Is his music emblematic of the 2010s?

Is his music emblematic of the 2010s?

I can't think of any other artist who has so perfectly captured the essence of the culture of modern Western civilization in musical form. I guess what I'm asking is: is he the voice of our generation?

>starbucks

yeah he's really got his finger on the pulse

can he try to get a bigger fan base? like make an attempt to subtley sell out or something, it's just getting sad

Yes and no. Yes because like you said he perfectly captures this moment in time. No because culture is too microcosmical now for any generation to have a single voice.

he should go full post-irony and sell his music to commercials

I cant wait to see what he critiques next. 7-11?

What is some *essential* ferraro I really don't get the hype from what I've heard

implying anyone would pay for this meandering horseshit

Far Side Virtual
Night Dolls with Hairspray
Condo Pets
KFC City
iAsia
Live at Primavera Sound 2012

iAsia is fucking dope

good choice

needs NYC, HELL 3:00AM

yeah nothing but shitty incoherent albums. just like this generation

i wouldn't listen to this guy seeing as ferraro's latest works are some of his weakest yet. i won't deny that they're at times conceptually masterful, but they're completely brought down by extremely weak execution. you'd be better off sticking to someone like dean blunt/babyfather who (imo) is a better candidate for the voice of our generation.

if you're getting into ferraro, stick to his lo-fi era which is definitely his prime as an artist. especially check out albums like Clear, Marble Surf, Last American Hero, and On Air to really see how he's influenced what was to come this decade.

I can see not liking his recent r&b stuff but human story 3 is absolutely sublime. easily surpassed fsv in my mind

>human story 3 is absolutely sublime
>lofty and grandiose
I hated it but I won't disagree with this.

>emblematic

Are you legitimately retarded?

Fancy booklearnin' words are for libruls

>ferraro
>nu-male
lmao you couldn't be more wrong

he's a nu-nigger

nu-whatever isn't a new word for "left from center", autismo

literally who

he's a faggot who hasn't released anything good since Live at Primavera Sound 2012

which makes him a nu-male, solid logic bro

>nigger
>mixed
>acts whiter even than will toledo

he literally just dropped AOTY

this fucking post

you know you're gonna have to have at least a ten deep classical list to make this claim right?

(not true by the way)

uh yeah it literally is

(not true by the way)

i listened to all 100 CDs of Deutsche Grammophon's The History of Classical Music. does that makes my claim legit?

99% of our generation has no idea who this person is. The voice of our generation is Kim Kardashian. You are from a shit generation. Accept it.

Is there actually anything impressive about it sonically this go around or

people lately misusue "voice of our generation" to mean who most accurately somes up the state of our lives and who is most in tap with our collective psyche. maybe that is kim kardashian by those standards still but personally i'd relate more to James.

im confused is Live at Primavera the title or was that his set at that festival?

so he's not the voice of our generation then. he's just your role model faggot

YEAH

S I M C I T Y

it's more the concept and totally trippy vocal cuts.
All the songs are worth listening.

I don't get it

That was his set at the festival.
The first part of his set was released as 'Earth Jump' youtube.com/watch?v=CsRPF4LhgPA

Does anyone have any information on the clicking sound on Live at Primavera 2012? Someone likened it to Chinese water torture, but I'm not sure whether the clicks actually mean something.

nah, but someone should compare him to arca, opn, and james blunt.

This reminds me a lot of Sushi.

>it's more the concept
Yeah, no thanks.

I don't either.

Is this thread satire? Bait? Are the posters ITT over the age of 18?

This is my major issue with Ferraro's stuff. His concepts are often interesting and bizarre, but the music that accompanies it is usually hard to listen to.

>perfectly captured the essence of the culture of modern Western civilization in musical form
Yeah, by listing a bunch of common 21st century words.

>GPS, LATTE, TECHNOLOGY, INTERNET
>WOW WHAT A VISIONARY

You guys treat this guy like a virtuoso simply because he can make Sims music while layering technology and pop culture references over it.

I liked FSV but HS3 is just a watered-down repeat.

>sims music

Damn, you got me.

>you

>underage newfag detected
You seem to have accidentally used greentext when you meant to type (You)

Its plunderphonics. So that might help

anyone have a link to that mega archive with all his material and/or a link to his new album?

Here are some other links to Ferraro releases, many dead ones though. There was another mega archive but it has been taken down.
The archive that was linked before mostly contains unreleased stuff.

sebaldsfolly.blogspot.com

here have a lot of his and spencer clark's works

how did james ferraro even get popular

...

listen to his stuff under the name Nirvana

hi marcel

by inventing 50% of the music produced today probably

You can't be serious nigga

He's so terribly mediocre. All his albums are bandcamp-tier and unlistenable, like I can't listen to any of his albums because they're so lame.
