That dipshit turned Slayer into AOR
what are you even talking about
Exactly about your pic
oh you're one of those "hell awaits was better" hipsters? why even bother hating ricky if you don't understand why?
I don't know how their first album since Meteora to be made WITHOUT Rick Rubin turned out to be their worst mixed, but they managed it.
californication
Reign in Blood was the only album by Slayer I've heard before. Listened to Hell Awaits just now. Sounds much better.
IMO the production of Reign in Blood kills its moment. You can't make music like Slayer so clean and glossy. It needs "dirt". Albini-style production would be awesome for it
wikipedia has a short good list

Love the album, wish they used a studio though.
anything by Archers of Loaf

you must be hearing reissue from after the loudness war unfolded. I agree though; Slayer's 00s recordings, despite being better than the 90s stuff, don't feel it because of the polish.
I'm a noob to it, does the reissue sound much worse?
What I heard on my rip of Reign in Blood: barely apparent bass, very-high pitched guitars with no lows, overall crispiness and thinness.
Right now listening to Hell Awaits. Of course the production has some rough edges, but it just feels so much more enjoyable to me. No cut out low/low-mids from guitars, feels much more natural for metal.
Show No Mercy is much better than both.
Absolutely garbage mastering and production for an otherwise good album
Rick Rubin should be tarred and feathered for this shit
This had so much potential...

Here is your (you)
This is either bait or you're just fucking stupid either way incorrect

The album wouldn't be amazing either way, but jesus christ the production ruins the songs with actual promise. The only thing that remains unscathed is the ambient sections.
Oh god I love this album so much but can't agree more..
Also pic fucking related I think Rick had a hand in making this extremely average
post the spectrogram
I ate tacos with their guitarist once. He was in town playing with Neko Case.
