So, it's been a few years now, and Death Grips seems to be running on fumes in terms of appeal...
It seems like Exmilitary and The Money Store were the only things they released worth remembering. Thoughts?

you're an idiot

...

The Powers That B is their best, what are you talking about?

...

They sound like an angry black man yelling at me over the sound of a dying hard disk. The sound of hard disks dying I like. Angry black man yelling at me, not so much.

i hope mc ride shows up to your house and destroys your kitchen

Clearly not patrician.

I was listening to the radio the other day and it played one of their new singles. What a fucking mess, you can't even tell what was going on. They've lost it.

>IT JUS SOUNDSHLOIK NOISE TO ME! HOW CAN YOU WHIPPASHNAPPAS ENJOY THIS???
you're either a grandpa, a pleb, or both

Exmilitary is one of my favorite albums fag. They've just gotten shitty.

Grandpas are usually right. You just aren't old enough to know it.

they still know how to make catchy poppy stuff, they proved that with most of bottomless pit, but have also proved that they're able to do the intricate patrician stuff you wouldn't be able to enjoy, pleb.

>Death grips
>Intricate

>Exmilitary is one of my favorite albums
Of course it is

I feel like they released too much too fast. Should've refined that shit a little more. GP could've been their best album if they would've put a little more time into it.

>death grips
>not intricate
hmm

Well, what do you mean by intricate?

Like, a piece of lacework is intricate?

Ahem

2nd half was filler (besides Whatever I Want)

They benefit from uptempo songs. I wish they had more stuff like Get Got, for instance. When they slow it down it's just meandering, rambling.

i agree. i get that they slow it down to add some variety to their albums but at this point i just want them to release something that's nonstop over the top like GBPGI, Hot Head, and Bottomless Pit

Hot head is one of my favorite death grips song.

It's gonna be interesting to see how Death Grips are remembered in the future. I think 2012 might be the year that is looked at as the vital one, where they broke out of their contract to release NLDW. That album in the public eye doesn't seem as relevant as EXM or TMS but still it plays a huge role in the bands history.

I think 15 years from now there's a realistic chance that people will revisit NOTM and score it a perfect 10, that just feels like something that could happen, seems like a criminally overlooked album by critics at the moment, people couldn't really make heads or tails of it. I don't need it to have critical appraisal, but I must say it does kind of suck how overlooked it felt, because like it or not, it is one of the most left-field things they've ever created and experiments and takes hip hop arguably to it's absolute limits, but apparently it wasn't interesting enough for people.

The more I listen to all of their material, the less and less interesting Exmilitary feels. I really don't say that to be contrarian, but by now 70% of the material on that album just bores me.

While something like NLDW and GP are somewhat inconsistent albums in terms of quality, the peaks deliver way more interesting things than really anything on EXM. This is why I feel like I gravitate more towards those albums than I do the others, they may be flawed but when they pay off it delivers something truly special. NOTM is probably my absolute favorite, which manages to be consistent without ever getting repetitive or stale.

JD and BP feels like their most consistent releases, yet they're far from my favorites. They're missing that unhinged feeling, they feel safe.

No Love deep Web is on the same tier as the money store imo

>babbies first response to hearing death grips

Government Plates was the pinnacle of their creativity.

Bottomless Pit is honestly in my top 5 AOTY so far.

Surely I'm not the only one.

I do however thing that this is kind of the end of their experimenting.

i think the money store and no love deep web are the only good ones

...

>filler
As Ride ain't on em yeah? Doesn't make them fillers.

exmilitary now, within the context of every other release theyve done, feels like their most non death grips sounding record. which makes sense, it being the very first, it has elements of what they would do later but not the exact sound we would all know them for on every record after

it being the least death grips death grips most of the reason why people think its their best

Death Grips is terrible, the lyricism and flow is ass and the beats give me a headache. I still can't believe you can enjoy this shit unironically.

You call this hip hop? More like hipster faggot hop off a bridge.

This. Death Grips is literally made for edgy teens and hipsters

I guess that explains why I never got into ExM, it was the last release I listened to (apart from BP which wasn't out at the time)

literally the opposite, their best material is post-NLDW

Trips of Truth

>agreeing with a meme post

No love deep web is alright too

dubs of deception

Reverse dubs of deception

>see Punk Rock

bait thread, but i do think tms and em are their best albums.

I'd say BP is their worst, but it's very great
to be honest they still have a very good discography
