I recently listened to American Football and the pic related album by Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate) for the first time and liked them both a lot. What are some other good emo albums that Sup Forums recommends?

The Hotelier:
A newer band, and one of the leading figures in the emo revival movement. Some of the best lyrics in the genre. They have three albums out and my favorite is Home, Like Noplace Is There.

Sunny Day Real Estate:
Their only album really worth noting is Diary, but that album is so very important to the genre that I need to mention them. It's a great album too.

Tigers Jaw:
A bit more pop-punk influenced so I don't know if you like that, but I'm still going to mention them to give you more of an idea on the full spectrum of the emo genre. Check out their self titled album.

Mineral:
If I had to choose, this would be my favorite emo band. It's just two albums but it's all incredible. Their first one, The Power of Failing, has a more raw sound if you like that. The second one, Endserenading, is a bit less intense, but just as amazing. The lyrics are great as well.

And finally,
Hindsights:
Found this band by accident a while ago and instantly became a fan. They're really unknown, and they don't have a large discography but their material is absolutely amazing. Listen to their EP The Thoughts That Weigh Me Down and their full-length Cold Walls / Cloudy Eyes. Unfortunately they broke up in late 2015 ;_;

>tfw just caught their last tour ever and they closed with An Idea....
indescribable feels
Tell me, are the Get Up Kids emo
i agree that it's punk in spirit, but there are elements of post-hardcore for sure. it's melodic. the guitars are doing a lot more than power chords.
i find it hard to characterize any emotive punk as 'just punk.'
Thank you so much!
im jelly user. bet it was bittersweet
