wtf is wrong with andy

and grimes

and dean and james and daniel and arca and holly and ash and huerco s and the person who keeps posting this (listed order is my ranking)

>no dan "the man" deacon
shame

Lopatin > Morin > Herndon = Ferraro >>> Grimes
haven't heard the rest.

where's escrow nignog?

>gay autechre
>female autechre
baka senpai

>grimes

>arca

>disliking arca

Grimes > all these hacks

if you actually think grimes is more talented than all these people you have no idea what you're talking about. You just say that because you wish she was beside you instead of your body pillow. Also how the fuck does arca sound like autechre, there new album sounds nothing like mutant this meme needs to die.

grimes is objectively better than andy

who's the guy in the center top row with the round sunglasses?

Huerco S.

why are they all wearing sunglasses?

only 2 of them are and 1 of them is prescription

No

>No
No

>mainstream pop and hip-hop
Saviors of music...

this op is an imposter, the Big Four are the true saviors

Blunt, huerco s, I don't know, my boo Ferraro, who, Chuck person, who, Grimes and who

Why is Arca so goddamn attractive bros?

>if you actually think grimes is more talented than all these people you have no idea what you're talking about.
Really? You're wrong dude. She's way more talented that you think.

wow, this meme thread got worse! YIKES!

I'm not saying grimes is horrible or trash she has her niche sound but can we just be fucking honest, she makes "im so quirky" pop music" it's really not boundry pushing or breaking any new ground compared to OPN, Holly Herndon, or Arca which are far more creative and original . I don't find Andy morin super creative as a musician but I do think he still is more interesting than grimes. can you seriously say that her music video for "kill v mame" isnt cheesy as fuck along with the annoying chorus with the attempt at "cute" vocals. Don't get me wrong she has some ok songs like oblivion and Outer but she isn't as amazing as this thai sticky rice board thinks she is.

A lot of boundary pushing music sounds like shit, see Holly Herndon as an example. Just autistic shit without any soul or emotion or a good melody.

There's some great boundary pushing music like Grimes. She makes electronic music with pop elements but influenced by industrial, dreampop, kpop, medieval, r&b, idm. Her sound is unique and there's no other artist like her.

Kill V. Maim video is cheesy but the song is a pop masterpiece. However, Grimes experimented with more styles, KVM being just one of them. Grimes is really amazing, and I'm saying that as someone who listened to a shitload of music.

How do you know Huerco S and not know Arca?

t. ricardo

/facepalm

where's gesaffelstein?

>Holly Herndon
>boundary pushing
lool, this is relevant:

"It’s impossible for me not to view Herndon’s music, and the strained affirmations it has received in reviews, as grossly emblematic of the Bay Area gold rush from which it derives. Like the army of smartphone app developers that comprise Herndon’s zeitgeist, this music and the concepts attributed to it boast shockingly narrow conceptions of technology and the roles it will play in our future.

"For all the “heady theoretical” ink that’s been spilled on behalf of choppy synth lines derived from voice recordings, no one’s actually going to claim that this symbolic representation of digitized subjectivity is in any way a fresh concept, right? And musically speaking, yes, the sound design is marvelous; but all that hard-won sound is marshaled toward tired, safe forms that meander comfortably within minor modes and awkwardly familiar rhythmic idioms. Herndon might make the Adornian argument that like any electronic musician, she’s deploying these forms in order to push against them, but to my ear she doesn’t so much break through the formalisms of electronica so much as clumsily yoke them to a tedious techie’s artist statement.

"I recognize that many people may enjoy the sounds of this latest album, but maybe its philosophical claims merit at least as much scrutiny as whatever Snapchat said to get valued at $15 billion…?"

go shitpost in ra comment section

will she ever recover?

who's are the two guys beside grimes, and that guy in the top middle?

Andy Morin >>> the rest

just a bunch of faggots lol

what have you even heard from each individual artist? go on, i'll wait.

marcel likes every artist in this picture except for grimes and holly herndon

holy fuck is he a misogynist who hates female artists Sup Forums??

lets hope lads

maybe lp3 will just be bangers instead of blips whose meaning must be imported from tumblr thinkpieces and pre-release interviews

Huerco S
>youtube.com/watch?v=tnYZymp_vVU
Ash Koosha
>youtube.com/watch?v=R1uT9huLwCQ
Andy Morin
>youtube.com/watch?v=x2yLIXf3HRk

This

>Andy Morin was described by some friends and colleagues as racist. His friend Stefan Burnett, the American rapper who helped him sign to Epic Records, described him as "Nazi-esque", saying: "Every once in a while there'd be something about blacks and I'd be, 'But Andy, I'm black,' and he was like 'Yes, yes, I don't mean you.' He had a definite Nordic Aryan streak, [the belief] that he was physically, spiritually and creatively superior", a view he appears to have continued to maintain throughout his years as a mushroom addict and long after his appearances on furby porn magazine covers had become a thing of the distant past. According to Burnett, Andy once attacked a mixed-race woman in a restaurant with a chicken wing, saying "I'm trying to gain". During a performance in Berlin, the audience rioted after Andy performed a version of the song "Codename Dancer" with vocals, including a verse omitted for its nationalist associations.

Woooooo Ash Koosha is some good stuff, thanks for sharing. Didn't know who these other dudes were either. This reminds me of Teebs a little bit, more gritty and better produced. Real nice.

omg, someone please save mc ride

OPN > Ferraro > Blunt > Grimes

Yeah, Ash Koosha's great. GUUD is an incredible album, still haven't listened to I AKA I yet.

This is the objective ranking.

I like how grimes posting is fading so now they have to try and include her in other memes.

sauce on that picture

Lets fucking settle this once and for all.

strawpoll.me/10650687

i think it would be really cool if all 9 of these people got together and made a collective called The Weird Frontier. lets petition.

this must happen

...

>still haven't listened to I AKA I yet.
It's amazing

vulnicura pt 2 when???

>opn doing pitch-shifted vocals
>james ferraro shouting YAMAHA
>grimes singing
>arca dancing erotically
>dean blunt "writing" (stealing) the lyrics
>huerco s and ash koosha on the beats
>andy morin on the bass guitar
>holly herndon whispering
literally 10/10

probably next year

Grimes needs to be replaced by somebody else, probably Dan Deacon
not too familiar with Huerco S and Ash Koosha but depending on how close to being pop music they are one of them could be replaced with SOPHIE (since this is supposed to be the "weird frontier between POP and avantgarde")

>pc music
>avantgarde

>le sampling is stealing meme
this is Sup Forums everyone

it was a joke, i love dean blunt

this, stale meme. plus arca is better than autechre anyway.

it's not too avantgarde, but it's certainly the strange frontier of pop at the very least
>arca is better than autechre
"no"

he is tho. don't get why they're so loved on this board - i tried listening to the album they released this year and i honestly thought it was a bit of a joke.

not yet, but he has potential.

What motivates you to post the same god damn thread everyday?

Have you listened to their other stuff?

go through their discography starting from their first album and including all their EPs m8, starting with their new stuff is a bad idea

this

but that's missing Lego Feet and a few singles

i left them out because they aren't really essential for a first listen of their discography
if someone likes that they'll check out their other stuff, they can probably use wikipedia

where does huerco s fit into all this? i like him but it's pretty much your regular outsider house + post-club ambient. i don't see him as very pop OR avant-garde.

yes, i've listened to a good bit of it. the old is stuff is p boring and generic imo and the new stuff is just incomprehensible noodling - parmegiani and xenakis for people not up to the task. honestly people like arca and ash koosha beat them at their own game. w/e, i just think they're worshipped cus they're part of the old guard.

I would say Lego Feet is still kind of essential, but I don't think I would use it as an intro or put it chronologically
what albums/EPs have you heard from them though?

>doesn't mention gescom
shame on you!

came a little

>it's just their discography in chronological order
why would you bother making this chart

not that guy, but I was considering making one like that with some short descriptions of them just because it would make it easy for somebody completely unfamiliar with them listen to their discography the right way

>arca is better than autechre
poor bait

now that sounds like a noble effort

i need this now

this

lol no

lol yes

realistically:
OPN > Holly > Grimeth > Ash > Arca > Huerco S. > Andy > Dean > James

Give me a reason why.

I'd go
OPN > Andy > James > Arca > Ash > Dean > Holly > Huerco S. > Grimes

more or less this

Mostly this, though I'd put Andy over OPN

OPN>>>Ferraro>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>All the other shits>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Grimes

plz do

underrated
