>Experimental, Various Genres

We start off my new label, Jacob And Friends, with the release of Eric Taxxon's Sky Simplified.
Will be accepting submissions for the label.

>New Release

>Eric Taxxon
>Sky Simplified
>Santa Cruz, Ambient, Ambient Pop, Drone, Vaporwave.

Description:
We often view the sky as something of an art piece in itself. Something reflective, as we wonder and gaze into its openness, while evolving with its ever changing shapes and colors. Eric Taxxon attempts to embody such in his new album, Sky Simplified. With droning synths and ambient melodies, Eric tackles how he holds viewership of the sky with his gentle and yet intricate production.

Now available for stream and download!

Support, scrobble, or review on RYM. Any feedback of any kind would be greatly appreciated. And give Eric some love. Thank You. :)

Also for anyone living in Houston, I will be performing at a showcase at Fitzgerald's on July 1st. If you have an interest in going, contact me for tickets.

Hey sports fans! I can't make it to the dumpster dive this weekend, I'll be at the short dad's bowling pageant. Lol have you seen the new season of Check it Out? Its high quality writing, mixed with some oddball skits here and there that are adding a serious element of eerie overtones to this show, especially with the clam guy.

oh shit i forgot the recs

Sky simplified is great
Going to listen to more stuff on the label later

still loving this

i don't know if it's intented this way but the mix could be better. decent otherwise

Great vibes! might get the physical release when it comes out

Good instrumentals and a nice voice

Wow really loving this.
Love the instrumentals a lot, love the vocals and the mix too. This is great and kind of nostalgic

Good stuff. Never gets boring and has some pretty creative parts

Thank you! Also, your stuff is still really nice to listen to
I like everything about it. The vocals, the comfy and beautiful vibe, the lyrics and the insrumentals. Keep it up

dude this is fuckiN EPIC

These are really solid beats dude, great coherency and for hip hop these melodies are top shelf.

>i don't know if it's intented this way but the mix could be better. decent otherwise

I agree, do you know any good resources for mixing? I'm clueless really.

Your mom has patrician taste
Nice time signatures dude, what are you playing in on the first track?

Someone told me the white noise in the first track is annoying. Is it really? Doesn't sound that bad to me

boy this shit lit af desu

I don't even know. My mix isn't that bad anymore i guess and all i could say so you won't get frustrated is just make more music, really.

It sounds kinda annoying but just keep it up and it will sound better with time.
There is some stuff through youtube vids and people I learned though that heleped a lot like using sidechain and putting not too many effects on everything and make high sounding stuff like hi-hats or high synths usually a bit quiter, bassy stuff a bit louder.
Also you don't have to make everything loud and sound good on it's own. Try to keep some parts (where the focus isn't on) quiet. like pads and stuff

The problem is that it all depends on what you want it to sound like and how your work flow is and stuff so just keep making music and it will get better slowly

>i guess and all i could say so you won't get frustrated is just make more music, really.
I agree with the second bit, but I thrive on criticism and sometimes outright insults. Its heart breaking for a moment cause I get very passionate about these things but it acts as a kick in the butt.

Wish I had a teacher like from Whiplash!

Space Is Not as Big as Time

vastno.bandcamp.com

Been listening to your album for the last two days. Insomniacs of 1985 makes me feel stuff.

This is pretty epic stuff. Very modern sounding and original IMO. Production is top notch. Everything flows really nicely, I could listen to it for hours.

Nice melodies and arrangement. I like the simplicity of the songs. I I think your music would shine more with a sharper, pro-sounding mix; but I don't know... just do your thing, man.

This is a good example of a raw sounding album that works really well. Very simple and beautiful. Love the voices in Black Black Moon. The album covers are great, too. This is my favorite so far ITT.

This is really interesting. I love the contrast between the raw sound and not-very-serious attitude, with the sophisticated harmonies and complex sampling. I'd work on the melodies and structure a bit more.

Cool. This reminded me at times of the PrismCorp Virtual Enterprises albums, which is great cause I love them.

Really-really nice. It gave me a French House vibe, but very raw and minimal. The title track is great.

Not particularly original, but I actually like it a lot. It's very emotional and the melodies are very nice.

Masterpiece.

I liked Cantherelus, but I feel like you use a lot of badly recorded sounds and just but a lot of reverb on them. The vibe is nice and dark, but the sound could improve.

Nicely controlled lo-fi. Very surprising moments (sonic-wise). Loved the bridge.

This is nice but very unsurprising. Surprise us. Do something crazy. Keep it up.

I approve this music. Someone has to do it, and you're doing it really well. Great sound, feels like a live show (in a good way).

Very tight band. The drums are great.

I'm feeling this. It's got soul.

-Continued-

The Y in the artwork is cut. Is it on purpose? It's a very nice cover. I like the explosion in Origami Swan. Great dynamics.

The melody in Luma is BEAUTIFUL. The arrangements are great. I'll be replaying this for a while.

Wow. Your low end is great. It evokes weird colors in my brain.

Excellent, just listened to the whole album. Your work reminds me of two of my favorite postrock releases by 'Talk Talk' and 'Slowdive'. Did you record this in a studio? It sounds really well mixed. Keep on making more stuff. Cozy music to fall asleep to . Genuinely one of my favorite things ive heard on bandcamp threads so far

Very refreshing to hear something as ''avante garde'' as your music here. Your sound is very unique and reminds me a little of R. Stevie Moore. Surprisingly these tracks are infectiously catchy as well, and so weird that they contain a timeless quality. There definitely is some insanity here (pretty humorous at times). Overall Id highly recommend your work. (think you may enjoy my music as well!) 10/10, I cant wait to dive into your older albums...

Prior Recs that Id encourage people to check out if they havent gotten around to them yet.

Just released by pet project from my main band. It's a little rough around the edges as it was recorded in three days. I the intro especially is rough so give it a chance before you dismiss it, but if you hate it tell me.

Well the vocal version is a little more on the strange side of things but I was afraid people might find it too odd.

What a strange and cute single. I like the time signature change and the quality is very good. Would be interested in hearing a full length or even an EP of this kind of stuff at least.

still pretty new to music production and i don't actually play any instruments or have any real training, but i enjoy it. i do record and mix small demo stuff for all my friends so i started fucking with some throw-away stuff and am fairly happy with how it turned out. only have a short ep-thing out right now but i'm working on a full album and would definitely appreciate some feedback going into that project since it will be more of the same soundscape/ambient kinda stuff with light instrumentation and sampling.

I did as you said and set my expectations real low, was pleasantly surprised. The concept behind this album (e.g. trying to not think of a girl by thinking of long-lost childhood friends) adds so much emotion to the music. Much, much better than anything else in your discography. It sounds a lot cozier, specifically the synths' sounds.

I'm just gonna go ahead and rec this yet again for the billionth time, heed my words people, listen to Track 6, listen to the other tracks, at least check it out, okay

I gotta rec this again. Worthy of multiple close listens. Masterful melody. An extremely promising debut single, give it a listen folks

This is good too, crazed Ty Segall garage rock (Yet again, I'll say that the vocals are mixed too low; that's one way you could improve with your next album)

Looks like there's a lot of stuff in this thread that I haven't listened to, I'll be back with more
recs and feedback later. In the meantime, here's some other good stuff that isn't in this thread (I think)

I think i checked your stuff yesterday and i'm listening to it again and liked it a lot. nice singing and the instrumentals are right up my alley. I think the lyrics aren't that bad, i personally like stuff like this

Nice, thanks for the reply. I guess stuff like this is a matter of taste and e.g. people that are used to clean pop stuff may not like it very much

>This reminded me at times of the PrismCorp Virtual Enterprises albums, which is great cause I love them.
Haven't heard of them I'll look it up later. Kinda interested now. Glad you like it

Thanks for the rec

Thanks for the reply! (I'm ) I've listened to your little EP a few times now and decided to go ahead and download it because there's something very curious about it to me. Usually this style of music is not what I listen to. I'm thinking that I might post a more in-depth review in a later thread if I keep listening to it. (I'll be gone on a church mission thing for a week though, so my wi-fi access may be limited.) I don't know why this one clicked with me when Untitled didn't, maybe it's the nostalgia theme which I can definitely get into.

I can't judge my own music but i'm really glad that's how you feel about it.
"Untitled" was kinda a compilation of my music and "not about you" a bit of a themed thing with a clear intention (eventhough the titles may be a bit subjective for everyone)

I won't go anywhere so the in-depth review would be nice but it'd be fine if it won't work out that well so no worries

Have fun on your church mission thing!
