LenCartney
Paul McCartney both in the Beatles and solo was better than almost any popular musician in their prime.
harrison
ahahahahaha
goddamnit when will this meme end.
harrison and starr were the JV team of the beatles
this is kind of a pointless thread, but what the hell
No, Harrison was the JV team. Ringo was the freshman who got to hang out with them.
ahhhhhh
Any true Beatles fan knows that Macca was the genius of the band.
Paul during Beatles John post Beatles
This. Only normies think Lennon was better. The same type of people who say Hey Jude is their favorite Beatles song. Mccartney was the creative force of the band.
1. paul mccartney - longer prime/creative peak
2. john lennon (magical mystery/sgt pepper era) is on par with brian wilson in terms of creative peak, except it's like john saw the mental instability wilson was headed towards and john abandoned ship back to 12 bar blues so although mccartney never peaked as high as lennon/wilson, he did peak high enough not to lose his mind and did it for a longer/more consistent amount of time
well this is why bands are greater than the sum of parts.
macca yes was the core pop "songsmith"
however, harrison contributed a deal of eastern mysticism, which jived well with the psych era,
Ringo had a distinct rhythmic feel that melded the different members together
John brought a good deal of grit/rock&roll + an imaginarium of dr. parnassas type / surrealistic vibe
its all well and good. so combined you have the legacy they are
Lennon
the reason people wont say it's him is because of all the hippy shit he's associated with
>john lennon (magical mystery/sgt pepper era)
But both of those albums were McCartney's ideas. I would say Lennon peaked during the Rubber Soul/Revolver era.
Or maybe because McCartney is a better songwriter and a better instrumentalist. The only thing I can give Lennon is he was great at lyrics.
I like mcartney but his songs were not as good as Lennon's
>rubber soul lennon had the better songs
>revolver lennon had the better songs
>sgt pepper it was tied
>magical mystery tour lennon was better
>white album tied again
>let it be lennon was better
Only one I agree with is Rubber Soul.
Revolver - For No One
Sgt. Peppers - She's Leaving Home
MMT - The Fool On The Hill
white - Martha My Dear or Helter Skelter
Let it Be - The Long and Winding Road
While in the Beatles: John Lennon
Solo work: Paul McCartney
Pretty much on the money on all of them but McCartney is definitely not tied with Lennon on the White Album, not for a second.
You got it backwards m8
Paul McCartney.
But both were incredible songwriters, of course.
George Harrison is definitely not better than either, I feel the need to point that out to you contrarian retards.
Ringo is unconventional qt
nope
nope
Pleb: McCartney
Contrarian: Harrison
Patrician: Lennon
Ringo: Ringo
Consider the fact that all of the Beatles best songs were mostly Lennon compositions. (Happiness, Norwegian Wood, Rain, In My Life, Tomorrow Never Knows, SFF). Consider also that Lennon has the highest quality solo work (JL/Plastic Ono Band is the best solo Beatles record).
reverse pleb and patrician and we got ourselves a deal.
>Lennon has the highest quality solo work
This is the only part of your post I don't agree with. Solo John Lennon albums are vastly over-rated.
As a major Beatles fan who loves them all, Beatles/solo, I have to go with Lennon ultimately. As imaginative as they all were, he was the most boundary pushing, probably had the widest stylistic array, and was the catalyst for trying out many of the things they did for the first time. He showed interest in philosophy but didn't go full on religious based like Harrison, but he also had a strong knack for hooks like McCartney, yet rarely got as nauseatingly saccharine as Paul could get with nobody to rein it in. He was the best lyricist, had pop sensibility with rawness at the same time, experimented often with odd time signatures, studio trickery, fun stuff like that and he was the one who could really make you FEEL the most often. Paul McCartney was a more technically accomplished musician but Lennon was a jack of all trades.
Not to mention he started the band.
Venom McCartney > George > John > Dead Paul > Ringo
lennon McCartney is a sellout bitch
...
pic related
retarded or mexican. or both.
Lennon fans confirmed for best fans
I hate someone takes time to write a post and it can just be dismmised with a picture of a hat
>Martha My Dear
My African American companion
>picking any one of the actual band members and not George Martin who would often find a way to try make their shit work together
Does it not bother anyone else here since I feel like you guys should know this stuff that nobody really cares that much for George Martin. Dude fucking died this year, but nobody said a thing. Weird considering his particular work on The Beatles' music had more of an influence on all other music than anything any single band member could do.
I've been singing George Martin's praises for many years. He was a studio pioneer but facts are facts, he wasn't in the band and he didn't write the songs. So yeah it's gonna be between Lennon and McCartney, I hate to break it to you.
For no one is great but Lennon had im only sleeping and tommorow never knows
I am the walrus and strawberry fields are way hetter than the fool on the hill
Martha my dear? Nigga r u for real i'll give you helter skelter but happiness is warm gun is still better
And across the universe is probably the best song on let it be
As a fan of the Beatles for years and years, I can definitely say John is my favorite Beatle. Not that Paul or George or Ringo were any bad. They were still some of the best in the music industry at the time. But none of their songs have ever hit me as hard as John's. None of their songs still fill me with awe like John's do. Almost every single one of John's songs in the Beatles after HELP! were masterpieces. His solo career is pretty disappointing, but Plastic Ono Band is 10/10.
this
I can't relate to the other Beatles as well as John
If you prefer pop to genuine emotion, something Paul never had.
...
>Lennon's compositions were the best Beatles songs
>names the edgiest Beatles songs
I mean I love Lennon but come the fuck on
They are both fucking trash for making The Beatles a power struggle while downplaying Harrison and Starr's musical ability.
McCartney was the better musician, Lennon was the better lyricist. Lennon was usually better at putting "soul" into his songs imo.
Hey Jude was a Macca song.
None of those besides Happiness is a Warm Gun are edgy.
>Revolver - For No One
>Sgt. Peppers - She's Leaving Home
>white - Martha My Dear
MY MAN
Across the Universe is my favorite Beatles song though, so I have to disagree with Let It Be.
As for MMT, I dunno. I really love Your Mother Should Know and Baby You're a Rich Man. I'd say John and Paul are equal on that album.
