Best thing about XXX was how Danny switched up the pitch of his voice during tracks. He doesn't do that enough anymore. Still a pretty good track, and will probably get better after more listens

This is not techno, perhaps you could call it proto-techno or that it would go on to influence it - but it itself is not techno as the rhythm patterns don't match up.
Besides, there is difference between the techno that came out of Europe and Detroit techno.

ofcourse when it rain isn't exact detroit techno which pops up first when you google the term, but you can't deny you can hear the influence with the 4 bar kick pattern and atmosphere, most people expected heavy 808s with trill hi hats to come but this came out and it suits Danny pretty fucking good. showing his roots and his early influences aswell

It's not like he's rapping over a straight techno beat but the hook is very reminiscent of the detroit techno scene plus he literally namedrops cajmere, one of the pioneers of the chicago house (and as a result the detroit techno) scene
