There's lots of great rock music. Over the past three years, Radiohead, Tame Impala, Courtney Barnett, The War on Drugs, Car Seat Headrest, Parquet Courts, Sturgill Simpson, Mitski, David Bowie, Alabama Shakes, Kurt Vile, Father John Misty, Lana Del Rey, Sufjan Stevens, Beach House, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Spoon, and St. Vincent among others have all made good to great albums. Your mileage may vary with one of those albums in particular, but there's plenty of good music being made.

Essentially it became over saturated with buzzbands getting BNM and it hit the mainstream and became commercialized.

I think rock is still very much alive now. It's just that the biggest bands of 2010 aren't necessarily still at the foreground of the scene (e.g. Arcade Fire). I mean, does The Glowing Man not fall under the umbrella of rock?
