Its not even a competition

Jordan Dreyer of La Dispute.

whats with some songwriters and
>muh nursey rhymes

Brian Wilson was heavily into them too

paul mccartney was too

I think its just because of their links with poetry and poetry's links with music

stuff like "London bridge is falling down"
is all just playing around with different stresses and meter which is a lot like how music is composed

nick drake.

someone tell me why barrett was good.

i cant stand the sound of pipers
maybe im expecting floyd to be animals and just that? but man pipers at the gates of dawn does NOT appeal to me.

Idk if he counts because only about half of his stuff is singer/songwriter, but his singer/songwriter stuff is GOAT.

He wasn't. A literal meme

This man on the other hand...

You first OP

Barrett is a good composer instrumentally and can have some good moments lyrically, but imo Piper is a good 7/10 at best due to stuff like The Gnome and Bike dragging it down, so I don't blame you for it not clicking with you.

thats fair. not every musician is for everyone

I personally just find it really catchy

>The Gnome and Bike dragging it down
Literally my two favorites song off Piper

Innocence

I'm sorry you can't see that

How do you find those the best over stuff like Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam or Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk?

>I haven't listened to Madcap Laughs or Barrett but I think I can have a say on his quality as a songwriter

Pink Floyd and their fans fucking suck

Roger Miller

>I'm gonna assume they haven't listened to madcap or Barrett

>They have different opinions than me so I'm gonna insult an entire fanbase

Not even a big Floyd fan anymore desu senpai

>It's a song about a man who steals women's clothing
>It's a song that is upbeat and childish and ends with 1 minute straight of terrible clock noises

Pink Floyd was better when Syd left. The hit songs with Syd were few and far between in my opinion.

>implying Arnold Layne isn't a great song
>taking "bike" that seriously

You cannot tell me that Barrett's voice does not give you shattering orgasms every 13 seconds or less

Paul Simon

Joan Armatrading

That's not Barrett you idiot, that's my one and only love, Richard Left

Good old Rhymin' Simon's up there with the best.
