The lyrics and vocal delivery on that album are incredible. So much variety in the instrumentation, too.

Chairs Missing is better

"no"

What this post said.

Pink Flag > Chairs Missing > 154

All 9+/10 albums tho

this

This is the superior Post Punk record.

that's not this heat

Recommend me an album to get started.
t. pleb

Joy Division
Gang of Four

Sorry, but Chairs Missing is full of filler. 154 has absolutely no filler.

Thanks mate.
Picture unrelated.

Check out The Fall. Start with either their debut or Hex Enduction Hour. They put out many classic post punk records throughout the 80s.

ignore Start with talking heads remain in light, then Marquee Moon (those are not really post-punk, but you have to start there).

Then go with
Pink Flag,
Colossal Youth
Magazine - Real life
THEN
154
THEN
joy division

This was the stalest album I ever listened too.

this right here mate

Yup, and Metal Box.

Anyone into Neue Deutsche Welle?

I'm nearly half-way through. Once in a Lifetime feels like my favourite so far.

the last 3 tracks are more "post-punkish" tho'.

that said, fuck everything, if you didn't know the album enjoy a beutiful record

how is remain in light and marquee moon not post punk

are you serious dude?

no i just wasted my time asking a question i already know the answer to

yes i'm serious. i mean obviously neither are traditionally post punk (remain in light is more new wave and marquee moon is more punk) but they both definitely contain heavy post punk ideas. i would classify marquee moon as more post punk than punk

I'm actually enjoying it a lot. Seen and Not Seen is another favourite.

I feel like I might relisten to this album as this music feels rather unfamiliar and I need some time to grow into something new. Novelty is nice though.

I'd say that marquee moon is proto-punk/proto-post-punk/art-punk. It's still way too catchy and rock-ish, and the vocals are too clean. (god tier album tho')

remain in light is new wave, there's no punk

proto-post-punk and art punk are good ones i agree with that

remain in light is weird, i'm not alone in saying it has elements of post punk (it's right on the wikipedia page). they took influence from world music, they used unconventional recording techniques, they kind of had a minimalist flair to them

well yeah, I guess you may be right, after all I suggested that album for these reasons

it's not traditional post punk but it's definitely not traditional new wave

amazing album

"yes"

Not bothering to quote

>thinking there's a grand difference between post-punk and new wave

Lmao
