You're subjectively an idiot.

>don't listen exclusively to full albums
What about the genres not centered around the album format?

outdated

>this isn't music

>techno
>outdated
wew lad

llol

No. For one thing club culture is still very much a thing with dubplates and mixes and such

Classical isn't outdated.

>this is just noise
>how can you listen to this
>put playlist on shuffle skips every song until they get one they want to listen to and they dont even finish it before they skip ahead

12", EPs and certain singles are albums, they just aren't Studio Albums. Learn the difference: it will show you're not full of shit.

music is subjective when it comes to what you like and what you don't like. While things like creativity in comparison to its peers and technical talent are not subjective, the overall feeling the music elicits is subjective.

>music is subjective

This is one of the few true things about music.

Yeah and dj mixes are albums too

...

>likes Radiohead, think they are deep and think that OK Comouter is one of the best album of all time
>Spirit or MPP is their favorite AnCo album

Depending, yes. If it's a Mixed or P/Mixed collection of DJ mixes it's an Album (Compilation). If it's a single song no greater than 5 minutes it's a Single/ Track.

What about pirate radio sets lmao

wew

only people who want an excuse to listen to shit pleb music say music is subjective

That's an Unofficial Bootleg unless stated otherwise, the Orb are notorious for having multiple "albums" like them that are Unofficial Bootlegs but aren't an album as it's a regular set that consists of several songs. LMAO.

Nigga get off discogs sometime

This.

>is such an autist that they need to have a specific way to listen to music

>my taste of music is objectively patrician ... fapfapfapfap

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Album

"While an album may contain as many or as few tracks as required, the criteria for the UK Albums Chart is that a recording counts as an "album" if it either has more than four tracks or lasts more than 25 minutes.[8] Sometimes shorter albums are referred to as "mini-albums" or EPs."

I can't believe I waste my time on braindead teens like you.

>Music is subjecctive.
Music has objecctive and subjective components. For example:
>Bach's F Minor fugue was played incorrectly by my 6-year old niece
>Boards of Canada does not consider the principles of Klangfarbenmelodie
>Schoenberg's 3rd quartet adhered more strictly to the 12-tone method than his 4th.
Are objective statements, because there are clear standards by which we can measure whether or not they are true. However, they only extend to things we can say about the craft of music, not about our subjective experiences. Statements like:
>Swans makes me anxious
>9 Songs for a Mad King is very good
>Neutral Milk Hotel is boring depressing quatsch
Are subjective statements, since there are no clear standards by which to judge them.

>This is boring
Is a 100% reasonable complaint about some types of music.

>don't listen exclusively to full albums
imo if you really want to get into the meat of music, an hour and 20 minutes of music is too long to sit down and really hear and think about every section. Sometimes you have to take it apart and listen to it in small bits. Even if a work was intended to be long-form, it doesn't mean there wasn't special attention paid to certain small details and bits in the music that are worthy of special attention.

>put playlist on shuffle skips every song until they get one they want to listen to and they dont even finish it before they skip ahead

god i hate that and i keep seeing this a lot

this

>music is sort of subjective but without a level of objectivity and understanding about how humans generally respond to certain auditory stimuli, you get Merzbow

Fixed it.

This.

>I like dance music

Everyone above this post is a pleb.

>I don't listen to classical and jazz

>crafting a good, catchy pop song takes talent

Is there anyone on this board that can say without a shred of irony that music is really objective? What, can we measure a song's quality in the same way we can measure an object's mass?

music is objective. if you like it or not is subjective

lmao, i can't believe i share a board with you idiots

a lot the confusing in this thread is caused by poor articulation.
saying "music is objective/subjective" is like saying "eating is objective/subjective". the labels objective and subjective do not apply to "music", nor do they apply to "eating".
saying music quality is objective is incorrect. it is subjective.
saying a time signature, contained within a piece of music, is subjective is incorrect. it is objective.

>giving this much a fuck about what some dumbass says
yeesh...

wew

this

What the fuck aren't you understanding?

The music itself, and how it was crafted is entirely objective. The public reception, such as:
>This is bad
>Your lyrics suck
>This chord progression is mundane
IS SUBJECTIVE
