why are 'real punk' fans the most obnoxious people ever?
Why are 'real punk' fans the most obnoxious people ever?
good web comic
no u
fucking Kevin. this chart always triggers me
All image-based music scenes and genres are trash with a few notable exceptions
>Sex Pistols, Green Day, Bad Religion, and the Clash are more punk than the Stooges and the Velvet Underground
Remember when Merzbow was in the comic for like two weeks and all the jokes were about him
Fucking Kevin
how can one person be such a sperg?
>I've probably never heard of him
This guy seems like a total sperg, but that was actually kinda funny.
>"The music is the least important aspect of punk rock"
>Sites The Sex Pistols as the most "punk rawk" band ever
I feel hurt on an emotional level that bad religion is more Punk then the Stooges, and since not on the chart, Crass
Reminder Kevin is literally 5'1
Reminder Kevin is literally danny devito
>The Velvet Underground is more punk than the Sex Pistols and The Clash
Kevin is a faggot but this is one time where he's kinda funny
The Velvet Underground and the Monks are the most punk bands of all time. Don't care if they're classified as proto punk.
attitude and method of work>clothing style or country of origin
Bad Religion are a good punk band. I'm more upset about Green Day being used as the median.
...
...
I won't deny that theyre alright, but they're not that quality. Same with Green Day, even though I admittedly like them mote
>be real punk fan
>wear spikes, have a stupid ass neon shit coloured hair
>black leather works with black leather
>hang around with jobless faggots
>cant handle listening to shit music coz of ur shit taste so devour beer until you accept every autistic anarchy band in the world
>think having a seizure in the front row is dancing
>go home thinking about suicide and embarrassing yourself even more
>sleep a night in jail coz its your home now
>Kevin
>not Kay
>this list implies that the doors are more punk than the clash
They are if punk = authenticity
Daniel Johnston's more punk than the Clash. The Clash are a soulless pop band masquerading behind a leftist facade
I've always thought the punk fanbase was the worst out there. They they the pedastal they sit on his higher than everyone else's and they treat everyone else like total, complete shit. It would be understandable if the music was at least interesting, but after 10 years of two minute three chord songs, the music is incredibly boring and stale.
The philosophy behind the scene irritates me as well. They basically say 'Fuck you!' to the establishment and loathe every 'conformist' around. and yet I've never seen a more corporate manufactured aesthetic, visually and sonically, in my life, and damn near every one of them fits into it.
The music isn't as bad as the fanbase, but the fanbase ruins the scene
>people caring about what bands are more "punk" than other bands
wew lads
Discussions on what artists are more punk than others are usually pointless because apparently everyone has very different views on what Punk means.
What's your definition of Punk, senpaitachi in the thread?
>implying punk fans aren't terrible all around
Coming from someone who actively listens to punk from every era, even the cringey pop-punk shit, i can tell you first hand that there are no "good" punk fans
nah
>someone who actively listens to punk from every era
Tell me how that doesn't make you a punk fan.
arent those called vegans?
Anarchist are fucking scum
Only good 'punks' are redskins
crusties are obnoxious but old school punks are cool
at least they aren't crustpunks
I never said that i was a good music fan. Im 100% sure that im part of the problem because i give my money to bands that fuel the "real punk rawk!" fire
agreeing trips
CRUSTRIPS
being a punk fan almost inherently means you identify yourself as a special snowflake in some way. I like punk too
>real punk
>not pic related
I used to love punk like a year ago and now it's kinda starting to just sound like noise to me. It's pretty depressing
Post-punks, if those are such a thing, are pretty great desu.
Vastly superior to punk rock. Proto-punk is also better than punk, punk was good as a short-lived social phenomenon that produced some good bands but now it's kinda lame.
how though
triggers every time
ARE THERE PICS YET I NEED THEM
similiar discussion: SLC punk 2???
>american """"""""""""""""""""""""punk""""""""""""""""""""""""
>get really into punk in hs
>wanna play in some kind of punkish band
>find out the only people that play in these bands are socially conscious hipsters
:(
punk has always been socially conscious genre you dweeb.
>green day more punk than the stooges
>go to a "guitar class" type thing at school
>teacher offers help on guitar, asks the class what type of shit they want to learn on it
>this one douchebag guy raises his hand
>"I want to learn how to play punk rock"

You seem to know a lot about this m'gentleman.
what's bridget?
i know enough to say that what he's wearing is no fedora :^)
I honestly can't get into post-punk. Not sure what people like about it so much.
post punk: actual music
punk rock: ahhhh world doesn't understand me, fuck off the american president, etc.
>actual music
fuck off
>It can really tie together a good meme-tshirt and some khaki's
if this isn't fake this dude is fucked
but post-punk is the embodiment of
>ahhh world doesn't understand me
This guy is a loser but the friendzone is a real thing and there's nothing wrong with this answer.
Fuck off SJW cuck.
You're gonna hear a whole lot more of "fuck off the american president, etc." if your idol wins the election, friendo.
>the friendzone is a real thing
No, you just take your friends' compliments way too seriously and put crazy ideas into your head.
>the friendzone is a real thing and there's nothing wrong with this answer.
you have no excuse not to be class conscious except if you're lumpenprole
Fuckin this
>Green Day
>higher on the list than The Stooges
Oh come on what the fuck is this
...
Real fans of any genre are shit.
>sex pistols at the top
Stopped reading there tbqhwy
This
All trips are trash with no notable exceptions
>Sex Pistols
>The most punk
>punk is all about image
>bassist couldn't even play bass but fit punk image
>Stooges and Rancid lower than...Green....day
>OP confirmed middleschooler.
The Stooges > The Clash > Ramones > blink-182 > Sex Pistols > Bad Religion > Black Flag > Rancid > Green Day
but that's just quality
to say that the Sex Pistols are the most punk ever just shows this person doesn't know much about punk, because there were other bands that took the stereotype much further, like The Exploited and Chaos UK, both of which were awful bands, but still more stereotypically punk.
I like The Clash, but you can't call anything after the first album punk. You can call it a huge improvement, but it isn't punk.
For that era of punk, I find it hard to define punk as a sound and not a movement because it was so open. For example, post-punk was a retrospective term that was created later, so the term punk was being applied to everything from the Pop Group to DNA to Blondie to Television to Talking Heads. Sure, London Calling and Combat Rock certainly sound more new wave than punk, but I'd be uncomfortable saying they stopped being a punk band
Punk is far to narrow to describe either their sound or attitude after the first album and just really doesn't do justice to the direction they took. I'd call them humanist or world music.
>blink-182 ahead of sex pistols, black flag and bad religion
you're just as bad as OP tbqh
i'm an european leftist.
>Clash above Ramones
>Blink182 above Sex Pistols and Black Flag
Are you gay or something?
Nope. The Sex Pistols had one real album, and 2/3s of it is terrible. Public Image Ltd. is an incredible band, but the Sex Pistols were pretty shit.
Black Flag was an amazing band when Keith Morris was their vocalist, but with Rollins they became wretchedly hit and miss. A lot of their stuff sounds stupid and weak, with occasional stand outs like the joke songs on Damaged, or the sludge stuff on My War.
Bad Religion is monotonous. Again, some great tracks, but a lot of mediocrity.
blink-182 were a fantastic pop punk band and fit perfectly well alongside a lot of other punk bands of their era like Screeching Weasel, The Get Up Kids, and The Promise Ring. IDGAF, they were fun, and while their songs were juvenile and had the humor of an 8th grader, they were well written.
>sex pistols had one album, 2/3 is terrible
Bad taste.
So, are you just a 30 year old feeling some blink 182 nostalgia or are you 12 years old?
I love the Ramones, but the Ramones couldn't touch the Clash at the height of their powers.
I don't happen to be gay, but it's not very punk of you to care. I'm sure Pansy Division, Black Fag, and Limp Wrist are more punk than you
>thinks the Sex Pistols were shit
>loves Blink-182
Never Mind the Bollocks is overrated but it's better than everything Blink-182 made.
I'm 27. Maybe nostalgia plays a part in it, but Neighborhoods and their s/t, which I didn't discover until years after its release, are both really solid albums, albeit more alt-pop than punk. Dude Ranch is still one of the strongest entries in goofy 90s pop punk, in the underground or mainstream.
How can you actually like Liar and Problems? They were far inferior to contemporaries like The Damned
kys
I hope this is making fun of faux elitists and not being serious. People who have such a shallow love for the music are rarely ever at shows.
There are definitely some people like that in the scene, but the scene overall is far from being that way.
Nah, post-punk went way too far up its own ass and became the exact same pretentious crap that punk was trying to be against. Pretentious Post-punk and the move towards punk being image based fucked the scene up hard.
This shit's pretty true. Remember that outside The Ramones/Sex Pistols/Morris era Black Flag and all their eventual imitators, the other guys in the scene were still punk and doing artsy shit without being too pretentious like Richard Hell, Television (there's a reason they are more often called art punk than post punk,) and Wire. Not only that, when Hardcore Punk became a legit thing, it was through a band that was as dub/reggae as they were hardcore punk (Bad Brains.) The Clash were definitely still punk they just sounded less like a typical punk band. Not to mention that not all punk was necessarily as directly influenced by 50s Rock n roll as the bands I mentioned so it's not always so clear cut about having only three chords.
>one of the strongest entries in goofy 90s pop punk
wew
Can we disregard everything this chucklefuck says now?
>I hope this is making fun of faux elitists and not being serious.
It's 3-chord dorks. It's 100% sincere.
you must be 18 to post here faggot
You're the pretentious one tbqh familia
