sad to think of, really

well what do you expect.

more than ever it is about selling yourself now and it's less about making interesting or good music.

bonus points if you actually have your equipment turned on when you wiggle behind the players/"live" equipment

> it is about selling yourself now and it's less about making interesting or good music.

:(

This has always been the most retarded kind of thread, especially for artists that have been very influential. The question is malformed and makes a ton of assumptions that can't be proved in any fashion. In short, kill yourselves you stupid faggots.

slow down there edgemeister, Sup Forums is that way

Go make classical music masterpieces and see if you become successful.

False because if aphex twin would debut today he'd literally invent electronic music

Oh lawd. Are you memeing on me or seriously this uninformed?

are you daft

seriously

no, just punk.

He would, his tunes are still harmonically, melodically and rhythmically excellent and his production is lovely.

He's had a massive influence on popular music for the past 20 years. Your OP is dumb.

This. His other peers might have more difficulty though.

>He would, his tunes are still harmonically, melodically and rhythmically excellent and his production is lovely.
They're really nothing special

no idea why people cocksuck aphex twin so much
autechre has been making nothing but solid albums over and over
while aphex is still riding on the hype of his old stuff.
probably because all his fans are those twats who listen to hip hop like kanye

youtube.com/watch?v=vPw9BxzC8Jg
rdj can't even touch that

...

They really are something special. Try doing a proper analyse of any of the complex Syro tracks. Don't base it off your memears.

Æ are great too but quite different. I love their work but it doesn't connect with me emotionally as much as Richie's music does.

This is just ambient? But anyway, I don't get why they're even compared all the time. Richard has always been grounded in music that's more danceable - he's not going after dogged experimentation. Different aims.

Also trashing hip-hop while singing Autechre's praises is pretty funny considering it's pretty much influenced their entire career; from philosophy (bboy/graf culture and the nature of always one-upping your competition), to rhythm, to production methods.

Sadly, this is most likely true :/

dont listen user, thats only how it is in pop music, but thats how its always been in pop music.

Yep, this.

Rich has stated that he doesn't listen to hip hop (unless Luke Vibert plays it to him) and Æ are massively hip hop fans.

Silly sausage u r.

Yes and no.

Marketing helps with non-mainstream-pop artists too but that shit will sort itself out if the music is really, really gr8.

i dont know if you understand this yet since you´re not a performer or producer but you do not simply receive attention or critical glory it´s behind endless hours spend on perfecting your craft over YEARS.
If he made it before he´d make it now because success is an attitude. Okay?

The question doesn't make any sense because if any artist you mention would show up today, he'd probably do different music than he did in the time he did in our reality.

but electronic music has been around for 40 years user

hook line and sinker

I think they're baiting too tho mate cause electronic music has been been around for 70 years

153 if you consider player pianos electronic

Longer than that actually ƒam but I thought they were referring to popular music.

but then he wouldn't have influenced anyone and his sound mind be interesting again

>implying any of you heard Coil before 2013

you were not alive in the early 90s and you have no clue what impact his music had on the techno scene of the time.

zzz aphex worship on this board needs to stop youtube.com/watch?v=z2aWEM1nnNg

Ferrari is the don (and should be discussed more), but I have no idea why concrete composers are always brought up as a sorta "gotcha!" with regards to people like Aphex. I'm sure he was influential to Richard, but at the end of the day Rich makes dance music while Ferrari was a classical composer.

If anything this sort of thing says worse about musicians like Arca who mainly rely on "extreme" or strange textures and sound design. At least Aphex can write melodies and complex rhythms.

Yes, this.

This is stupid. Practically anyone from the past would be boring today. Music is a discourse like any other, so its value is partly derived from its context. Hendrix sounded fucking sweet in the sixties, people copied or sounded like him in the seventies. Thus, if Hendrix 2 arrived in the eighties he'd be dull and dated as fuck and nobody should care about him.

I was messin m8. RDJ is legendary atm I feel like drukqs might have been his best. on replay all this year for me

The Stone Roses would be just as loathed as Arctic Monkeys and Portishead would be just as loathed as Lana Del Rey.

nah, his compositions are great
his songs are catchy
and his guitar licks are filled with enumerable intricacies and subtleties.

electronic music has been around for 50+ years you retard

>his tunes are still harmonically, melodically and rhythmically excellent and his production is lovely
[citation needed]

why would you do that though

Coil has been my favorite artist since '07 buddy

Dude electronic music had already started in the 30s
