no one's mentioned guild wars lol

>elder scrolls soundtracks
>good
choose one
winrar

also
youtube.com/watch?v=QFvt2cNSOaM

Actually,

BABA YETU BIN BOO EE YA

Nier has an incredible soundtrack.
youtube.com/watch?v=H4aRbiTMBUE

Plenty of jrpg's have incredible soundtracks in fact, for example;
>persona 3
youtube.com/watch?v=8JulmXSbWF0
>chrono trigger
youtube.com/watch?v=5ejTIgXexyg

Half life 2 has a great soundtrack as well
youtube.com/watch?v=rvyswm1UMko

plenty of games have great soundtracks, and just like in movies, the two paired together can mean so much more than just a song, or just a game

both portals, l.a. noire, bioshock, wolfenstein: the new order

>Tekken 5
>Tekken 5 dr
>Little big planet 1 & 2
>final fantasy X
>Silent hill 2
>legend of zelda: the one about the flute
>castlevania 1

This.

>tfw my mom digs the Witcher 3 score

She usually hates most music

It's true that the Elder Scrolls series has amazing soundtracks, but it sure as hell ain't the only games with good soundtrack.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura
Spyro the Dragon trilogy
Mass Effect trilogy
Pillars of Eternity
Heavy Rain
L.A Noir
Heavy Rain
Red Dead Redemption
These are just the one I can pick out from the top of my head.

Dragon ball Z Legacy of Goku series

A lot of Pokemon

Transformers Autobots and Decepticons for DS

Hotline Miami

Arguably Minecraft

I liked Terraria's OST

Jet Set Radio of course

>all these bullshit orchestra OST

i bet that you faggots enjoy hans zimmer scores unironically
anyway, superior ost coming through: youtube.com/watch?v=ljyRWgdCsl8

metroid prime has the best game ost

you cant prove me wrong

Anything by Jeremy Soule and the Marty O'Donnell/Michael Salvatori team is god tier
There's many others.

also film is like 4x older than games what is wrong with you

Super Metroid OST> Metroid Prime OST

>Hates based Morrowind
>Likes weebshit

Die

Halo's are god tier. Especially ODST

Skyrim's music was pretty meh-tier. The only memorable song was the remade Morrowind theme.

isn't it straight up Polish folk music?

anyone remember phantasy star iv on sega genesis(or megadrive for us yuropeans)?
youtube.com/watch?v=IvszxdJNvtE

Fucking awesome music in that game.

In general sega genesis has the best damn sounds of any console

shit game

Uncharted 2

seconding this, orchestra-based soundtracks are lifeless. literally stuck in time.

None of these have good soundtracks. III and IV are irrelevant, and V is a dead meme that Bethesda wants to kick around for money.

Skyrim has a competent soundtrack, but goddamn, that battle music gets so grating after a while.
Xenoblade has a very good, varied soundtrack.

back to bed Todd

Fuck off back to Sup Forums

I like all the tryhards that try to differentiate themselves from their generation by hating on video games. It's even better when the reason they hate them is their retarded politics.

youtube.com/watch?v=gm17vgmh854

But user I like Videogames

I just don't like Sup Forums or people who shit up other boards with epicc videogame posts

they're all plebs that only play triple-a games

why does no one ever mention this one?
the whole thing is actually an album in form of game

>He dislikes the rayman 3 soundtrack

>SOTC
>Can't think of a single great theme.

m8 i'd shank ya if ya said that to my face

i remember the crucible scene in mass effect 3 had that wonderful clint mansell track and the stark quiet atmosphere and it all really stood out, making the betrayal by the story a little more bearable.
nier is goat too.

Bethesda cared back then.

The Mass Effect games had fucking great scores throughout

>>SOTC
>Can't think of a single great theme.
I would call you a fag, but.. that's not even faggotry..

that's blasphemy.
this.

...

MoH:AA had a GOAT soundtrack

This one was also really good (though in a different way)

Also, regardless of how you feel about the game itself, Undertale's soundtrack was pretty awesome.

the best part about this game
youtube.com/watch?v=XDEp0AzdDMQ
youtube.com/watch?v=eh7bneLa2ek
youtube.com/watch?v=T8oxcS_giQA
youtube.com/watch?v=fEwF3zp32SE
youtube.com/watch?v=Pg6mnwW4W-M
youtube.com/watch?v=rmMwH_Th5DE

I enjoy Mount & Blade's soundtrack more than the game itself

youtube.com/watch?v=TgYSIIWYAV8&list=LLaIiAW_Aj1S9hcrUmCCO4yQ&index=3

Drakengard series including Nier
No More Heroes 1 & 2

This guy's correct as well

Nier is fucking amazing. Like the gameplay is so fucking garbage but everything else is good enough to make up for it. Love that game.

>tfw wandering around the town trying to save your daughter while the sun sets and this song plays
youtube.com/watch?v=V1CjxQXXA7o

And the fucking intro
>First thing you see is a ruined city covered in snow
>"Summer 2049"
youtube.com/watch?v=p2lwFiIaMAE

Ummmm Bioshock has some good music, especially this. The part of the game that it is featured is one of the best moments in the whole thing
youtube.com/watch?v=nlu2z2gkhhI

...

>"UUUH YEAH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUHDUH DUH DUH DUH BABY BABY DUH DUHDUH DUH DUHDUHDUH DUH"
>Incredible soundtrack

this

youtube.com/watch?v=Heoxt4us3uQ

But.. But so many Zelda and Mario soundtracks.
Also, Halo 3 ODST had some good tunes, Journey, Entwined, EGTTR, Portal, Silent Hill 1/2/3, MGRR, etc.

nah but good pick tho

you just have bad tastes then, hell the music in oblivion and skyrim isnt even that great.

>only video games that have symphaggot scores are good

all of the tracks in all of those suck
i dont understand how threads about video game music get so far without a mention of any nintendo soundtracks. kondo and totaka are geniuses.

Too bad the game was a 4/10 at best

Hi

>not enjoying Mountain Blade

you are a giant faggot

Pic related and Rayman 2 ost are GOAT
youtube.com/watch?v=gSGk1bQ9rcU&t=1196s

>he can't into chiptune
also pic related

>Mostly midi-shit.
all of them from the snes onward used custom samplesets you mong

>only three good game soundtracks

Pretty sure Akira Yamaoka worked on like 7 or 8 Silent Hill games, and that's just one franchise.

Darren Korb is the man.
youtube.com/watch?v=6-aexLJKwME

>Mountain Blade

literally every paradox game

Fuck. Best song on the soundtrack.
Outside of Bastion and Transistor, does he do anything else? Solo stuff?

No ;_;

He never said he does not enjoy medieval-village-killing-simulator, though.

*villager
