Remember when Bush was in office and every entertainer, actor, musician was anti bush? If trump wins, you think we'll see a resurgence of this kind of media? Pic related

If Trump wins, anti-government music will have a HUGE resurgence.

yeah

it'd also be a great way to tell which artists are awful

we already are seeing it

Anyone who was against bush should be against obama too they the same person only different fiscal forms...
think about it

yeah but Obama is a democrat and it isn't hip to be against democrats

Trump isn't even in office yet nor is he even officially the nominee for office and were already seeing this happen.

American Idiot Part 2

4 years of shitty indie bands apologizing profusely on behalf of all white people while the whole country gets ethnically cleansed

I should start setting aside a whole stockpile of (You)s specifically for trumpfags

Regardless of who wins (Hillary), it'll probably happen. 1968 Redux.

What happened in 1968? The Kent State shootings?

We didn't learn from history and now we're condemned to repeat it or something

Or maybe most musicians are democrats, and therefore wouldn't be against their own party?

I don't like Trump either, but this reminds me of something I've found odd: why did so many artists support Bernie?
Do they want to guarantee they'll never make a living? Socialism and the arts don't go well together.

Both parties are pro-war, Wall Street neoliberal in the economic sense. Thats That's why some elite republicans crossed over to support Hillary. the establishment. It's falling apart right now. Leftists on one side, alt-right on the other. Almost like 30s Europe

I don't think this is true at all. Music is usually a very poor profession unless you're popular. Also many famous artists across mediums grew up poor, and therefore will be more likely to support socialism.

And ideally, in socialism, if you're working you will make a (if not modest) living.

>expecting to make a living as a musician

It's 2016

Capitalism and the arts don't have a great record. specially nowadays because streaming services pay artists jack shit. Also socialism doesn't neccesary= soviet state socialism.

Right wing governments tend to be good for music, anger is a good muse.

Or at least it used to be, poor people are moving right wing and rich are moving left. Trust fund kids singing anti-war songs probably won't go down well.

*hillary

and yes

Duh, but most artists are Democrat shills plus absurd caricatured of Obama = muh racism.
>most anti bush comps sucked by the way

Kent State was in 1970 bruh, not being a smart ass just learnt it in class homie.

A lot of shit. Hippes were like the regressive left/SJWs, Eugene McCarthy was like Bernie Sanders (except McCarthy hated hippies and tried to separate himself from them as much as possible), Robert Kennedy was assassinated, the term "silent majority" was coined, McCarthy supporters started a riot at the Democratic convention, Nixon was elected. And yeah, Kent state was a part of it too.

Poor people moving right wing are not those concerned with economic policy (or if they are they're temporarily embarrassed millionaires), but more right-wing social values.

I'd be pretty stoked not gonna lie

honestly it'd probably be better

I also forgot to mention all of the racial shit. MLK got assassinated and there were a lot of racial riots and shit.

We're literally in 1968 again.

The idealism of the 60s died. It also died again a year later at Altamont.

It's not quite to that level, there haven't been widespread protests but it's getting there. The election is similar too though but I don't know if Trump is much like Nixon, perhaps more harder edged but less politically adept.

And don't forget the useless war that killed 50,000 Americans and like half a million Vietnamese people. The New Left often where often stupid college kids, but remember that this was also a massively fucked society, segregation had barely stopped being a thing. In a way they were more militant than today's movements which so far have been more inward-looking and about personal virtue rather than large-scale revolution. Trump has more in common with George Wallace than Nixon.

he's a social democrat, but regardless, it's not really socialism that's a threat to artists, but rather authoritarianism, which was a prominent feature of most socialist countries in the 20th century because of the USSR's influence. hence people conflate the two.

not saying socialism is a good thing, but it doesn't necessarily limit artistic freedom. surely you can see the difference between bernie and 20th century tyrants.

2017 AOTY

Soviets invaded Czechoslovakia

yeah, trump's supporters seem to be more concerned about immigration and terrorism than economic policy. although they do dislike our trade deals.

Green day will get a third rebirth

this

a vast majority of trump supporters do not give a single shit about economics.

well you got a cuck like wavves leading this so far by banning trump supporters

what was the second?

Yeah no one in the real world cares about Wavves, sorry to tell you

It's not completely unrelated to economics. The middle and working classes have lost a great deal of their income across all demographics. The neolib establishment tells people everything is alright, while Trump offers a convenient scapegoat in the form of immigrants.

>Trump gets into office
>every entertainer becomes anti-Trump
>loads of punk bands are created to oppose either Trump or the hypocrisy of everybody (including Trump)

>Hillary gets into office
>loads of punk bands are created to oppose the obvious corporatism and other shitty aspect of her mandate

Can't wait

i actually liked wavves work from king of the beach back and have a wavves tshirt but feel the need to burn that now that he's such a faggot. tainted some pretty good music with the faggot shit.

No.
Punk's definitely not coming back.

Naw punks like to act like their anti capitalist/anarch-socialist but are really pseudo Democrats.

>punk isn't actually relevant or musically appealing to youth anymore
>get vaporpunk and conscious trap instead

I want to believe.
And I'll do my part if need be.

>Kent State shootings
>1968

I'm gonna bring back no wave

this is very true. a lot of his blue collar supporters believe that there will be more jobs if he makes new trade deals and deports illegal immigrants.

Yes. That went to far. SJWs will trample over all our freedoms if they ever hurt their fee-fees. I have come to believe the alt right is the last hope for Liberty.

...

I liked King of the Beach but I don't care any further beyond that, if you actually get mad at that shit it's like whatever man alright alright alright matthew mcconaughey voice

>alt right

is this a real thing?

Yeah, it's like right wing nationalism without the religion

Depends on how 'real' you consider the internet

i wouldn't say mad but it's pretty disgusting and makes me feel as though i can no longer listen since i support trump

Well the Brexit vote won, didn't it.

Shit's hyperreal bro

Dookie, slow fade out, American Idiot, slow fade out.. trump?
