is this legit
I LOOOOOOVVEEEE YOOOUUUUUUUUU
>he doesn't have every live performance
lmao
I just included the ones that stood out (released on their own, rare songs, performance without Jeremy on drums), otherwise the idea was to get as much of his work into one easily-acquired package. (which is still almost a gb)
yes
What player is this?
what format are the files in?
>hi
Not high enough to listen to that album.
ncmpcpp
Just mp3, the box set is all 320 except for one at v0, while the live shows and demos range from 128 to 320. It's supposed to be an introduction for people looking for his music and I decided that uploading what would probably be over 5gb of flac files would be prohibitive to new listeners. Please don't tell me that bitrate is too low on the lo-fi cassette tape recordings from someones garage in the 90s .
Actually I've been re-listening to some of the box set pieces and the recordings could be better. i'm going to pull it and swap them for some better files and put it back up as 2.1.
>no Cranberry Lifecycle
also the file is down
i was in the neutral milk hotel general thread yesterday, im glad you uploaded this. didnt think it would be so soon
bruh where'd it go?
how long?
Please read
Making final adjustments and then it will be uploaded within an hour or two. I am curious however, if the vinyl recordings are the reason the old Mangum Box managed to stay up for over 3 years. If the new one is removed I'll revert to 2.0.
File is uploading, estimating about 2 hours. Thank you Time Warner.
I'd love to add it, but I'm not Will Cullen Hart. However it it one of the things they are considering releasing, so if it ever drops we'll move to edition 2.2
kek jeff didnt get married till he was like 40 virgin much
do you have some rare jeffs?
I'm afraid my Jeffs are quite plain. Anyone have that one comic of Jeff eating a falafel?
Bit over halfway, posting mostly so I won't have to open a new thread.
does anybody have this pic in hi resolution? i saw it being posted once
...
>that filename
kek
here's one of my favorite reaction pictures
>you will never get to touch Jeff Mangum's leg during a show, causing him to recoil in disgust and storm off the stage
Why even live?
thats it i'm killing myself
what made jeff insane?
have you read the p4k interview where he talks about his friend being molested constantly by her father?
he also mentions hallucinations and stuff in it
1/2
2/2
>Jeff Mohn-gyoom
Even in his demos and live recordings, half of the time he's saying that he's sick or having a breakdown. Poor dude, really seems to love the people who come to his concerts with the constant invitations to sing along. Hope the second half of his life is easier.
>45 years old and the beard just makes him look legitimately ancient
i hope we see some of that music they say he still writes and records someday, hopefully not post-humously
>a NMH thread with quality content
Hot damn, gonna download all this tonight
What I can't figure out why he is so insecure about his pre-NMH work. Even some of his later demos have amazing songs that would be the highlight of some bandcamp, summer after the senior year of high school indie band's works.
same. i dig beauty and invent yourself a shortcake a lot.
Good news, Worms in the Wind is on the Live From San Fransico recording, forgot about that song and was happy to hear it.
>t-minus 3 minutes
>and the worms in the wind are beginning to blow
>baby brother gives in and we watch as he goes
yes, one of my faves

you are a god among men user!
Actually, I found a typo. Gotta pull it.
>:(
nice, have some rare jeffs
;^)
>mfw cant open the files because unrecognized format
7-zip.org
Its literally a megabyte man
thank you!!!
have a rare jeff
No problem, enjoy the gigabyte of Jeff's voice
>rare jeff
have a rare jeff
where does one find rare jeffs such as this?
they're out there
Also, please provide suggestions for improving or adding to the Box for later editions.
im sorry but can you please explain how to use this
Install it, be sure you've moved the zip to where ever you want the music, right click on the file and click "extract here"
gee im dumb, thanks
No problem. I've already found a few things that i missed and need to fix already, so you're certainly not alone.
are these rare?
looks like mostly uncommons, but there may be a few rares in there
>Heroine
not even the most glaring problem, I somehow managed to stick a copy of everything is at the end of one of the live performances
mistakes and typos aside, this is great, man.sincerely
Thanks, I've been wanting to update my old file to give back for all the music you guys have introduced me to over the years. Guided by Voices, mass of the fermenting dregs, Tocotronic, even Memer Blood and Neutral Milk Hotel itself. Never had friends so I never got introduced to anything until I found this place.
just got done downloading and unzipping the files, thank you so much man.
and yeah, same here. its really opened my horizons to new music since being here, which is something thats kind of underappreciated behind the memes and the shitposting.
they're all here
>@8kbps
isnt this really bad? whats the point?
It's an interesting way of listening to a familiar piece of music that could fit on 2 floppy disks. Mostly it's there for novelty and the fact that it actually sounds pretty decent despite the entire albun being less than three megabytes. It's just entertaining.
There's a radio interview with mangum which isn't too bad iirc, definitely on youtube. Maybe stick some rare Jeff photos in there if you want. Seriously though you're the unsung hero of Sup Forums as far as I'm concerned.
If it's the xfm interview from london, a few of those songs are in the miscellaneous album. I'll look into putting the whole thing in and maybe some extras like photos and the 33 1/3 book.
Cool I'd certainly be down to read the book if that got added. its cool to see people on Sup Forums who can talk about NMH without shitposting, I just wish we'd get another EP or LP.
i want to download jeff's wfmu shows but i don't know how, there's a sound collage by him and the rest is just other people's music but still, he talks in some parts and the music is pretty great
This pic is my favorite
Is it just me who gets really weird mixing on this? Ferris wheel on fire mainly comes from my left ear which is a shame because its better quality than the youtube rip i'm using right now
it's just you
its doing it on every music player too, why jeff why
Is this a reference to something?
...
STOP
Is Ferris Wheel meant to be a little off then? I went back to my original rip and I'm noticing it being more to the left just less pronounced. Its making my right ear hurt.
holy shit it happens with all of my songs, the isolated chord progressions of NMH have just made me realize that either my sound card or my ears are fucked.
AND ON THE LAZY DAYS
This is a sign of deafness, see a doctor
Just wondering, which source did you use for the box set rips?
If it's the one from piratebay/public trackers then I have a better quality Ferris Wheel on Fire rip if you want it, one that doesn't sound like pure static when played through my phones speaker, probably would want to replace everything you can from that source since the rips are of dubious quality
mega.nz
Air stuck in your ear?
...
I just compared to my current NMH collection, ITAOTS and Avery Island are definitely CD rips, identical to the ones I already have which is good but the EPs are definitely from the lower quality torrent rips. seems to sound better than the Ferris Wheel On Fire mp3s you have, may want to replace them on the next version.
The unreleased stuff and bootlegs are awesome though, pretty much deleted the ones I already have to replace them with your versions.
